"Our pet's heads are falling off!" 🤣 So many great lines to quote from this movie, I feel like anyone who doesn't sprinkle their conversation with at least a few every day is wasting opportunities.

Ease up, baby Tidwell. Jim Carrey has been a goofball since the days of In Living Color. Of course he's not taken serious as an actor. Look at most of his movies. They're comedies. You want to see a great comedian successfully make the transition to serious acting? Bob Odenkirk of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul fame!

Lloyd's "I'm sick and tired" speech was one of the few kinda serious parts for real though. When I was 10 it was just a fun movie but it hits much harder when you're working class and almost middle aged now

I actually do this when I watch comedies, and it sometimes works. If I watch something that's supposed to be a comedy, I look for the seriousness and the dignity, and I pretend it isn't a comedy. This trailer did a really good job of what I'm attempting to do. Somebody did that exact thing with Jim Carrey - they took him seriously - and they put him into The Truman Show, and it worked really well, and he became a hero.

Wow, I can't believe this - I was literally watching this film last week (for about the hundredth time) and thinking this exact thought, that some of the scenes are actually really deep, especially the "I'm sick of having nobody" monologue! Superb work and glad I'm not the only one who sees deeper nuances in this epic film.

which really proves why Dumb and Dumber works so well, because it has a huge heart pumping the comedy with the actors allowing themselves to subtlely create the drama of the characters, aware of their obvious limitations. One of the 90's best comedies, and a handfull of quotes that still gets you. The blind boy and the bird... LOL. That has to be one of the biggest bellylaughs I had in the 90s, the bird's death and the conversation afterwards in the car.

you wouldn't be able to make a mash-up like this of modern comedies - they're too one dimensional. That's a testament to the greatness of dumb and dumber. As silly as it is, it has heart and genuine moments throughout.
