That exposes the sensitive skin underneath to the sand, and the worm hates that so it will roll its body to move that part as far away from the ground as possible. As long as a worm rider keeps that plating open the worm will not dive under the sand. That's also how you steer the worm.

32:40 it's so funny you say that because in the books the emporer WAS just staying in orbit and Paul was able to detect him with his prescience and plan the attack around when he would come down. I think they simplified this plot point for the movie by just having Paul challenge him directly. I just found it funny because you said "what I would do..." and it was almost exactly what the emporer did in the books 😂

Many people can glimpse into the future like Paul because of training, and through the use of spice although they don't have complete control over the visions. "The prophesy keeps coming true." Yeah, because Paul can select versions of reality with insight from his visions. People with Bene Gesserit training are dangerous, and armed with planted "prophecy", they revolutionize entire worlds. The goal of the Bene Gesserit is control, and to create the Kwisatz Haderach (basically a male reverend mother), a power under their control. The Kwisatz Haderach was triggered early because of Lady Jessica who made Paul into a man instead of a girl. The Kwisatz Haderach is inevitable, and was likely supposed to be made on the Harkonen planet. Instead, we got Paul on Arrakis, which screwed up a lot of Bene Gesserit plans. With control over spice, Paul can assert control over the entire galaxy.

As fast the last quarter of the movie moves its the same with the book. Paul becoming the Kwisatz Haderach in the Cave of Birds to the Battle of Arrakeen and Paul becoming Emperor is like 3 chapters long in a 48 chapter book.

No paul was almost dead he wasnt playing her. The spice brought him back. He was really unconscious he didnt pretend. He wasnt faking almost being dead he literally was unconscious fighting the poision thwt could've killed him. He could of died every other man who tries to drink the water of life didnt fail they died its lethal no faking being unconscious from ingesting an actual posion he fighting it changing it but he was literally unconscious he did not fake that. Why would he do that to chani willingly.

The sisterhood witches can NOT manipulate Paul's prescience visions. It's visions of the future a power he alone has. Some can hide things from his vison sure they can n spacing guild can hide things or shelter things from him n his visions but the visions he has throughout both films is called prescience n its seeing multiple futures fragments but his visions r his alone n r the future it cant be manipulated by anyone.

The worms don't dive into the sand when the hooks are raising their flaps because the sand gets into the holes underneath their flaps and it irritates them.

Yes they can choose the gender of the child. Not weird religion its literally they can control themselves even to the secular level to the atoms in their body thats why they can change the worms poison so she dont die n got all memories so her daughter got all the same memories. Jessica had a son cuz she loved the duke leto n he really wanted a son. She was supposed to have a daughter who was supposed to grow up n marry feyd n a child between the two would be the one they wanted but Jessica had a boy n paul become the One a generation too early cuz of Jessica she hijacked the sisterhood over 20,000 year plan.

It's worth noting that there isn't, with the exception of the Harkonnens, a "bad guy" faction. The Bene Gesserit do what they do to bring about a godly leader to guide humanity to safety and whilst their pot stiring does cause a few family trees to get pruned the Imperium was always stable under their influence. Even the holy war and the horrors that it causes are not without cause or consideration. If there has to be an antagonist it could be human nature and specifically the part of it that needs superman.

The book (22 books in the Dune saga), is very complex, so a reputation to not be easy to put in movie. Just read the first book....you will understand. Villeneuve cannot say all details about this universe, a lot is missing. Fans of the books know exactly what is happening and why !

Its self fulfilling prophecy started as made up but enough believe n everyone did wat said they do. Its all self fullfilling. Its definitely made up n definitely real cuz it started as one n become the other called self fullfilling prophecy.

The first scenes of Dune part 2 has been filmed for the first movie but was not included in the final cuts. It’s why the actor who plays Jamis didn’t need to come back for the second part. His scenes were already filmed 3-4 years ago.

24:28, this is not the hero's journey because Paul is not the hero of this story. True Paul is our protagonist and we naturally root for him. But this is the origin story of a supervillain and a dictator.

Dune inspiring Star Wars is just a rumour and has never been confirmed by Lucas
