I have an original Vox Clyde McCoy pat.pend wah wah I bought it in '67 and it blows these pedals away. This new Clyde does not even come close to the real thing. Save your money and buy an orginal you won't be sorry. Well maybe your wallet will.
Hey ive had 2 cry baby org wah pedals..i noticed on both times (out of box), looked like there was a gob of some vasaline on the plastic teeth belt that rolls the pot..1st one lasted me 2 months before it started squeaking major...another new i tried i saw the same gob of a thick clear lube when the pedal was all the way heel back & on that teeth black plastic thing that rolls the pots...am i supposed to just play as is, or am i supposed to try to even out that gob or thick semi clear lube...cuz the 2nd one i got, after 5 min, not only was it much more scratchy (just rocking it back & forth sound wise, but the rocking action was also not smooth at all & felt like it would get jammed up in 2 diff area’s when rocking it from heel-toe or vise vera..theyre both orginals bought within last year..Store the pedal room temp in its box (i guess not compatible with my power supply pedal for the rest of my typical pedals, but i have a top end SS 100w amp that came in stock with all my old classic pedals, which are now effect/etc options on the amp, so the Cry baby orig wah is my only missing thing...& my first one worked great for a few months then i noticed a sqeakyness (unplugged) when rocking it, so i got my hands on a brand new same wah pedal...& not only after 3-5 min of playing did it Screetch wayyy worse (i did see the gob of clear lube on that chain with teeth that spins the tone pot, but didnt bother to touch it), after a few min of the brand new dunlop crybaby orig wah pedal (2nd/newest), i noticed the action was also terrible on it, it wasnt rocking heel-toe smooth, it would stiffen up 2-3x between you could go from heel to toe, vs my less sqeaky (same brand/model..but i got another cuz rhe squeaks would drive me nuts & dont know anout electronics & wasnt about to pay $40-60 for a repair when theyre a little over $100 new. Did i just get unlucky with the 2 ,cry baby wah wah orignal pedal’s...1st one worked /felt like a charm for 3-4 months max..then the loud squeaks came in, i tired spreading whatever lube (a decent amound, not a big gob in 1 spot on thay black teeth chain under the toe area, but enough that it was still greasy & rubbed that around all sides of that black teeth chain that connects & spins the pot, i tried to equally spread the grease that was left from 2-3 months ago & it all felt slick..didnt wanna get wires or anything messed up so i screwed it back together, sound was same, like prior it’s rocking action was smooth...but after 30 min of playing..it didnt fix the sqweak when i rocked heel-toe/toe heel. 2nd orig. brand new cry baby wahh pedal i noticed when i unboxed & pushed on heel with hand (to see under toe area & that black plastic chain thing that connects to tone pot), that it also had a similar gob of a vasaline looking (thick semi-clear lube), i didnt touch anything, i was happy thinking my fav pedal (for those few months the original (1st owned) sounded & felt smooth rockin’) I leave everything as is on the new one & decide not to bother touching the lube *nothing said that the owner had to take that vasaline looking chink of lube on that plastic black chain that rolls on the ton pot* so i assume this new cry baby orig wahh pedal will work like normal...Nope! It was much harder to even rock from heel-to ..it’d gey sticky/needed more force in 2- area’s if going all the way from heel to toe, not to mention the sound was way lounder & sqweakier...& this is dunlop fresh out of box. After 30 min of trying to rock back & forth this pedal, nothing changed, sound was fine on both (thru amp) Am i do doing something wrong with lube when i get pedal out of box....or did i just get screwed by dunlop cry baby wah’s
I bought a second hand Dunlop CryBaby and it had some problems. Does anyone knows the name of the switch it uses? I took it to my local luthier and he said he couldn't fix it unless I bring him a new switch
They should put a Q-knob or switch on the side of the mini wah. It would make adjusting the sound a lot easier than unscrewing the bottom plate to access the switch.
I’m telling you now, don’t go anywhere near the Dunlop GCB95 Wah. It’s a piece of crap. I bought one brand new out the box and it was already broken (no sound came through when clicked on). I took it back the next day and got a Vox wah instead. Go look online and see all the problems/issues people have with this pedal. It’s ridiculous how this pedal gets past quality control lol.
