Let's do a review on Doris the door using Dulux Trade Quick Dry Gloss
This is a water based gloss, with a re coat time of only 6 hrs!!
Does it do as well as the Brush killer... or Isomat Gloss, or Bedec Aqua Advanced Gloss?
Here I test it out, using the Dulux Trade Quick Dry Undercoat, followed by two coats of the quick dry Gloss.
Are you already using this paint or thinking about using the Dulux Trade Quick Dry Gloss, what do you think to my review of the Quick Dry Gloss?

Tried arrow worthy brushes this week, omg! That was a top tip! Thanks 😊 Had a job with a Dulux gloss, thought I'd be out in a day ( 2 hrs journey time, plus train fares)...really let me down. I know the drying time is there for a reason...but I thought it couldn't be true and I'd get away with it. .4hrs later it was still sticky and couldn't recoat til next day. That one cost me.. 2 days instead of one, plus fares... It was only a little job! Weren't allowed to use oils there, and the first time I'd used it. Live and learn! Thanks for the vid 👍
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator
Next time you know.................. for quick turn arounds... look at Bedec MSP or even AllCoat exterior

Great video again Phil. If I’m honest I steer clear of all gloss paints unless I’m working on exteriors

I think satin look better outside, gloss seems to duff off anyway.

Well usually I will use the johnstones aqua but it’s getting difficult to get at the moment where I live so have been using the Dulux quick dry, for me its on a par with Johnstone but not quite as good but also it doesn’t kill your brush either! On doors I found first coat rolled and second rolled / laid off (if needed) and it gives a great finish no issues… as with most water based you need a decent coat get it on and leave it… yes it’s thinner a little than johnstones but for water based it’s up there in my top 2/3 that I’ve found any good. Sprays well as well 👍
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator
What about on the mouldings?
@Colwray1
@Colwray1 Год назад
@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator mouldings? In what way… I use this on doors , skirts, arcs, etc don’t find an issue with it… 2 coats or even one gloss after a good undercoat works perfectly well… 👍

@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator what I would also say is at the moment with it being difficult getting some pants, the trade version I couldn’t get anywhere near me .. but they do a non trade version, slightly cheaper around £6 per 21/2 litre cheaper .. it’s slightly thinner but after 2 coats there’s not much in it and if spraying you would never know! And as for average jo.. they would have no idea as most recon paint is paint 😂😂

Commented on another vid about the Dulux quick drying < 😭 ahem gloss, still wet 40 mins later warm room,my preferred paint is dry in 10 mins, she bought before i got job & it's like somebody had emptied a tube of bathroom silicone in the tin, it had an elasticity to it & just never flowed, horrid stuff, i normally use Leyland Acrylic primer u/c over old oil paint adheres well followed by the Leyland Hardwearing Eggshell which is 10x tougher than standard paint, i did the walls in open plan kitchen / Lounge last week with this too along with woodwork as she wanted something washable & scrubbable as she has two little monsters that rampage, Leyland is a good paint that out performs some of the much more expensive brands & a shout out to Decorating centre online who colour mixed said paint to a FB colour match at £50 for 5Litres Bargain & ☆☆☆☆☆ service

Hi Phil, another great video. It's a shame about dulux as it's so easy to get. Today I used allcoat exterior satin on some yellowed skirting and two coats with an hour recoat, it looked great Job done. Dulux have got a lot work to do to catch up. It's only going to be used by the DIY market.
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator
Thanks for sharing. Going foward.. MSP paints like all coat and bedec are really good paints. self undercoating and little prep in some cases. The allcoat exterior is brilliant, flexi and sprays even better. We did a church a few years ago and uses HVLP for all the woodwork using AllCoat Exterior in a satin/matt. Looked fantastic

With you on this Phil, it pulls back on sharp edges, and looks like you've glossed over old gloss, certainly in the first one, the second coat feels like glossing over gloss with the old oil based. As for the smell, I thought exactly the same, it reminds me of some spray on window cleaning fluids for some reason. The sheen is decent, but I wouldn't buy it again.

Wait for the follow up video that goes out in a few weeks .... The gloss is still v good.. No other spoilers lol

I think body is the thickness of the paint, oil tents to be thick and smooths out any sharp edges. Just gives it a thick layer I think

The body.. as in lack of it. Opacity/coverage that the paint has. Put too much on... You'll regret it. ;)

Phil Do you think Dulux quick dry is better than the crown fast flow gloss? I recently did a whole house using the fast flow gloss system and I thought it was lovely paint to use and looked good. I’ve just started a job and we are using the Dulux quick dry system and I have a load of panel doors to do as well. I only started the undercoat yesterday and did one door side and some skirting and frames. I will have to see how the gloss goes 😬

Hi Phil, great video, thanks. I need some help. I am new to painting and have had some problems with Dulux once gloss which i used on all my doors, window frames and skirtings but within a few months its already turned yellow and lost in brilliant white as my flat does not get much sun light. I was advised to get a water based paint and have tried this quick dry gloss and found it be very light and runny. I have only done some re paint work and am trying to find out what is the best water based white gloss paint to use that wont turn yellow. Please help if you dont mind. Much appreciated! Thanks
@ProfessionalPainterDecorator
Oooooh the million dollar question. Have you watched some of the other paint product videos I've done yet? For ease of painting... Look at Bedec MSP. It's not one coat wonder... But two coats will be great. The soft gloss isn't full gloss.... But won't go yellow.

@ProfessionalPainterDecorator
Hi Neil, no, I've not used it... I always thought it was a 2k spray product, but have been told you get it in waterbased and it can be brushed. The funny thing is I've been on a job recently where the fitted furniture painter said he uses it, as it's water based and can be bushed. I'm still thinking it would be better sprayed.
