I watched it for the first time when i was +- 10yo, and it left a great impact on me, but it didn't really understand it untill i was maybe 18 or so. I suggest you wait at least 5 more years, you'll enjoy alot more! Also, if you like it, make sure you watch 'Seven' as well.

RosesNeverFade I'm vaguely surprised no one responded to this comment because it is very intelligent and insightful. I, personally, saw this portion of "Hannibal" as an eventuality, the editing on this only makes the lead-in from the previous novel make sense. Also, it's why Jodie Foster refused to revise the role - she didn't agree with Harris nor the Hollywood interpretation of who Clarice became.

There are lots of little clues in the actual Silence of the Lambs novel that foreshadow what happens in Hannibal. A lot of them where left out of the movie.

I think Jodie and Jonathan Demme thought that clarice was to be kept a success story, for her core not to be corrupted. Especially since the movie doesn’t say ‘the lambs won’t stay silent forever’ as it does in the books, meaning that for book clarice to make up for her traumas, she has to keep finding somebody to save. (I don’t know if this is how trauma works, but it seems like Thomas Harris thinks that’s how it works.)

Okay, I didnt read the books and i couldn't finish the movie Hannibal. I don't know exactly what this comment is referencing, but I think that this idea is part of the original movie, too. That's what makes this video weird for me, tbh. Because it's like, watching the movie there's this unease of not knowing the depth of her interest in him. That just adds to the creepiness of the movie, that Clarice is such a sympathetic protagonist but she's also maybe not safe to trust where she leads. For complete lack of better words So this video is just as eerie because it kind of just highlights those specific parts, and then the cheery narration makes it more disturbing. You can't really make Hannibal's creepy comments Romantic-comedy-quirky anyway tbh. Whereas some edits make the tone of the movie so different yet believable.

When she later runs away with him at the conclusion, we get a flash-forward that shows them living in opulence in Argentina with servants and such. It is untold whether she participates in cannibalism with him, or if they retired for a normal life, but it's likely.

LOL. He had no idea what I was talking about. But part of me was smiling about it too. I kind of wanted her to. I grew to like Hannibal a lot more in the second book.

It already kind of was. Hannibal was jealous of Buffalo Bill because he was getting some action out there, while he was locked up. So he helped Clarice catch Bill to win her affection. He was jealous of both Jack Crawford and Chandler. He was jealous of Miggs too, which is why he got him to commit suicide. He was horny as fuck for Clarice, maybe because she reminded him of his sister...
