it's better to have lots of land in one portfolio because dividing up the land can be very uneconomical and not environmentally friendly.. just drive through rural ireland and you'll see why.

The people of Scotland are legally sovereign and so sovereigns legally own the kingdom of Scotland. Which is why there is no English style law of trespass in Scotland and people have legal right to roam. There are, of course conditions to the right to roam. Personal privacy is protected and that means you cannot roam in close proximity to a dwelling and you can trespass on such as railway lines and MOD property but I suspect these have more to do with personal safety and danger. It is a modern law that no private person can clamp or two away a vehicle parked on private land and demand payment for its return from the owner as they can do in the Kingdom of England. It is probably like other legal matters - full of grey areas.

Poor danish Asos owner though - with so many of his children dying, I can't stop seeing those three small coffins when his name is mentioned. So many people lose family, especially in these types of attacks, but the ones that lose multiple children at once - truly tragic for any parent.

The question is who did the people originally buy the land known as Scotland from? As I understand it the land was there long before mankind walked on it. Nobody owns the planet we live on nor the land or seas, we are all just guardians here to look after the place.

Are there any examples of land owners trying to get residents off their land? It sounds like these rules might incentivise that. You cant have a community buy up your land if there is no community.

Scotland was at the heart of colonialism and slave trade. They are not victims or have a history anything like Ireland in fact they were at the heart of colonialism there taking land and occupation as part of Ulster plantations and Orange order to Northern Ireland. The land they are talking about is in Britain there are hundreds of land owners across Britain yet Scotland is now acting as if they are independent and they voted against that. Therefore you need to compare land ownership across Britain.

This has been like this all over Europe for centuries. The Monarchs and Oligarchs owned all the land and used the peasants for slave labor. That's why many Scots and other peoples fled to America where they could have their own farms. In Canada, a dominion of the Monarchy, the Queen owns 89% of the land still today. I think they call it crown land or something of the sort. Anytime they cut timber from the land, they have to pay the Queen.
