Ok guys I misspoke on the pinch explanation for the Manifold. Sorry about that. The pinch is only on the driver side. But thanks for the comments I appreciate the support on the channel!
Truck Master once I install my manifold and up pipes will I still need my egr delete kit, just with out the blocker plate ?? I just started on all of the dmax necessities and am new to the game. Thanks!! Keep the videos coming.
I didn’t change the up pipe i was to afraid of snapping the bolt up top and turning this job into a nightmare. It is my daily driver so I didn’t want to go through the hassle just yet. But I did change the exhaust manifold and yes the three bolts that are connected to the up pipe they all snapped off but thank God for your vid and the heads up on buying new bolts ahead of time because yes they all broke. Thanks man
I just want to tell you how much I appreciate you taking the extra time that you take to film and record your work to help others! I have made a couple videos for you tube and I know that this makes the job take at least twice as long. Thank you! Thank you and God bless!
Doing mine this weekend..driving 5 hrs. To eastern ky. After all the prep. for brother. He says the heat from the drive will allow him break it loose with ease assuming it's ready for him to crawl into upon my arrival..great content.your a true treasure.
IT’S ALIVE!!!! LOL! Glad you got her going Josh! Understandable on the decision to wait on the PPE upgrade! I can bet majority of your followers are on a budget as well and sometimes have to choose function over fashion! Great job tackling the broken bolts in the pedestal!
Night before you work on it.. especially up pipes.. exhaust manifolds...turbine side of turbo..I spray the bolts with knocker loose and when reinstalling always you anti seize..a person can also right before you use the ratchet or breaker bar..and if you have the room..put the socket on the bolt and smack it with a hammer and it will "shock" and help with the breaking it loose.
Spray isnt enough, me personally I wouldnt risk the headache of breaking a bolt in the manifolds turbo pedestal, and any bolt for that matter. If you have access, OXY acetylene is the way to go. Especially in salt belts, costs a bit more but pretty much ensures a successful job.
Truck Master I sure hope so. I took it on a long trip this winter (-10° to -15°f) and my pcv re route froze up causing the turbo to leak oil out the exhaust. My next project is figuring out a a solution to the pcv freezing up.
Awesome dude! Yeah getting good footage of the turbo pedestal is a cramped situation! I replaced my up-pipes "Stevie Wonder Style"... Oh, and my bellow blew out completely! No boost and loud exhaust noise!
Oh one more thing I've just got my EGR delete pipe in to install this weekend truck has already been program turned,,Your videos are Great,, Thanks Mike
Great video as always! I have a 2005 LLY. I’m about to order my top end gasket kit, ARP studs, and grade c gaskets. Also doing the y bridge and intercooler pipes too. That video would be great!!!
Paul Omalley be prepared for lots of hours. I just did my lly headgaskets and ARP studs. You may want to consider pulling the motor if you are equipped. It is a bitch doing the job in the body. I got it done by myself and it just takes time and patience. Good luck
Hey you guys with LLy's...what can we do to get our lly to sound like a LBZ? I love my lly, but I wish my turbo and exhaust had more authority! I changed the intake and elbow and the down pipe, but still does not sound like a LBZ. Will simply changing the exhaust do the trick? I have a 2004.5 gmc sierra 3500 dually 4x4, Any suggestions? Please don't say sell it and buy a LBZ!
Andre Maritz thank you for your reply! Will I be able to hear the turbo spool, maybe a whistle perhaps? I am going to do this as my next modification. What other modifications have you done? Thanks again!
markherron69 not much man. I live in California unfortunately so everything I do I have to undo to smog it every 2 years. For durability you just want to do the turbo mouth piece, pcv rerout and egr block or delete on the lly. Performance upgrades is endless but remember the more you do the more she is going to break. They are not cheap. If you have a stock trans with big tunes you will blow up your allison very fast. Start with a built trans and go from there if you want power
Good old Lly headgaskets. Have fun. I never want to do that job again. Every LLY owner has to be prepared for when it blows headgaskets and the do it right with ARP studs. Mine blew at 214k miles on it.
Truck Master if I had to do it over I would pull the motor. It will be easier. Took me about 60 hours in my driveway and mostly worked on it in the dark after work so that didn't help. Wish I had extra money laying around so that I could have replaced the injectors and the cp3 while I had everything apart. I did replace all the rubber fuel and coolant lines . They pretty much break anyway trying to fight them off.
It looks like he is barely clearing the garage roof and door with the truck. Over inflated tires will probably put him over the top and into the door. Great videos, I look forward to watching them. Thanks
I have an 09 LMM and I was getting pretty good in city gas mileage until recently, getting 13 - 14 city, 16 - 17 on highway which is much worse then I was getting previously. I’m running a mini max tune, def delete full, and nothing has changed since I bought the truck until recently. I’ve done the easy stuff ( new air filter Donaldson power core), tune up,
I have an 08 LMM with 94,000 miles and I get the same with all stock components. Might wanna check your injector balance ratios. Or your pump. Maybe even the fuel bleeder valve on your truck. Also is a fuel line valve plug thing that could be causing your economy to drop as well.
Hey man I'm enjoying your videos I am going to replace my up pipes and my downpipe and I was talkin to someone that has done many of these he said to give you more room behind the turbo to take the two bolts from your transmission support and jack it up after you take the bottom down pipe clamp loose first and that will give you a lot more room
The down pipe with the 3 ends on it you said the EGI would have been that as well as leaking from so as ever her delete pipe you have are you put in just a regular up pipe back in this place
I’ve had an 04 Silverado & still have my 07 GMC Sierra 2500HD duramax , & I’ve considered doing a few upgrades but after watching a few videos & looking at costs & time , I’m thinking 🤔 stock is looking better all the time, Plus it’s got plenty of power & performance to do what I need to do. Good video but not for me.
I love doing up grades to my truck and a lift. But I have refrained on my duramax because we regularly use it for hauling livestock. We just had to replace the transmission and transfer case. The shop and my coworker said they never seen an allison go that many miles. Allisons only last between 150,000 - 200,000 miles. We got 293,000 miles. And now the engine has too many miles for any power adders except maybe exhaust and air intake. Exhaust is still original and in excellent shape ( not much rain here in the central valley of California) so I think this truck will stay stock until it quits on me. And I'll just have to rebuild my 69 chevy 3/4 ton four wheel drive again. Can't do anything in California because of smog every two years anyway and switching stuff to pass is a bitch. Not doing that anymore. Your videos are awesome but now I'm worried about head gaskets. I think that will be too much for me.
Truck master, when that up pipe cracked, did you notice a loss of boost at all since the exhaust helps spin the turbo? Or just notice loud exhaust noise from the leak from the crack.
I wish I knew you needed a up pipe I had a like new Lb7 up pipe and manifold I would’ve jus ship it to ya. I ordered the PPE they are a very nice piece
It is extremely hard to find real world data on EGTs before and after installing the BD driver's side manifold on one of these trucks. Is this something you think you could get behind?
I'm new to the diesels. I have a 2006 duramax 6.6 3500. Just found that the exhaust up pipe blew out like yours. Is that the reason I have no boost at all?
Do you think you could fit some of the new right angle compact impact wrenches on the turbo up pipe bolts? I know one I was looking at had a head 3.46” long and was rated at 415 ft/lbs.
I have the 2005 Duramax, I just want a little sound, but I don't care for the turbo whine. Should I do the 4 inch exhaust with new down pipe and leave the muffler? thanks
High grade oil, thermostats, fuel additive. Still no improvement. My truck still does have the EGR system and after watching some videos and seeing how nasty some are after 150,000 I’m thinking that is my kulprit being my truck is at 270,000. Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated before I spend the $700 for a y bridge and up pipe and a full EGR delete
Did you soak your bolts with kroil or pb vefor hand or yoi just go at it im about to do my lly and my buddy soaked his over night with kroil and his brome loose easy for us
Truck Master I did the same thing but I took my old up pipe and grinded that piece off it was just tack welded so i think I’m gonna put that back on soon just for extra support. It was easy to grind off.
Hey truck master I was hoping you could do a quick vid or just reply to this comment I noticed you've been ask this question before but can't find your answer why don't you have CV spacers? Where did you get CVs that fit without spacers? I have same truck different year same size lift just looking to have the same CV set up as you thanks for any of your help in advance love the videos keep it up!
Hey truckmaster, I ordered the WC High flow bundle kit and new up pipes for my lbz, im trying to delete my egr as soon as my WC HI flow kit and up pipes come in, which egr kit should i use?
I bought a new up pipe for my 07 chevy dmax classic and had trouble getting stock downpipe back on maybe I got the wrong up pipe trouble getting it all the way back on the turbo what do you think
Hey Truck Master,,Off this subject but I've got a 2013 3500HD LML 6.6 turbo diesel,,I want the black mirrors with the amber litghts on the back side to be on with my marker lights,,Any Pick for Me ?? Thanks Mike Blue Mule in Ky
So the bolts that are not likely to break are the ones that are on the up pipe correct? I bought a new exhaust manifold but I didn’t want to do the up pipe just yet. What should I expect on replacing the Manifold?
+brian phelps it doesn’t always happen it’s luck of the draw I guess but your right that blocker plate can cause those bellows to fail and cause a leak
hey bud. Followed your advice and got the egr delete kit and lb7 up pipe. wondering tho, can i just do the lb7 up pipe up grade and wait on the egr? or does the egr have to come out too?
I'm having a bitch of a time getting the heat shield out over the uppipe on the drivers side. Do I try to cut that thing out of there? Do we take it up thu the top or the bottom. I have an 05 LLY. Channel is very informative! Rock on!
Drivers side heat shield...jacked up the truck and attacked it from under. Wiggled and bent it and it came out. Had great luck with Free all oil to soak it all. Passenger and drivers side uppipes, BD Manifold and MBRP downpipe done years ago. Pusher Y Bridge and hot, cold next at bat...Hooah!
Hey man .I like your videos .you help me a lot .I did a ger delete .I didn't see a big change in the power of it after that.but I got a question .what the best way to get rid of the check engine light that's on it .
Just did mine took 4 hrs. Cut it and bend it and wiggle and jiggle. Take off the control module bracket to the right of the turbo for more room. Mines not going back on.
