Dufferin-Peel Catholic School Board votes against raising Pride flags 

it's the right thing to do. Everyone is accepted and is represented by one flag, the Canada flag

The movement went from leave us alone and let us live our lives to you and your children must support us by doing what we tell you. Pride flags used to be unheard of in schools and now it's considered controversial if it isn't flown.

Dude we aren’t trying to take away your rights or segregate your freedoms. It just doesn’t make sense to allow our children’s education involved with sexual orientation and gender identity.

I'm gay and there are maaaannnny of us who don't want anything to do with forcing our sexuality or identity on anyone ESPECIALLY children. We are embarrassed and DO NOT want these idealogue extremists representing us in any way, shape or form. We don't want to be special cases, we don't need a nonsensical flag to stake special status on elementary school flag posts and we don't want to coerce anyone to accept us, we just want to live our lives period.

[2] It is customary for any text or graphic displays in a building to pertain to the purpose and operations of the respective building. Does the existence of alternative Sthexual orientations of people in society pertain to the purpose or operations of a public school? [3] A school should not unnecessarily cause controversy, or do anything else that would distract from the purpose of the school. Having a LGBQ flag on the property would do so. (This is why many schools prohibit students from wearing clothing having controversial text or symbols, e.g.,). [4] Proponents of the LGBQ flag argue that the flag is needed to make LGBQ students feel accepted at the school, but the flag will not have this effect. This effect can be accomplished by (1) ENFORCING rules that prohibit the bullying of students by other students. If individual students need extra protection from bullying for any reason - and some do - it should be provided (2) hiring administrators and teachers who actually believe that every child deserves nurturing and educating.

I suppose since it costs public dollars to fund these flags, being raised in public funded school, it should be a majority decision. It is what it is.

There is no reason to fly the gay flag at schools and especially Catholic schools. The Canadian flag is the only flag that should be flown. I don’t appreciate that Breakfast Television failed to interview a representative from the school board. But chose to have a radical representative from the gay community. Tristan Coolman spouted much misinformation about the schools, the parents, the kids. We have previously enjoyed Breakfast television but now that they are taking sides and being political, we will no longer be watching.

Man this kind of sucks. I mean i know everybody had different beliefs, and thats okay but shielding teens from something just because is differs from their own beliefs and their parents beliefs can tell them that people who are different or who think differently are bad people. Gay people are just people and i dont think they should be told they're disgusting or odd just because they're different :/ That's what humans are, different. I have the strong feeling, most LGBT people don't even care about this. But the communist faction of activists is in a rage. And it's all a guilt trip beyond reason at this point, to the point these activist will actually say people will die if the flag is not raised. In reality, these activists think in terms of a very strange method of having the moral high ground.

In Waterloo Region it’s the opposite the catholic board does raise the pride flag and has become very supportive of the 2SLGBTQ community.
