A review of the Dunlop CX 400 Tour and the Dunlop CX 200.
I consider the characteristics, categories and pros/cons of the rackets.
I also consider what the best string set up is for them aswell as comparing them to their rivals.

The Dunlop CX's have some of the best, if not *the* best, feel of any frames out there, bar none. Total under-the-radar sleepers!

As good as Wilson Pro Staff?

@@goldencalf5144 I personally think the CX 200 and 200 Tour feel better than the Pro Staff, but they're close. Comes down to personal taste more so than anything. If you happen to be a generation-after-generation "Pro Staff guy", you'd probably be inclined to favor the PS. But if you've never picked up either one, the CX gives it a run for its money, for sure.

I think the CX 400 Tour is a gem, very underrated. Great feel and great connection, good power, easy to swing. I do think it needs a bit of extra weight against heavy hitters, but that aside, it's good in all parts of the game. One thought on the video, though. I understand the comparison to the the Speed MP, but I've always found the 400 Tour to be a very different frame, aimed at a different player. The Speed is so disconnected from the ball, certain in comparison to the CX, and the Speed's weighting just seems to favor groundies over all else. The CX is very versatile and old-school (in a good way) by comparison. It also has a great slice.

Agree it’s so overlooked but has to be one of the best racquets I’ve used.

Wow what timing. I used to play with the CX200 then fell in love with the free power I got from an Ezone 98. Today I pulled the CX200 back out and was like why the heck would I have ever left this racket? I feel like I can put the ball anywhere I want super consistently.

I adore these frames. The CX 200 feels amazing. It's what tennis feels like in my head. Would pair with a more powerful string. The CX 400 Tour is more sustainable for a whole match for me and my level. Little extra pop and forgiveness is nice. Feels much more solid and comfortable than its competitors.

I appreciate that you bothered to try different string combinations when you test

Love this racquet. Got it as a back up to my ezone 98 (which is usually my blade 18x20). Over a matter of weeks I've found myself using it as my first choice over the ezone. Got it on discount for $180 and id say its easily the best value racquet.

Cx 200 with Restring Zero 1.23 42 lbs mains and 44 lbs crosses is my go-to right now. It’s 325 SW without any lead added.

Very nice review - the CX lines from Dunlop (the 2019 and 2021) are really well considered and fits for a wide range of players. These control-oriented nature with great feel is what usually lacks in tennis rackets. I'm playing with the lighter version with no lead added - CX 200 LS (290g), however with full-bed Luxilon Alu Power 130 it plays amazingly stable even versus NTRP 4.5-5.0 players. Maybe a few drawbacks would be serving (not enough plow-through) and volleying (stability issues against hard-hitters). Besides that it is really enjoyable and maneuverable.

The cx like has lower power which is the point is control rackets. The blade v8 was a little bit too much power for me, especially with new balls in a hot environment

How would you sum up the differences between the 400 tour & cx200?

I looked for the 400 tour everywhere, but couldn’t find any. This frame is pretty rare in SEA. That’s why i go for the blade 100 v8.

Hey Andy, I have a Prince ats textreme tour 100 310 and really enjoy it. V keen to hear your comparison of this with the Wilson Blade 100, Head Speed mp and the Dunlop cx400 tour. I’ve not tried these yet and want to try a few others before settling. Really like your analyses. Many thanks, Al

Hey! Thanks for the message. Those 4 are an interesting category for sure. I guess a lot will come down to feel - the Dunlop is more buttery compared to the prince . I love the prince too, feel is a little crisp despite it being more flexible in this ATS version. I like the 16x18 string pattern of the prince - spin when you demand it, can flatten out too. The prince would offer more spin potential than the Dunlop. The speed mp I think you are less connected compared with the Dunlop. The speed does everything ok, but it somehow lacks an X factor in sensation and feel. It’s a Tough call between the blade 100 and Dunlop Cx 400 tour, I think players will love both of those who play in this category. . The blade 100 feels a little more solid, probably offers a touch more spin too. My choice would be the Dunlop though, with the right strings to open up some bite and spin the feel is 👌. Cheers

Hello, I have prince tour 100 ats and cx 400 tour, i don't agree with Andy, the prince has a more buttery feel, no doubt, and more spin, I can put more volume with it. But the Dunlop has more power and plow, easier for me to hit long the line. Backspin is equal, amazing with both or them. Have fun.

Hi, and thank s for the video. I did played 1 year with Nova fs, was nice, but I had shoulder issues with it. Since that I switch to tfight 300rs that I really like but the grip doesn't t fit me very well, therefore still considering a swap. Both the cx400 tour and blade 100 are in my radar...what would be more confortable, bigger sweet spot and overall playable and movouverable? Itr 5, one hand backhand. Thank s

Hey Andy, to make sure I get this right. The CX400 Tour is way stiffer than the Speed MP but feels more solid and buttery at the same time?! Speed MP user here and this got me intrigued

Hey! Sounds odd I know but yes absolutely, whilst the speed has that low ish RA, the Cx 400 tour feels more plush and I for one feel way more connected with it than I do the speed Mp. I played a few sets against a friend last week, first speed mp, second Cx 400 tour, he felt my balls were heavier with the Dunlop too

How would you say the CX200 performs against the Pure Strike 16x19 please? I love the Pure Strike but the Dunlop looks interesting.
@jabirout
@jabirout 10 месяцев назад
Way less power with the Dunlop, easier to manœuvre and better backspin. Mine was 325 sw so very solid and feel is much much better on the Dunlop. To keep it short, easier to end the point with the strike 98 with heavy balls.
