Giannis, Ben Simmons and Rudy Gobert are all the same type of person. They all 3 have big contracts(well ben simmons will soon)an all 3 are "known" for either winning DPOY or in the running every year, they all 3 cant shoot and guess what since they all cant shoot look at all of their respective teams in the playoffs....down 3-2 and on the brink of elimination. I just pray to god Zion Williamson has a great off season trainer(or spends money on a renowned shooting coach or trainer) so he can develop his shooting skills because I dont want him to end up like them. These guys had MANY years EVERY OFFSEASON to develop their offensive games and they didnt. I dont expect Rudy Gobert to miraculously come out next season shooting 3s but i EXPECT him to develop some type of post game, dependable hook shot, mid range shot or fade, back to the basket tim duncan type of moves. I expected Bem Simmons to be able to shoot a consistent mid range jumper no problem. I expect the same from Giannis from 3pt land. Thats how you better your game. For all 3 players(other than Zion) they have been in the league for 5+ years so theres NO EXCUSE for their development. And this is why teams like these lose and never win a championship but always do a good job of getting close. YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH BEING A ONE WAY OFFENSIVE PLAYER IN THE NBA BUT YOU CANT GET AWAY IN THE NBA BEING A ONE WAY DEFENSIVE PLAYER.
Basically what i was trying to say is offensive ONLY players can get by in the NBA and in these playoffs without playing defense BUT defensive oriented players will get destroyed...we are seeing that with Patrick Beverly, Jrue Holiday, Giannis, Ben Simmons and even Rudy Gobert was getting manhandled by Zubac at one point last game. The long urban legend narrative that defense wins championships is dead. That was for the 90s david stern era. Since then newer rules disallowed defenders to simply.....DEFEND because the NBA wanted more higher scoring games to improve viewership/profitability etc. So it really dont pay to play defense if you yourself have offense. Now if you cant simply shoot a wide open mid range you are not gonna make it in the nba long.
When I tell you I’m more then fed up with the buck rn bud is a not adjusting ass bitch and Giannis is scary asl for not guarding kd. I’m the biggest Giannis fan and have been since 2014 but this just ain’t it bro.
So we just forget what happened in game 3 and 4? Bucks weren't supposed to beat the superteam Nets. The Nets without Kyrie still have two top 5 players.
@@allenmk138 Yes, but none of that is relevant. The Bucks have been given so many freebies yet throw them all away. Game 1 Harden is out the whole game and it's just KD and Kyrie. That's a normal team to face Then tonight's game where Kyrie was out and Harden fresh off an injury playing so bad he only made 1 shot. Yet the Bucks still lost
@@allenmk138 BS when one of them is out it’s just a great team. Great team vs great team. KD has just been the best player in the series and honestly has shown that he’s the best player on the planet as he was before he got injured.
@@SpeedHomeAttack A team with KD and Harden is supposed to beat the Bucks. Can you Imagine if Giannis had Steph on his team? That's what the Nets are without Kyrie. Keep the same energy y'all had with the Warriors. This ring should also be worthless if the Nets win.
@@dabilaroali1037 LeBron game took off when he added a post game plus it would force him to work on his skill! You make a great point if he had a sky hook omg
I just learned about this now, but I have the game recorded and I totally agree with what you've said. I was listening to the Thinking Basketball podcast the other day and the host, Ben Taylor, was talking about something that's been happening in the last few playoffs. I noticed it as well: guys are getting played out of lineups because playoff teams are super-precise now about attacking mismatches. Budenholzer's scheme is effective, but he doesn't seem to adjust well during the course of a series, and, given what I've seen out of them the past few years (Taylor's talked about this as well, btw), I think we're probably seeing a team that overachieves in the regular season and comes back to earth in the playoffs, since play in a weaker conference, defense throughout the league is looser in the regular season, and, in the playoffs, however, teams have more reps and are more familiar with the Bucks' scheme. Bballbreakdown and others have taken a look at Giannis's shooting motion as well, and it seems clear someone on the Bucks' staff messed it up. It's getting better, but he may have permanently lost his chance to become a good 3-point shooter. Anyways, I don't blame Giannis for any of this. Still love him and Middleton, but something needs to change in Milwaukee.
That's how I feel about Kawhi. All I want is to see them face each other in the Finals. I was robbed of this wish in 2019, and now I have to root for the damn clippers to make it a reality.
@@AdolphSaxOfficial a Nets Clippers Finals will be insane I’m praying they both are able to make it that far healthy. KD and Kawhi ALWAYS show up in the Finals. People discredit KDs FMVPS for being on GSW but he was performing on the highest stage before that. At 23 years old 30 PPG 50% FG on the LeBron Bosh Wade Heat. Kawhi and KD have both been going at it for the title of best in the world rn IMO. A Finals between them and the winner will really cement who’s the best.
I used to hate on how much help KD has gotten over the past few years, but overall this guy is a Generational Talent; regardless of who he’s playing with. 💯
Not even on no recency bias shit, if we take into account everything that went into this game, KD is without his two stars that form their Big 3, people were counting him out and saying he couldn't carry the Nets to a win, the Bucks were up by almost 20 at one point, plus his statline (a statline that's never been achieved before in playoff history) of 49, 17, and 10...KD arguably just put on a top 5 performance from any player ever. Greatness
@@fernandocastan7656 cuz he was coming at me on a different comment saying it’s not even close and that I don’t watch basketball .. nigga obviously was mad kd did that tonight
I think his results is going to lead to a sea change in regards to Achilles injuries. Most try to come back after being out for a year and they don’t come back the same. He took TWO whole years off and he’s better than ever. I think the key is to really let players take the time to recover for long term gain.
@@TheGeorgeD13 I think it’s more the fact that he tore his Achilles in his non-dominant leg unlike most stars. That happened with Wilkins too which is why both of them came back the same. I might be wrong though.
@@tejanerella2004, good analysis. Maybe, but I feel like there would be more examples then Wilkins and Durant. Which Achilles did Kobe tear is a good question.
Not me, though I couldn't expect Jeff Green and Blake exploding the clock back and also eliminating every injury and mileage they had. I didn't even think Harden would be there, instead he was there providing infinite value and confidence to the team on top of dimes and defense. You basically can't expect for better teammates or better back coverage, while you go crazy.
Kris Middleton does not go to the rim in crunch time to draw fouls despite being a 90% Free throw shooter Also lack of play making around the Greek. He is there best passer They keep running pick and roll with Greek he has his man beat for an alley hoop and they Holiday and Middleton can never make the pass But yeah let’s blame Greek 34/12/4 on 66% FG Because of a few shots you guys don’t like him taking. No player is perfect they all can do better but no excuse to keep running pick and roll and not find Greek for easier baskets they are literally only really focus on him If they win nobody praises Greek when they lose it’s his fault same old story as most superstars I get it but why people acting like Dude not doing his part his co-Stars are not playing crazy when they need to either in the loses Middleton touch the ball a lot Holiday did as well and look out of sink
Dude on the last play Khris drove and HANDED Giannis the ball at the rim and he dropped it. He missed key ft and kept taking ill advised shots like fadeaway on Harden, Giannis and Bud have to bear the blame. He said we shouldn’t play with our food but then did last night can’t even practice what he preaches
I’m so proud of Kevin Durant man. I’m not a huge KD fan but I love basketball and I love when a player puts on narrative changing performance. That shit is so fucking inspiring.
Kevin Durant had an all time legendary performance nobody can deny that but I don’t understand how 1 game in the second round proves he can win a championship as the main guy he still ain’t done that props to him on an iconic performance tho
Man this was that pivotal playoff game where they come back from a huge deficit with epic music and your best player putting up legendary numbers in that Championship DVD!
Bro I’ve been thinking that same thing too about Giannis needing to stop handling the ball from the top. He’s quick as fuck and has a decent handle but I’d much rather see him use those qualities in the post. Can you imagine if the man started in the mid post and had even just a couple Hakeem-like post skills? He would be unguardable. That man is so damn quick, and if he had a really solid post game, nobody would be able to stop him. Man would average 35 PPG
the game in the background is perfect bc it has the bucks up big and then going on to lose in the clutch. led by giannis dribbling at the top of the key and just driving and doing spin moves in the post and failing to deliver. meanwhile the discussion is pretty much about the same thing.
All through the video one play came to mind. Mid in the 4th, Giannis clapping for the ball up top, finally gets it, barrels into the defense and draws a charge. I saw it coming yesterday smh
Budenholzer will be fired after this series. Middleton will probably be traded. The Bucks organization has to decide: either Giannis improves his game or he can't be your best player. Pure and simple.
Or at least Giannis having drive and care, save the fumbling and choking all-game, how can you escape to take fadeaways and brick? Or not take the KD matchup? Also as the superstar defender and DPOY?
After he's been air balling free throws and has NO SHOT, this was a long time coming. Even Lebron could hit a turn around mid range in his earlier years.
@@moballardful Not even that, you could rely on Lebron on the offensive matchup, take, dimes, shot selection, clutch, defensive matchup, clock managing, lead managing, right play, drive/motor, care, ball handling and playmaking, hell he was ''reliable'' on the most basic sense even, unlike this prime superstar. Hell, you could even expect him to be a suddenly sure make on the post and free throw line if the game or occasion were big enough.
I expected the Nets to lose this game, not because of KD, but because i thought the bucks were just too much for one guy. Even if he loses in 7, the fact that he got this game will be enough for me, because the only thing that i cared about was for KD to at least go down swinging. We always expect Lebron to rise and beat better teams without his stars when they are injured, and if he wanted the same respect as Lebron he had to demonstrate that he can at least give you the best performance that he can have, then the rest is up to his teammates and the other team. Because of his career after OKC, people (me included) looked at him a little bit different, but if he wins this series and the championship without major help from Kyrie and Harden he will be the best player in the world. He has nothing to lose, but a lot to gain in my opinion legacy wise.
Bucks fan twitters already said it: they are simply out-coached in 3rd quarter. Chuckster said it: they are dumb. I still think that this team doesn't have the clutch factor, simply coach Bud cannot devise any clever last minute inbound plays nor Giannis or Middleton is the type of star you would want to take that buzzer beater shot. Yes Kawhi choked, Steph Curry may disappoints, everyone does, but these people rarely show consistency in having cold feet like my favourite Greek star here.
Correct me if I'm wrong (because I'm not a hooper, and a relatively new fan of the game), but I learned something from this series, there are two parts of basketball. The skills/fundamentals, and the athleticism. Having both at a generational level is a big bonus (Jordan & Lebron), but at the end of the day, skills and fundamentals are more important than athleticism.
@Jean-Patrice Paluku of course there is a base level of athleticism that is needed to even be on an NBA roster, I agree with you on that. The point I’m making is that, someone is better off having a base level athleticism but very polished skill and IQ, ala Luka Doncic, versus having supreme athletic gifts, but average skill/IQ, like Dennis Smith Jr (although Luka’s athleticism is pretty underrated, for example, his deceleration).
KD-esque and Lebron-esque performance, with all-time role players behind you doing their best 2011 Mavs performance and looking offensive stars with no injuries or mileage in them. Giannis won't be held accountable yet again though, and despite having to do just one of the many things he didn't want to, to win up 20 vs this Nets team.
@@nbabackcourtmedia He literally isn't getting it already, yet again people aren't looking at his way at all and people are screaming and bashing on his coach, Khris (yet again those targets lol), his team etc. And despite all the insane things he pulled all game long, which I bet made every Bucks fan's hair go white or made them turn off the TV.
Don't discount Harden this way. He was injured but was the table setter for a LOT of Brooklyn's actions where KD didn't shoot. And Jeff Green was 7/7 from 3pt range until midway thru the 4th quarter. Brooklyn came out to support KD in a major way.
KD played great but he has hit so many insane shots in the clutch that it’s expected now in a way (similar to the almost double clutch he made from the harden pass)
I thought those 2015 Hawks were called Spurs of the east because of their ball movement so why are the bucks pretty stagnant/ISO heavy? Can someone explain because I wasn't that big an NBA fan then to pay attention
I think it mainly has to do with the rosters of those teams. The hawks just had a bunch of good (not true all stars)players in their starting lineup whereas the bucks have an all time great talent in giannis and a great supporting cast so the play style is bound to be different
S/O to Kevin Durant and Jeff Green but damn, Middleton once again showing the Bucks organization why he is NOT a second option. They need a true second star.
Giannis cannot be trusted late in games. His ball skills and inability to consistently score in half court situations is a fatal flaw. Middleton cannot be the go to guy of a championship team.
Nick Wright called it exactly right though.. Nick said exactly what happened. "If PJ Tucker gets 2 fouls in the 1st, KD WILL go off." he also said that he'd "need a triple double performance like we've seen from LeBron and Luka. He can't just be Jordan/Kobe." Everything that Nick said was facts lol, didn't say he couldn't, just said what he'd need to do and he did it. That's it
kd played amazing tonight, point blank - the nets still have to close it out b/c the bucks are a good team still but dude was uncanny tonight but coach bud but might wanna have his assistant packing his stuff up asap tbh
The people who thought that Kd couldn't have one great game to win against a good team are stupid. If people said something like he could have a great game but still lose the series if he doesn't have harden or kyrie , then I could understand. He can have bad games after that because he would be the main focus and that has happened with Kd and its fine but saying he couldn't have a great game because he didn't have a super team is stupid.
There's a lot more between coaches than just good or bad. I think Bud is the kind of guy who's good at elevating low and mid tier talent but doesn't know how to take advantage of the top level guys
KD shut the haters down tonight. Dropped 49 against a team they thought were a finals contender. They need to close it out in game 6 but other than that can’t say anything more besides KD is unreal. The possible series between Phoenix and Nets is gonna be nuts
That was KD’s greatest playoff performance just generational stuff. On the flip side I’m very disappointed in Giannis I didn’t want to admit it because as a 2X MVP!! it didn’t add up but Giannis really might be the guy that can’t be a 1 on a title team. I know Middleton can’t be the Kobe to your Shaq but Giannis himself has an identity crisis as a player. He should be playing like a modern day but he tries to be a wing. The guy’s IQ was fully exposed in that 4th quarter the man was SHOOK. The less said about Bud the better the guy is a terrorist.
That moment when Giannis dropped the pass from Miiddleton was probably the best moment of the game. Ay but I still believe in Giannis, give him time and he will change his entire narrative.
You're saying this in yet another narrative-changing year where everyone swore on how he was about to prove everyone how he is a Playoffs performer and all. Even if in the future that will happen (with Lebron, KD, Curry etc retired), all of this should just be easily canceled? This has just been embarassing, it consistently happens every big occasion with Giannis.
@@dusk6159 i think after enough times hes going to learn to step up to the moment. I mean he is going to continue being in the playoffs almost every year. Its not like he isnt talented enough or physically capable. Its all mental and he just needs time to age
I kept saying he needed to go for 50, but nah KD does better by getting 49pt triple double 🤯🤯🤯. Giannis although he's playing good, almost great, is infuriating because he's not taking charge like he should be whether on defensive assignments or taking advantage of offensive mismatches. Giannis and KD are my favorite players so this series is both awesome and crappy at the same time lol. I also wanted the Bucks to get CP for his leadership because I don't Giannis learned how to lead yet, and also filled out a facilitator role.
There has to be an alternative universe where Giannis doesn’t shoot jumpers/fadeaways, doesn’t handle the ball at the top of the key and KD doesn’t one man team the bucks. Guess we will never know
KD is arguably the best scorer in NBA in history (in my opinon he is), and his legacy as one of the all time greats is pretty much set in stone, but if he is to dish out several games like this the last 4-5 years of his career we will start putting him on the NBAs Mount Rushmore.
Tbh this is the first tome kd showed he can lead a team like ever that’s sad he’s always had a good situation compared to Lebron who had to do this basically his whole career and if James and kyrie play and they win the finals I’m still not Impressed it’s still a super team, this was a special night and all time performance by kd but in the hindsight of things this won’t move the needle
If they go at harden like you said it would look like there trying to reinjury him at least that's what people would think but then others say they shouldn't put him on then court then but honestly if they wanna win going at a injured player are they really winners ?
I don't think it's about Giannis guarding KD but more so about the fact that he didn't see any traps, blitzes and the doubles he did see were incredibly soft not hard double teams where he was forced to immediately get rid of the ball. With no Kyrie and 5% Harden those are the types of coverages KD needs to see. Either you make him a 50 point scorer or a 15 Assist playmaker. You can't make him both as seen in this game. However Kudos to KD for giving an All Time Performance.
Thank You DOM, WHY IS GIANNIS NOT GUARDING KD when kd is literally his size, what kind of scheme has giannis in the corner guarding joe harris; idc about foul trouble ur best defender has to take that task
He says it’s because of coach 🤦🏾♂️ F that you got 2 MVPs and won DPOY last year and all defense this year. Should have told budenholzer hold these nuts I’m guarding KD smh. I’m not even a bucks or nets fan but that got me tight
