The chauffeur has been my favorite song ever since 1982 when I heard it on vinyl. I'm sure Duran Duran smiled when they heard this because they are still so cool. Good on you Jonathan!
For me, a real musician and a person who really loves music is a person open to all type of stuff, who never got stuck in genres. I always been a hard rock guy, metal, punk, alternative and all that heavy good stuff but like Mr. Davis here, I remember me back when I was a kid, hiding from my metal head friends to listen to Donna Summer, Kc and the Sunshine, Blondie, Duran Duran, Culture Club, Depeche, Cars, Beastie Boys, Madonna, Michael Jackson, etc, etc. I never understood why they didn't enjoy all that stuff too. Now I understand, some of us are open to the universe, others... not so much.
Korn needs to do a cover of this for sure u love Duran Duran since 82 I'm 56& I saw Duran Duran in 84 my junior year of highschool; Duran Duran beyond awesome musicians hand's down 💯🎹🎶🎶🎶
thank you today and ever more for this unforgettable and frequently revisited cover of truly the best song of Duran Duran and chiseled in stone in my personal top three.
Right!! My daughter was a metal head but I was a complete Duran freak as a kid so she grew up listening to Duran Duran with me. This made her day years ago when this went down.
Heard the chauffer for the first time today and instantly fell in love with it, can’t believe one of my favourite singers Johnathan David is a big fan too, I had no idea!
It's amazing how Jonathan Davis can make this song very much his own while remaining completely faithful to the spirit of the original song. Great version!
Jonathan, why haven't you recorded a PROFESSIONAL cover of this song yet (like Deftones has)? I think you'd do WONDERFUL. The world NEEDS your rendition. You capture the passion of Duran Duran.
I feel like we're all at the end of the original Revenge of the Nerds movie joining together. I'm ready to come out now as a huge, longtime, formerly-in-the-closet, Duran Duran fan.
Yeah. I was 11 in 1986, LOVED deathRock/punk & 'new wave' (Duran Duran, The Cure, etcetc)mainly Christian Death/Siouxsie/Rudimentary Peni/Skinny Puppy, ETC. So it's f'n great to discover that some of my current fave bands like em too!!!
Agreed. When this came out in 82 I was already into Bauhaus, definitely The Cure, Joy Division like basically anything British and dark! I'm 47 now and I still claim mod and wear my doc martens with dresses! Great to hear John loves this song as much as I do.
See the thing is that it's not SUPPOSED to be exactly like the original version. Jonathan holds he song and the band extremely close to his heart and by covering it he's paying homage to Duran Duran. Not playing copycat. The Deftones' version didn't sound exactly like the original either, did it? Because it's a COVER. I personally like both. If all covers sounded like the originals then there would be no point.
yo whats up bro, um just sort of curious here, cuz you seem kind of desperate to talk about it anyway, but uhhhh what song in 2000 from korn saved your life exactly?
Johnathan, I agree with you 100%!! I was a Duran Duran fan!!! And I love you too!! I'm a big Korn & metal fan !! I knew Duran Duran was/is a ROCK band! It's all clear now!-)) What another wonderful cover!! After Deftones, a Korn Chauffer's cover (by the way, one of my Duran Duran favorite)!!! You fuckin' made my day!!!
I dont like his music much, or his voice for that matter. But his dedication makes me respect the hell out of him.. Duran Duran was the best pop rock band in history in my book. This actually isn't a bad cover... U can tell he owns it...
The first thing is to create it make a good cover it is easy because the difficul is done thanks for the great covers of classic of the music all kind of styles
After my original comment above (made over a year ago) I have really come to love his version. I am a HUGE DD fan... and Jonathan "gets" this song... the Deftones version doesn't do that for me. Bravo Jonathan! and thanks for recognizing DD's brilliance!
I love this speech =D can relate to it a bit well not the new romanic stuff but I got shit for wanting to grow my hair and listen to bands such as korn XD
