Ah... man those were they days. About 30 years ago, had an Ole boy that worked in a Steel Mill teach a class. He was the local duck decoy guy. Wish I had stayed with it, and his process was all wittling and no power tools. I could not deal with the monotony of of painting and detail of the feathers. Amazing talent some of these showed.
@6:00 for how to Learning to carve my own spread. Live on family farm in West Tn, full of Tupelo, cut some logs out of my wood duck slough last year. Hoping to use those to carve.
i see there is not a lot of interest here on you tube for decoy carving its a shame guess all the young folks are into tech , they don't know what there missing , cause it s sure a lot of fun to carve a duck decoy
That was about as interesting show as Ive done. Really enjoyed it. You're right, it is a shame more young people aren't getting into it. Thanks for watching
23 years old. Taught by an elderly man whom I met through mutual waterfowlers. Started in January 2018 and was a thrill to watch wood ducks, teal and mallards cup their wings into my homemade decoys. Currently working on a flock of divers. Great video!
