Wow, what an effort you are putting in to your property. I have a piece of property in white county Indiana that I have developed over 20 years. 35 acres is all it is but very productive. The last two years we have harvested 300 ducks and geese. By my journal 305 in 2022, 296 last season. I only flood 4 acres of corn each season with an 8” well that pumps 260 GPM. Like you I have learned some lessons the hard way. I am not a hunt club, just family and friends. 40 years of owning an excavating company has given me a lot of experience in working dirt, drainage, levies and soil structure. I enjoy brainstorming ducks and properties. Most of my friends are older now so I have made my blinds handicap accessible. The expense for your concrete pits are substantial. I used the bottom half of concrete septic tanks buried the sawmill wood and 12’ hog panels for brushing. I think you could harvest more birds with just a few adjustments of your crop layout. I could send you pictures of my blinds and drone footage of my corn layout. I plant my corn just like a farmer does then before it puts on ears I now my gunning holes, works well. I also have thee ponds and two wetlands on my property. 90% of ducks are shot out of the corn, geese out of the ponds. Let me know if you want to talk, good luck!
Hey bob I love seeing these success stores like yours, I dream one day of owning a peace of property for waterfowl. Congratulations on your farm, best of luck!!
