1:25 omg! That triple room is HORRIBLE! It's like a tiny dark cave with a super tiny window. I was in A&I dorm double in 1990, and my room had a HUGE window and was like 2-3 times bigger!
Hey, sorry I have a few questions: 1.) Do you think there's enough storage space or do you suggest we buy like a mini-storage drawer for the dorm? I feel like I won't have enough space to put my books, utensils and whatnot on the desk as there aren't any drawers 2.) Does a desk lamp and mirror come within the rooms? 3.) Do we get a microwave and fridge? 4.) Laundry room? Thanks! I'm planning on moving in this fall so I was just wondering
hi, sorry for getting back to you so late!!! 1) Definitely buy something for extra storage space. I'd recommend plastic three-tiered storage cabinets WITHOUT wheels that can be stacked. Here's a link similar to the ones I bought for my dorm last year www.target.com/p/3-drawer-wide-weave-tower-white-room-essentials-8482/-/A-76613063 2) From my understanding, the mirror and lamp shown in the video were only in the demo rooms for decorative purposes. I had to bring my own lamp when I moved into Lothian, so I'm assuming it'll be the same for Dundee. 3) Yes, microwave and mini-fridge 4) Yes Hope this helps!! Let me know if you have any more questions!! :)
I don’t really know much about college and I was planning on dorming how much do you pay to dorm and when is it . Is it monthly like regular rent for a house?
The average cost for dorming (+ meal plan included) is around $15K. You make 3 payments throughout the school year at the beginning of each quarter, so each payment comes out to around $5k. Financial aid is assessed first (grants and loans), then if you don't have enough financial aid to cover housing, you send a payment of the remaining balance to the financial aid office out of pocket. Feel free to DM me on IG @meggs.png if you have more specific financial questions! I'd be happy to share my experience!
hi! i was wondering if you personally choose what residence hall you want and if you want a single, double, etc or if your just assigned your hall and living arrangements?
Current students haven't received any updates saying the opening will be delayed, so I believe they should still be ready for Fall 2020!! When I moved off campus a few weeks ago, construction was still ongoing despite coronavirus precautions.
You should be able to shift the furniture around. When I lived in Lothian, the policy was that we were allowed to move the desks, mini fridge, etc. as long as we moved them back to their original places before moving out of the dorm. We tried moving the beds around but they were way too heavy for my roommates and I to shift. That being said, if you're strong enough to be able to move the beds, I don't see why you wouldn't be allowed (so long as you don't cause a fire hazard). Consult your RA with any specific questions (like where you can/can't move the beds) on move-in day. Hope this helps! :)
Hi! I don't know the exact number of singles in Dundee, but the housing website says, "a limited number of single-occupancy rooms are available." I suspect it'll be very difficult to secure a single room since many people coming back to campus in the Fall are trying to prioritize safety (aka sign up for the few singles that exist). Assuming that you're an incoming freshman, if you want the best shot possible at getting one of the singles, SIR to UCR as soon as possible and fill out a housing application on the first day it's open. For this current academic year, the few number of students who chose to live on campus in residence halls were all placed in a single room configuration for safety reasons. While I don't personally think that this policy will extend to Fall quarter because of a lack of space, it's possible that Housing will convert more dorms than usual to single status to accommodate students' safety. I plan on making a video after finals week detailing how UCR has handled covid and what changes they implemented to housing/dining. I think it might relieve some of your stress about living on campus even if you're not able to secure a single. Let me know if you have any other questions! :)
I have a question: will these dorms be available to freshmen? It’s because I will attend UC Riverside for the Fall 2020, and then I found out there were new dorms being built. Can I still get one in May? Thank you
Yes freshman can live in these dorms. These are the newest dorms being built currently and they seem to be mostly freshman-oriented like the other dorms on campus. If you want to make sure you secure a spot in the dorms, fill out your housing contract as early as you can. They fill up fast. The application has already been open for several weeks, and the earlier you submit your contract, the more you're prioritized.
according to Housing's website, Stride 2 Success (exclusively for second years) and Pathways (exclusively for incoming/continuing transfer students) will be located in Dundee housing.ucr.edu/living-at-ucr/living-learning-communities
No, it is not very much farther away from main campus than the other dorms. For reference, it is directly next to Aberdeen-Inverness. Go to campusmap.ucr.edu for a full view!
@@maido8977 we were not informed about AC on the tour, but according to this link the answer is yes! www.cmfa-ca.com/uc-riverside-finances-dundee-residence-hall-and-glasgow-dining-facility-with-a-145850000-issuance-from-the-cmfa/
