Dungeon Keeper is Gone, But it Has a Strategy Heir in Dungeons 4 

So wait, is Voiceover Man telling us that Stanley became the All-Consuming Evil once he finally got off work?

I played a few levels of the OG Dungeon Keeper just the other day. All these years later and it still gives me an itch I must scratch,

Have not played this yet but I really loved Dungeons 3, and I've been really impressed with how the studio stuck with something they love and steadily improved with each new game. Dungeons 1 was pretty bad, and I expected the studio to just move on to something else but nope, they kept on going and now probably have one of the best successors to Dungeonkeeper our there.

Improvements over D3: 1. Snots mine all machines so creatures are free to attack without holding back production 2. Potion factory. Potions can now be produced like toolboxes where you will get random potions that are added to a separate menu like spells for things like healing, speed, attack damage, etc. 3. Magic batteries. Magic batteries are produced like toolboxes which can be dropped on any machine a snot works which will make it run automatically and much faster for a period of time 4. Undead enemies. You can turn dead enemies into troops (as many as you want with a device built). No more torture conversion with limited troops 5. Evil is now gained through pure conquest. You can fight special creatures (which regenerate) to get a big evil bump but no more islands or anything 6. Blight. Blight is used by undead to generate minions in battle. All undead get them. The minions change by undead 7. Horde are very cheap. Since Horde creatures die easy they are much cheaper compared to demons and especially undead. 8. Special items. Now you can find certain items in the dungeon and if you drop them in your evil storage room they'll give you a buff. 9. Thalia has more abilities including a spell to transport her and anyone by her to the Dungeon Heart using evil. I'm sure there are plenty more but these come to mind

War for the overworld, WAR FOR THE OVERWORLD! Literally has the same voice actor from dungeon keeper doing all the commentary!

Wanderbots played this in co-op and mentioned that the "Ultimate Evil's" hands should be a right and left hand, and that it'd be great if there were different skins for those hands; and I couldn't agree more. Alternate skins for the monsters you control would be a fun DLC too; as would alternate roles/playstyle/plotline (also suggested by Wander) like a Mother Nature overlord, or (as I was thinking) a Lich/Mummy Lord, Eldritch Abomination, or SkyWeb (SkyNet) Evil Technology overlord (maybe in some future Dungeons game).

I love Dungeons 3, the co-op with a buddy was so good. One guy base builds, the other adventures above

I love the Dungeon series. Own all three, and played the demo of the 4th. They are doing a great job, just wish there was MORE when each iteration comes out.

I've been having quite a lot of fun with three but I haven't finished the campaign missions. I didn't know there was a Dungeons 4 until this video. Thank you.

I’ve been waiting for a Dungeon Keeper clone for along time; “Join us, Come with us”

it's called a "treasure bath" - Dom DeLuise, History of the World, Part 1

The traps can completely destroy the invaders. Build a loop of slime 1x1, buzzsaw walls with a spike 3x1 inside it. The pusher when you can't use the buzzsaws. The slime will slow them for about 4 tiles. Bigger groups can get split up and the ones in front will wait on traps or lava for them to catch up. You can also connect all exits in a tunnel around the dungeon with only one access tunnel to the dungeon heart with your Workshop near the dungeon heart side of that tunnel for quicker trap repairs. Test this in the Dream Dungeon skirmish map to get a good feel for the strategy. This is more difficult to setup on some campaign maps with hectic assaults or time restraint objectives but if successful can drastically improve your dungeon defense. Don't try to que the entire trap loop at once unless you have already become rich as it will drain your gold and occupy your snots. Also, you will see how far heroes can get and don't need to waste resources far past that point.

Listen... everyones knows 5 curses and spite live in each gnome. This truth cant be ignored. The best way to get rid of a gnome is to throw that gnome overboard.

I love the humor in the Dungeons games. It's great. I'm surprised Splatt didn't mention how the lady dwarf has a beard, lol.

Splatt finally finding self awareness on why he struggles with games at times. Honestly your content has become much better since you have started working on being more concise, not having massive monologues at the start of your videos, and getting back to random chat while playing.

People always say that games like this are "spiritual successors" and whatnot, but I never see it. Yeah, it's the same genre, but it doesn't feel like Dungeon Keeper to me. Though, Dungeon Keeper to me is DK1 (I never actually played DK2, but it does seem closer to these games). But DK1 had a darker tone that none of these other games replicate. All the darkness is gone and exchanged with more bright and shiny humor. That's fine and all, but the entire point of DK1 was to be some sort of dark lord that hates all things bright and shiny and funny, and that itself brought dark humor to the game. I miss that feeling. War for the Overworld is probably the closest game to that feeling, but it's not quite there.

Finished if yesterday. Here are my thoughts They reworked the economy where mostly all snots are the ones handling resource production We now have potions that work similar with spells for the horde faction They added dwarves underground Max 3 perks per battle unlocked via finishing the campaign mission achievements We can now automate without workers with magic batteries New spells Now onto the bad experiences: The graphics options are really non existent Over time and whenn u reach late game, the game slows down to a slog where i get too much command delay due to the amount of particles and units in the dungeon Less unit variety (only horde faction evolves) Research trees feel unfinished esp undead Fewer trap variations Story is 5/10 at most Crashes I really loved dungeons 3 and its dlc’s but my main gripe is still the graphic options especially late game where everything becomes a powerpoint presentation. Gameplay is still good but I felt they removed some of the good features in the previous games while also adding new ones. Humor is hit and miss. Also there’s one specific line at the later missions which may spark some “controversy” regarding how Thalya adresses a certain character. Overall a 7/10 for me and still longing for DLC(which was hinted at the end) and hotfixes to fix my main issues with the game.

Interesting series where each game has been a straight upgrade from the previous one.

The fact you can hoover up all the loose, unclaimed gold is such a tiny thing, but also one of the best efficiency boosters I've seen in this kind of game.

Been playing this since its release on Microsoft's Gamepass. I love it! This series holds a special place in my library. I've already enjoyed the humor and the gameplay still holds up.

I cannot recommend Dungeons enough, I played the 2nd one 2 or 3 times, and played the 3rd game at least 5 times start to finish. Amazing narrator, levels, references and humor!

I'll keep an eye out for how this develops, but what I wanted the most after playing Dungeons 3 was some kind of Dark Fantasy graphics DLC. The cute theme is well done but somehow doesn't inspire in the long run, especially when at times the overworld feels mostly like busywork.

Dwarves dig slow because of Dwarf OSHA and "safety" regulations. The key is to have at least a 50% mortality rate of your diggers.

Love Dungeon Keeper. It was huge when I played it. I was looking for an alternative. This looks cool.

Any game that depicts dwarvish women with beards gets an A+ in my book.

Oh yeah. Dungeon Keeper was THE GAME back in the 90s, so, this being its successor, its a no-brainer pick for me. Definately gonna buy it. Great to see the old mechanics still being applied here, though I'd still like to see how the "incarnate" spell would look like nowadays. The option to go inside a minion and control in first person was groundbreaking at the time, and still is in some ways, as I haven't seen many other strategy games using this feature over the years.

Treasury should be built around goldveins to minimise travel time for the snots. they need to unload in a treasury and having the treasury around a goldveing make them mine faster. you get gold slower if you dont have a treasury around a goldvein.

I found out a while back that there is/was actually a mobile version of Dungeon Keeper that I got some of my friends to play. The divice I had it on got torched so I haven't checked up on it in a while though so I'm not sure if it's still a thing or not. I do still havr the disc ver of DK2Gold ED somewhere... I recently came across Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain on GOG for about $2.00 I put a lot of time into that on PS1.

It had a strategy heir in Dungeons 2. Dungeons 3 and this new one #4 are just continuations. Dungeons 1 was a bit different than D2 and onward, but it was still a really good game imo.

Dungeons 1 had issues (many bugs...) but I appreciated how it was trying to be something new and different, as opposed to trying to be just a modern dungeon keeper.

Just a note, another Dungeon Keeper like game is coming out tomorrow I just heard about called Naheulbeuk's Dungeon Master. Dungeons 4 is awesome though.
