Per your request at the end of the video.... Couple of my favorite stories from my D&D campaigns (been DMing since 1979, but won't reach back quite that far..). Well, these are more moments than stories. In old-school dungeon exploration there was a deadly hazard called Green Slime. Basically a living acid that, if it got on you, could eat through metal and flesh with ease. Some dropped on the group's druid and the player reacted with a literal shout at the table: "Set me on fire!!" (to burn it off him). It was unexpected and has been an in-game refrain for us for many years whenever something deadly/crazy happens. The other was a game where the party had been hunting a bugbear leader named "Deathfist" for several months, then found out the villain's name was a mistranslation. It was actually "Deathmist" and they suddenly realized the bugbear leader was actually a dragon. The stunned silence/fear was palpable. But over the years, the best stories are the ones players tell about the game, about the sessions they remember, the moments they enjoyed. As a DM, there is nothing better than hearing players recount their exploits and hearing the sense of fun (or joy or sadness) in the telling.

One of the few cases where Bond Villain Stupidity is slightly justified. Her respect for them aside, Sofina was literally about to drop a magic nuke right on top of them. Her worst case scenario was they made it to the cage, not them escaping.

Yeah, they did a great job with the lore, I appreciated it as a forgotten realms nerd. But they also made it understandable to people who know nothing about DnD, which is hard to balance. I think it's one of the best movies I've seen in theaters in years.

1:59 This helped me today, I was starting to doubt myself, but I have faith once more, Thanks man, I am glad you enjoyed the dnd movie and hope you're game is going well too. I run many dnd games and no two are ever the same, you cannot invent a good dnd game, it grows organically and the choices of Players and the dice determine some stunning moments that to anyone else recounting them just sounds bizarre, surreal and weird. My favorite reveal to my Players was when the little old elven lady they had been helping, was about to unlock the tomb of a known Vampire, and they all started to question their motive for helping her, the ramifications of it all and the what if's started to flow at the table. Thats the hard bit, being physically insight checked by your Players, you need a good poker face and I just don't have one lol. Its way easier now with digital screens to hide behind. Thanks for the reaction man, best of luck with your channel, your a delight to watch.

The acting and action scenes came off very well indeed...their believability helped sell the story even more.

The tablet is a one time use magic item because it's just a physical object holding a pre-cast spell. It's not a unique thing, just rare since the spell it holds is very high level so there are few out there capable of casting it and even fewer making magic objects for others to use.

Best "well sh*t" in cinema.

While there were a lot of concerns about the movie, Because of their previous attempts, But also because Hasbro has a bit of a stranglehold on the game nowadays. It's a relief it turned out well, But I hope people will give other games a try as well, Because D&D is good but so are Call of Cathulu, Blades in the Dark, Pathfinder and Starfinder.

A great reaction: intelligent, insightful, articulate, and most of all, honest. You represent Dungeons and Dragons very well, despite your statement that you do not have much experience. Your real world wisdom as informed by your own experiences also is apparent. You are no real world buffoon, although you may playone on RU-vid. You have qualities that would make a fine Bard or Paladin. Ever onward and upward.

7:55 "Hey, look at her, respecting them!" Don't think it was really about respect, honestly. Far from it, in fact. Sofina knew she was going to unleash the Beckoning Death on the arena anyway and she wanted Edgin, Holga, Simon and Doric to suffer the fate that came with that.

The smallest bit of respect to Forge for wanting to at least spare them that.
@rfresa

@@alextrill1746so in her own way she did respect them, at least as much as she could respect anyone living, in wanting them to become part of her undead army. She was perfectly happy to let Forge go with the treasure because she didn't respect him at all.

I loved this movie! It's an adaptation done right. Sadly it didn't really make a splash in the box office, so don't expect a sequel. But hopefully people discover it in digital and streaming.

I disagree on the opinion that Solfina’s decision to put the heroes in the High Sun games was stupid. She was planning on converting them into her undead servants, and such powerful people would have made her army much stronger

"Look at her, respecting them" Yeah, but her respect isn't really a positive thing, it just means she thinks they'd make good undead slaves for her army.

I have played a lot of "Pen and Paper" games and there were great! Yeah of course that means yo are a Freak to the society, but so what? Let me answer your question to the "Staying true to the source"-thing. Wasit ? Not always but you cannot if you want to bring this kind of a story to cinema. So bearing that in mind it was. I think every "Nerd" of back then will leave the cinema with a satisfied smile on his face, I would!
