MCN, thank you for not muddying up the video with music. Definitely among the best, if not the best vid you've released. Ducati made this bike for me. Exactly what I've been looking for. You can tell that Ducati put a lot of thought into making it work like they wanted and I can't wait to see it in person and hopefully get a ride. Thanks for the great review and opportunity to see it go

The staccato pace of the entire video, along with all of the positive feedback, made the review sound like a used car salesman trying to do an elevator pitch in under 5 minutes. Unsure of his buyers wants, needs or desires- he makes sure that everything good about the bike makes it. Whew, Ian? I'm exhausted after watching it, now I need a nap! Content was good, very informative, but, I agree with most of the other 'posters'- it isn't a cruiser. But, it isn't a sportsbike either, and, I do like what it is. Sort of like something I would dream up. Well executed, different in every way, high quality gear, well made and probably long lasting to boot. Ducati doing something out of the ordinary- a good thing for all of us riders!

Demo'd one today. Freaking fantastic! Ducati made a cruiser I can get down with. =) 1198 may have to wait, as I already have two sportbikes. Thank you Ducati! I wasn't sure when I first saw her online, then after seeing it in person and riding, I am sold. Very well done! LOVE the termi's on the one I demo'd..hehe.

Motorcycle testing organizations, take a note from this video. Don't have stupid music or people talking imposed over the sound of the bike. MCN has done it right...just the glorious sound of high revving hp. :)

Excellent review. Informative, nice to look at, eloquent, puts it all in a context and perspective. Not to say the other reviews have been bad - by no means have they - but this review of a bike taking a class to a new level is, fittingly, taking your reviews to a new level as well. Great work.

HAha! similar story. I was cruising around Pomona Beach, CA in my new Speed Triple thinking I had the baddest bike around. Im at a stop light and look back through my mirror to see the round Ducati Head light similar to the one on the Monster and thought "I own you...", then as the light turned green the older man wearing a hoodie and slip on textile shoes, riding with one hand on the bars passed me weaving through traffic with an incredible sound. I headed back to San Diego soon after.

Great review. I just love this bike, looks good, comfy for my old back side, and HD's are old have nothing new to offer. So it's great to see Ducati bring something new. Will try it out for sure.

2019 and I can finally afford to get myself a Diavel! Excited to pick it up in the coming weeks! --and yes the presenter needs to slow down again but then again MCN has dramatically changed from the year 2011

I had the chance to ride the Diavel today, these are my comments Pros The bike does accelerate great. Comfy Seat Manoeuvring is fine at high speed Ducati DNS Cons You can't cruise over 140KPH without some kind of wind protection At 160KPH neck muscle are strained At 220 KPH I was holding on for dear life as the vibration and blurred vision ruined the moment. Seating position cramped for people 6 foot and above The seat although comfy does allow you to move much.

@MrRyyder Yeah this bike kicks ass now and will win people gradually, especially when you turn up at a light and you have far more presence than a ninja, and will blow him away in a straight line and handle yourself around corners and still be more comfortable.(ninja riders hates nothing more than for someone to stand out more than he does and not be able to zoom pass them) this is something new and welcomed, a hybrid cruiser/sport masterpiece, that i think alot of manufacturers will follow.

@1pirate89 I have to disagree with you, this is the best looking bike o the road today. Vrod probably is the nicest looking Harley but no at patch on this Ducati. I will be test riding one as soon as the spring arrives.

@Rtype1000 the v-max is a V4 my good man, so no it won't sound like a traditional cruiser :) Back on the point, an absolutely gorgeous bike I wish I had the 20k Cdn for one, I'd have it in a heartbeat.

@didierrL01 I think at the end of the day its just what you like some like offroader some crusiers. If they want to spend a lil more on the bike and servicing and such then i think they would enjoy riding more knowing what they have put it thru.

Did people actually believe Ducati would produce a big heavy useless cruiser (performance wise) like a Harley no offence. true Ducati enthusiast should have known from the start that Ducati only makes kick ass sporty high performance bikes, which this is, so don't go comparing it to a Harley or even a vmax, this is something new and wonderful.

A mechanic that tells you a Ducati means problems, is simply a mechanic that is uncapable of working on one. I had 30.000 carefree km's on my ST2 with nothing more than normal maintenance.

And your source is what? Old Ducati's were known to be less reliable than the average bike however the new Ducati's have been tried tested and proven to be just as reliable as all other bikes out there. So before you make such a dull comment maybe you give some pretense or backing rather then base old information and translate it to present quality. We don't say "crazy nazi, like most Germans". Do we?

It's not the machine for me...I picked up a Multistrada instead. Diavel sure is sexy though at a distance and close up. Riders are going to be very impressed by the engine. Well done Ducati this machine pushes the industry forward.

The footage has been rendered at the incorrect frame rate (24>30) (i.e speeded up). He does talk rather fast anyway, but not this fast ;)

I am sorry that I didn't know I was to search out photo's on my own to see the product being talked about. If I was whining I would have told you that a motorcycle reviewer should know that a motorcycle has many things on it & how got's isn't even a proper word.

@bumblepup Poser bike, most definetely; thats a matter of opinion ofcourse. However I do think the diavel is substantially lighter than b-king, which will have an impact on performance and could overpower the 20bhp difference. Anyone done the calculations?

@tramagacity they do sound good and look good but ducatis suffer from electrical problems and thats what worries me, i wont buy the 1199 until i get a good feedback from an actual owner
