What schools do y'all go to? I've been out of school since 2008, but, while I don't remember *everything* , I *do* remember them teaching us geography. We had to learn all the continent names and locations, and the same with countries. Has the education changed that much in the time I've been gone? Is this just a matter of a few backwater schools doing a piss poor job? Or are people just not paying attention in class and trying to blame it on the school? 😆

@@mrtribune5785 no actually in most of US states they don't have mandatory geography at all. They have some kind of "science" as a subject and what they teach on these classes is some kind of a history x geography mess, usually they only learn about the USA. I think they also teach a clump of biology, chemistry and physics all in one, they don't have dedicated subjects to each one of them, and if they do, it's not mandatory in most states

@@mrtribune5785 but I don't know how is it in the UK but I guess its a bit better than USA but still a bit weak. They don't know all countries of Europe despite of themselves being in Europe. I still got a lot of explaining to do when I visit and be asked where I'm from. Not to even mention they don't learn any other language. Meanwhile it's mandatory in my country to learn not 1, but 2 of them. One being English and the other whatever you choose based on what your school provides

I am from an African country and the luck of geographical knowledge amazes me. 😭, I mean 54 countries. there's no such thing as an African accent because we don't all speak in 1 accent. I am from a southern African country and someone accused me of lying about being African because I didn't have an “African accent” 😭
