Dumbbell Strength For Runners | Workout Wednesday #2

We're back for another Workout Wednesday! Get those dumbbells out for a very effective routine to build strength for runners.
Your Workout:
Perform 5-8 dumbbell deadlifts for quality.
Perform 5-8 squat-to-overhead-press with dumbbells for quality.
Perform 10 (total) plank rows with dumbbells for quality.
Rest as needed.
Repeat for 4 rounds total.
*For a more "cardio" version: use lighter dumbbells, increase the # of repetitions and minimize the rest.

No twisting when lifting the dumbbell while doing the plank....love the core strength!

I need to get my act together. All I do is run, I’m fast, my times are good but I do absolutely no strength training! 😬

Strength training might be the ticket to getting even faster! And it certainly helps you maintain good running form and prevent injuries :)

The Run Experience - tried these with workout this a.m. and they were fantastic! The first two are a lot more challenging on core and arms using dumbbells instead of a bar which is great. The last move was probably my favorite because it’s such a different and well rounded way of challenging the core - adios boring planks! 😄 Thanks again!

sivakumar krishnamurthy really depends on your own capabilities. They should be heavy enough to be challenging but not so heavy that your form breaks down. First off make sure you are able to perform the movements safely without dumbells. For instance if you can’t squat properly or have poor mobility then you shouldn’t attempt the 2nd exercise until you have the mobility

@@toomuch9762 Thank you very much. Let me start practicing. I usually walk briskly covering 6 kms in 50 minutes. Apart from cardio, i require some strength exercise. I hope this will be useful.
