Hope you all had an awesome New Years guys! Was time for some KANSAS! What’s the next track we should check out by them?! I think we’ve both heard Carry on my Wayward Son before but maybe we could do a ‘Review’ for that one? Either way let us know whatcha want!! 🔥🤟🏻

Andy & Alex I’ve never felt compelled to suggest a song for you guys but you absolutely need to check out “No One Together” by them. It is one of the most musically complex songs you will ever hear and it will have you absolutely LOST in the sauce. I first heard this song before I knew anything about Kansas and the transitions and chord progressions absolutely blew me away. It’s a Bohemian Rhapsody type song in that way. To add to the music, the lyrical content will have you thinking. Please, you have to check out No One Together. I’ll go back to not commenting now😂👍🏼

YES .... A rock in the cosmos they say ... 😂 ... Let them hit their 50s and they'll realize that all they are is truly dust in the wind ... To dust we came from and to dust we shall return .... It's not about what we've built .... It's about us .... It runs much deeper .... Kansas summed it up perfectly

Kerry Livgren was just doing finger exercises in his living room on his acoustic guitar and his wife said, "That's beautiful, you should make a song out of that." That is literally how this song was born.
@michaeldavid6284
@michaeldavid6284 4 года назад
+Jeff Cobb And it almost didn't make it on to "Point Of Know Return". They needed one more track to fill out the album but couldn't come up with a tune they thought would work. Finally Kerry reluctantly played this for the others; it was unlike any other Kansas song they'd recorded...and it became their biggest hit.
@sourisvoleur4854
@sourisvoleur4854 3 года назад
Another part of the story: When Livgren paid it for the rest of the group there was dead silence when he finished. One of them said, "That's our next single." It was their first single to break the top 10 in the US.

Kansas did for electric violin what Jethro Tull’s Ian Anderson did for flute ;) Edit to add: there’s a reason why us Boomers keep hyping groups like Boston, Journey, & Kansas. We know good music. It shaped us. And we miss those days. So, thx for bringing those days back, & for helping us remember how we felt listening for the first time 👍

Here's why I love you guys: There's another music reaction channel I'd check out from time to time, and while I found some of them interesting, they always seem more interested in analyzing the song critically than just simply drinking it in emotionally FIRST then getting into the other aspects. With you guys - while sometimes yes, I can see your brains working certain things out, for the most part you simply sit back and let the music work it's magic on you...you're FEELING it, not THINKING it, if that makes sense. This tune was huge and deservedly so. Steve Walsh, the lead singer has said he never tires of singing this tune. Also, the entire album is a masterpiece. I love listening to you both. I have 2 sons, both a few years older than you guys and they love classic rock also. I've seen their reactions to songs like this the first time I played them for them so watching you guys is like re-living those moments ago and I thank you guys for that! Oh and I love the way you guys talk about your parents!

Beautiful song. Unfortunately, I've heard it so many times that it has lost the impact on me that it once had. My favorite part, without a doubt, is when the violin comes in to play the "lead". Especially when it climbs the scale and then back down again. Truly a timeless classic.

Kansas !! Hell Yeah !! - This was probably the best first Kansas song you could have featured (my favorite song by Kansas). Lyrics are phenomenal - the guitar picking - the vocals, the harmonizing and the violin - just carry you away... Thanks for this !! Great Reaction !!!

Having heard most all of their work, I sense a hint of Christian principles running through a fair amount of it.
@andyball8379
@andyball8379 4 года назад
I've always thought that, too! I think Christian themes just sort of coincidentally crept into their songs, because they never confirm it; although, Kerry Livgren journeyed thru a rather public post-Kansas transformation of faith that delivered him to Christianity.
@Dman85612
@Dman85612 4 года назад
Kerry was a searcher and he was reading a book on Native American philosophy when he wrote this ..there is also Socratic as well as De Carte present in the lyrics ...he ultimately settled in to Christianity .

@@andyball8379 not post, during. happened on the Monolith tour in 79, and it's what drove both Steve Walsh and Robbie Steinhardt out of the band in the early 80's. Monolith is based on themes from the book of Urantia, while much of the earlier stuff is his spiritual searching through Buddhism and numerous others.

It blows my mind that someone hasn't heard this song. I've never owned a Kansas album but adore this song like almost everyone else. I've heard it well over a thousand times in my life just by conservative estimate. It truly is a timeless classic. Glad you were finally baptized into it. The message is a tad cliche but no less profound.

Gentlemen: I am an OLD guy from the 70's. Lifeli=ong musician, and I have played on numerous major television shows, and I have produced sessions with the major players from my era. I want to thank you for doing this, and for showing some appreciation for this music. Please remember that this stuff was done way before "virtual instruments," way before Melodyne and Autotune, and way before quantizing. There are some things I find myself screaming at the monitors that I think you need to know about many of these cuts that I believe would make you appreciate this music even more! I will post comments when I see these. Again, THANK YOU.

I was just thinking to myself a few minutes ago, while out on the back porch smoking a bowl, "Those dudes should do some Kansas." Deeper cuts, gentlemen. Deeper cuts. :) The hits are great, but their deeper cuts are awesome, as well. I saw these guys on their last tour with the primary lineup. Helluva laser show. When I was in the Navy, a form of Kansas played on my ship in the middle of the Indian Ocean. I have always loved this band.

Born & raised in Kansas. Before they were famous, they were the premiere band who played for our proms, formals & college dances! So I heard them & met them many times for free! When the record label attended a nightclub to hear them, they used their last dollar to buy beer 🍻 for all! All the drunks were cheering & dancing when the record reps showed up! 😂 The rest is history. One of the main singers now sings in the Jay Sekulow Band with the lead Singers from Christian rock band, Petra, & one other band member from the 80s. Great music 🎶!

Kansas, and specifically this album introduced me to prog. Kerry Livgren was playing this riff as an exercise and Steve Walsh heard it. The result is a simple and timeless classic. There is a DVD titled Miracles Out of Nowhere. It Chronicles the history of the band from obscurity to arena headliners.
