I demoed 10 sticks in the last few months and the 2021 Dunlop CX 400 tour was it. I didn't have high hopes for it but it was great. The pocketing and feel are great. It also helps that I paid $125 usd strung. Glad to see content around the cx tour line.
@@TheBlessedLion the Dunlop has power and it has control. I’m using Technifibre x-one biphase at 52 lbs. It’s perfect for me. My serve is back to having some pace now. I’m coming from a Wilson Blade v8.
@@crsantin I'm well past 56 and just this year changed from a 95" Dunlop 200 to Blade 100. I tried the Blade 98 but but was after some more free power which the Blade 100 has.
It's been a while since I watched one of your racket review videos (been hooked on your podcasts). Your hitting and footwork looks much better than I recall. I like this format of showing the hitting whilst you talk through the review.
I've noticed in your racquets for one handed backhand videos there are usually 98 and smaller. Could you do a vid about 100sq in racquets for the OHBH?
I can sort of help out with this, I’ve got a very spin heavy aggressive 1HBH. I’ve been in search of a new smaller head size racket for a while. The pro staff V14 97, technifiber T-fight 315 were the best for me. But neither are as good ad the percept 100D. I would ignore the head size it’s more about the balance point and overall racket head speed imo.
You can use whatever you want basically, but there are imo two problems; 1) Spin racquets if you have a too much flat stroke, so total lack of control 2) Twistweight too high, like on a Gravity Pro or in a thick beam frame like a pure aero, that can be very slow on the swing.
@timwigglesworth6873 the 100D is on my short list. I am currently using a 2018 vcore pro 97. I love it and it's very much in inspirational racquet for me that I want to use and enjoy using. I however generally don't seem to have near enough game to use it all the time. Its very demanding
Finally a competitor to the Textreme Tour 100 310 2019. Great idea to film while stringing 😎 Would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the new prince phantoms when you receive them.
Switched to the old one when those frames went on sale for $99 USD everywhere. Really enjoying the playability vs my old 325g unstrung, 98 sqin. rackets.
I demoed this racquet and really liked it but sometimes I had some unpredictable launchiness on my shots with it, enough so that I decided not to make the switch. Really great feeling racquet, though, and i liked the look of it, too.
Really liked the last edition of this frame, really curious to try now. I’m loving the pure strike 100 16x20 and feel like it has the right blend of controllable power for me and my game
Hi Jonas , Thanks for your videos ! As you said this is a pretty arm friendly racquet depends on strings 3:48 . I just want to ask what kind of strings and set up ( string tension ) would you recommend for this racquet to accommodate the RA rating of 68 ? Thanks !
The guy in the green shorts and white shirt has notably short strokes - he reminds me of Mannarino. The Dunlop reminds me of the Revelation Tour Pro from the 1990s. It was a platform frame, very light, a bit more flexible than the CX 400 Tour and very low powered. Color of it was dark red and it was nice though I far prefer the Prestige these days.
I’m currently using the old version of the cx 400 tour and I like it but it might be a bit too stiff for me as I get some elbow and wrist pain sometimes when playing. If I can find a blade 100 v9 I might give that a go because it’s more flexible, but they didn’t sell the v8 at all in Canada 😢
Hi Jonas! If it's possible make a video about different ways of stringing and which method use less string and which method use the most!! I think it can be interesting because a lot thinks old methods of stringing use less but in my mind it doesn't make sense!! Thanks
I have been playing with blade 100 v9 I have all round game hit pretty flat, can't make my mind up about it! I feel its not as powerful as I expected mine was under spec as i chose it from TWE 298g 287SW and 3 points head light, indeed i found my Prokennex 295 ki5 to give me more power and I thought better control same tension same string. Ki5 is SW291 unstrung 16x20 Tight string pattern. As for the Speed MP compared to the Dunlop here, I am seriously confused. The speed mp has mixed reviews on RU-vid! e.g. Nerd you found it erratic, and high launch angle, and yet Bethanie Maddack Sands (probably got middle name wrong) who tried it for TW said her typical feed ball was going into the net! which suggests she found the launch angle to low! Also she said her shots with the MP were landing short and the speed lacked power! Indeed she said her Gravity MP was getting better depth etc.whilst other reviewers have all mixed feelings about it some sayings its great and does everything well whilst others not so sure! However I find Bethanie take on it to be interesting since she is a Pro, she was having to change her swing to get the Speed MP to go over with depth rather than in the net! Do you have any theories on the seemingly large disparity of opinions particularly more so with the Speed MP 2024?
I use the older version, I thought about updating to this but Im a little concerned about the open pattern. I have a feeling this version is more powerful than the older version.
Would love your take on one handed backhands and racquets larger than 98 sq. in.. I feel like anything above 98 sq. in. is hard to control for a one hander.
I’d be I interested to see how this stick compares with the 2021 Vcore 100 v6. Lots of WTA players still using the older model. I thought I saw one of those sticks in your collection with 10com.
That's a good question. I currently play with Yonex SV100 and it has been the best Yonex 100 racquet I have ever played with and so no wonder it's still very popular on the WTA tour. I play with a full bed of YPT Fire 16g at 45 and my TE issue disappeared !!
Cx200 tour 16 x 19is best racket on market. U shoukd revuew it. I think u'd b suprised because i think u would b competitive with ut against any opponent as it as putaway power. Best racket i've ever used .
Interesting. I loved the CX 200+ but can't find them anymore. I've gone full nuclear anyway with my 2 Volkl V1 Oversize (1 V-Sense and 1 V-Cell :) But I'm still carrying a customized Dunlop FX 700 as a backup if I need more "control." (lmao :) As a nerd, I want one or three of these because Jonas plays a similar game style to mine apart from using the wrong hand and making so many more balls (but that could be careful editing :) Seriously, Dunlop is badass these days--just ask Draper, Felix, and Mouratoglau :)
I have a question which I hope is not too stupid. My younger sister has a vcore 97L (280g), but now that she's a bit older and stronger and after trying out my head extreme mp, she favours something heavier in the 305g range. Would adding lead tape turn the racket into a regular vcore, or is L model fundamentally a different racket and it would be better to just buy something that comes stock in that weight?
Grazie mille
I am looking for an alternative to the rf97. I like the solid, firm feel on contact (one handed bh) I also have a 2015 pro staff 97 but it has a very different feel. To me it feels unpredictable and flexy. Maybe the v14 is different, but I'm looking for a 300g alternative. Can the CX400 Tour be an alternative to the rf97 in terms of feel?
They are very similar, I just got this question on my member's Q&A. It is a matter of feel, so I would suggest a demo. The Blade V8 100 and former Dunlop CX 400 Tour are probably both on sale and still very good, so those are worth considering!
