The Duchess of Cambridge has praised the work of the hospice movement as she gave her first speech on foreign soil after arriving in Malaysia. Report by Jeremy Barnes.

i totally agree ith the top comment. Giving a speech is nerv-racking let alone being the Duchess of Cambridge. She carries herself ith poise and is effortless. She has only just begun her duties as a Royal and with time comes experiance and confidence. She's beautiful and shows what a woman of Class is all about.

Cindy Rosario This was her first speech as HRH. It’s obvious she was nervous. Kate has proved herself to be quite the public speaker. Perhaps Merkel has learned a thing or two from her as Merkel is not so sloppy anymore.

They did a poll once, asked what ppl in general feared the most..There were many things u could pick... From spiders to jumping out of an airplane in parashoot. +++.. To die ended up on second place.. So... guess what was number 1? To give speeches... Most ppl fear giving speeches... They find it uncomfortable..They know they will get nervous, that their voice will shake, that all eyes will be on them, that ppl expect u to say something clever, funny, witty.. Give a good speech, not only content, but perform it well... Ppl fear giving one at a wedding.. Imagine giving one in front of world press? Like Duchess Kate has to do... I think she handles it extraordinarily well!!!!!!!! U guys would 100%, guaranteed, not do it any better! U BE SURE.. SO stop bitc*ing.. JEalousy is disgusting...

Kate's a middle-class girl with a similar background as Emma Watson who's achieved film status etc only kate Middleton is now a member of the royal family. Extraordinary considering their descendants working class roots.

I don't think it's her who's delivering the speech cause if you notice she is reading every word she says and that's why most of us don't get what she's saying..... if someone has to do a speech they just stand and say what they have to say but what you have here is that someone wrote that to her, then beauty gets the attention.............

Kate saying to herself, "Keep saying the same thing over and over and over.... Look pretty. Keep hair out of face. Keep track of papers - no they won't see them. Oh, how they love me, they really, really love me." Seriously - she kept saying the exactly same thing about 7 times in her speech. She is so boring. I don't know what Prince William sees in her.

If you've seen her speech at the East Anglia Children's Hospice (EACH), which was her first speech ever (and was supposedly written by her), this one is very similar. So probably she wrote it too. The only thing I don't get it why there seem to be 3 whole printed pages for material that is at best 1 paragraph. Other than that, all these negative comments seem jealous!

faithoffaith i don't pay attention to the royals and was there by chance (coz she gave birth). i made my comment based on what americans usually do - memorize the speech by heart. she acted as if she's reading from it the first time or at least she'snever rehearsed. she's reading each line in her head first before saying it and thus the long pauses. do the queen and the other royals read off the paper the way she did? like i said, i dont' follow them so this is a genuine question.
