Dumb and Dumber: The Smartest "Dumb" Comedy Ever Made

6:00 I always knew this scene was improvised on some level, it's very awkward but the awkwardness works since Lloyd's such a socially inept character, this is how you do improv right👍

One of the most quotable "quotes per minute" movies ever produced. Interesting though that the version I grew up on was the "clean" version, and after seeing the "cruder" version much later, I think it works much better with Lloyd and Harry being more innocent naifs. I have zero issue with crude humor, but it just doesn't add anything to their characters. The best setup and punchline in the movie: "Harry! Your hands are freezing!"

If you’re a comedy guy Joe list has a movie podcast called Joe and Raanan talk movies, they were the ones that got me on the Dumb and Dumber train. rlm is my all time favorite channel as well Mike and Jay changed the way I think about movies. I think the brain that connects with them also connects to Joe and raanan give it a shot

1 of my all time favorite Comedies. I was around 12 when it came out. Liked it then for the silly slapstick, love it now for the subtle "Brilliant Comedy" its a film i can watch today and laugh my ass off beginning to end Fun fact: Jeff Daniels is a more dramatic actor and reluctantly took on this role at the advice of his agent. He didn’t like it and distanced himself from this movie for years, Until Clint Eastwood told him a story about him picking a girl up for a date and he had to use the bathroom, so he took a dump in the girl's parent's house bathroom and the toilet was broken and couldn't flush(which of course happens in the film). And he thought the Movie overall was brilliant

I don't know if I'm the only one that's made this connection but I suspect that Large Marvin & Feenie inspired Harry & Lloyd, they look very similar and act very similar, put these guys side by side and you'll see what I mean, Large Marvin & Feenie also pre-date Dumb & Dumber (1994) too

I would say that the rest of the world they lived in were the "straight man" to the two goofs.

The version matters a lot, my dvd only has the extended edition which changes Lloyd into a malicious character, it’s awful
