I know it's subjective, but this, for me at least, is the best track Duran Duran have ever produced. It doesn't scream in your face, it isn't brash, in fact, it's the polar opposite. It's soft and calming and gentle, and as a 54 year old boy from Birmingham, The Chauffeur and Duran Duran are two of the very limited reasons I am proud to be a Brummie. Thank you Simon, Nick, John, Roger and Andy for giving me my favourite childhood memories. This will be one of the tracks I have at my funeral. Beautiful.
The strangest thing about this performance is that it is superior to the original track on 'Rio'. It's clear the band is very proud of this particular song, which never got the attention it truly deserved.
Me too..best live band in the whole world love Simon there so underestimated, glad they proved all those sceptic all wrong more than pretty good looking guys .wish them all the best in there new up coming album in the autum....
It's songs like this that prove DD was never the shallow boy band people tried to say they were just because they were fashion-savvy and good looking. Still one of my favorites.
Yes, I've never ever thought of DD as just another fly-by-the-moment, shallow boy band (many of which certainly came after the Duran Duran era). DD's music is much too complex, thoughtful, and original to meet the "boy band" qualification. They're one of the few bands whose every song I've listened to over and over through the years, while still finding them fresh and energizing!
so true..."my envied lady holds you fast in her gaze"...and that's just the lyrics I'm high on...listen to the layers...listen at any time of day...in any mood...brilliant
I would be in heaven!!! I love this band immensely. This song, yassss!!! Simon looks AMAZING as usual and so does Nick, John, and Roger..you are okay Dom. ❤❤❤❤🔥🔥🔥
Same here dude...Man that was an incredible night. I am glad this is finally going to be released. Wish it was the actual concert though, but a double cd is nice too..Angelo Badlamenti is one of my favorite composers. That night was pure magic. Will remember it forever...
Simon’s voice hasn’t changed at all in 40 years! Duran Duran is STILL one of the most influential and popular bands out there! Going strong and still evolving 40 years later - and only getting better as they keep going!
@@mattma96 He was a really pretty guy, as was all the band. It is 2022, and we all get old and our looks fade, sorry to say. It is just a fact of life... hey, but they can still kill it as a band!
When I was a teenager my Uncle told me when I grew up I wouldn’t care about Duran Duran, that they were a fad. I am 52 and they are still the best band of all time. Especially live. And I met Simon and Nick in the early 2000’s. We drank red wine and at French fries in Boston after their show. Best night ever. Even better story and memory ❤
Their longevity show that they were not just an 80's boy band. These guys make great music. They perform with class, they don't run on stage shirtless, they dress like men and they perform like veterans of music. The Chauffeur was done in the early 80's but if they released this song today, it would be a huge hit . Can't wait for their new album this fall. Keep smiling 🤘😃
Is that Ocarina he is playing a soprano in D? I know random question, but we are covering this song soon, and I have never played one of these, but may be trying
@@FacheChanteDeux It was the perfect end for an album that was undoubtedly structured as a performance of two complementing sides. The way the song ends is the reverse in many ways of how Rio begins. Or maybe I'm reading way too much into it.
Man, Simon's voice just kept so pure and powerful. He never lost it even after all these years. That's impressive! All the members are incredible together. Especially when Andy was with them, they had such amazing chemistry together.
@@deepeaumm Yeah? I'm not stuck in the past, so do understand that music eras must change, but can you name another band of today equivalent to DD in their day? Music meant so much more than music back in the 80s.
There is a special magic to having music that effectively solves time travel, transporting a person back to when they were 13 and being swathed in the all-encompassing thrall of sound, transcending the mundane worries of adolescence into a glimpse of the Universe's potential and knowing one is a part of that great mystery. Everything is eternally new, and the aged cynic is washed again with fresh wonder.
Nailed it! I can’t believe how great they sound after so many years! Simon’s voice is amazing . And they look incredible. Just wow! One of my all time fav Duran Duran songs.
What a performance!!! Simon's singular voice keeps perfect for his age. For sure the "Duranies" are on the run. I'm from Brazil. A fan since 1983 when I was 15.
In a world of average taste it's a honour being underrated, the prerogative that compels to a sad fate the greatest artists. Duran Duran are not for everyone, the rest stays the rest.
I truly believe that Rio is one of the best albums ever made and possibly the best new wave album, ever. As I have aged I appreciate its truly eerie and haunting soundscape, the wonderfully strange and beautiful lyrics written by Simon, and the band’s fantastic musicianship even more..I can listen to this beauty of a song thousands of times and still find something new to admire…gorgeous
Holy cow this is AMAZING! There is a reason I've always loved Duran Duran and it's not just because they are beautiful but their music is amazing and they are true artists and always have been.
One of my favorites...and very surprised that at 52 I can still remember all the words after not hearing the song for many many years! Brought back a lot of high school memories for me. Thanks for sharing!
I've been listening to that song since the time it came out almost 40 years ago and I still never get bored of listening to it again and again. So emotional and inspired. A masterpiece. Why people let pop music go so wrong?
Мне 53,обожаю Дюранов с 1984(с детства))).Но лучшее для меня именно с 1981-1984,я на этом периоде эйфорию поймал.В 90х есть супертреки,но начало 80х - эталон!
The fellas taught me how to dance, dress, style my hair, got me into Patrick Nagel, every album was apart of my life from the “Astronaut” album to “Red Carpet Massacre” Was when my 18 yr marriage dissolved. What I’m trying to convey is “Thru it all the greatest teachers and 5 big brothers a Pismo beach surfer could ever hope for was The Wild Boys The New Romantic Gods Duran Duran Thank you for never letting me down, when everything else in Life did🙏🏽
This wonderful song made me fell in LOVE with Duran Duran! I can never, ever get enough of it... the melody stays in my heart forever! Their hits are great but this classic is beyond hits.
This is just a great song..and think it dates from 1978........easily one of the best songs they ever did, and there's many. Formative years for me back then and we all liked them.
