I know that the D& D adventure series doesn't get a lot of love, so good to see one featured again. I have the first 4 sets and enjoy them for easy to table, quick adventures. Love the coins that you used!
I agree!! I understand they are easier than most fans for rules but it makes them so approachable! Hope you pull one off your shelf and play soon! Thanks for watching!!
Always was curious about these, simply because they are dungeon crawlers and i love those but also a bit due to the nostalgia of D&D days of yore... Well played, Colin, well played...
Wow, awesome playthrough! Love the series. I highly recommend mixing all of them together and chucking in the Event/Room Cards from BGG (created by ninjadorg aka Mr Tristan Hall)
So I only own this series now, but I do like the idea of some new events! I will look that up!! thanks so much for watching, Adventure 2 will be out tomorrow!
That was one thing I housed ruled hated how all enemies were all immune to traps. In one of these games the trap was a giant boulder which filled the corridor and inflicted massive damage on the hero's yet zero for all the monsters in the same corridor. So it was decided that the can trigger traps and be affected by them or killed, however, any monster killed by a trap the hero's do not get the experience points or draw a treasure.
I had the Drizzt one, but ultimately found the underlying system flawed (for my tastes). Since you either explore or draw a card (which are almost all bad). The exploration adds a monster, which attacks you before you can react. Although it was well balanced (the game was always close), it felt like player decisions hardly mattered. It all came down to the enemy d20 rolls. You can probably tell it broke my heart a little. After a few plays with the kids, we just switched to actually playing D&D.
Totally get it! It is certainly on the lighter side, I don't mind having a game where I just bash in some enemy heads just as they bash mine. But yeah if you want more than that, DnD is the way to go! Thanks for watching!!
These games are cool. I actually prefer them as one off games. Much better than campaign style, at least for me. :) The one off games with the fan made event decks are perfect little dungeon crawls.
I can totally see that!! I'm just a super sucker to campaign games cause I love items and good carrying over. But I agree the one offs work great if that is the type of game style you prefer. Great to hear from you!!
Totally I know you've spoken a lot about how you prefer one offs due to the nature of reviewing games it's hard to fit a campaign into the schedule! We feel that over here as well!!
Cool playthrough Colin! This is the only one of the d&d board games i don't own, and I am thinking of buying it! Also, very nice money chips! Which ones are they, if you remember?
This os absolutely noce to see a fresh video about d&d.. What do you think is it a good edition to get for a friend as present that never played d&d but would like to try it ?
I think so! A lot of pple prefer some of the other titles if they know the background, but I feel like this has the best system as they continued to refine it each box!
@kefaraa7509 drizzit is quite good I played the entire thing back in the day. It is one off adventures though. I would say it depends on if you'd prefer 1 offs or a campaign!
