Dustin didn't gave Nadal a single chance to play on the baseline. Talking about breaking opponent's rhythm, flow, and strategy? This match should be the gold standard for that.
This is 8 months later, but that was a great comment ....... that is exactly what happened here .. from the interview post match, it sounds like it was the game plan from the beginning .....
It’s a shame Dustin Brown couldn’t sustain and build on his success ... I’m a huge Rafa fan but tennis needs characters like Dustin . He’s very entertaining to watch and has great style ...
When reflecting on this pearly match one can not seize refraining from the thought Dustin's unfortunate "exodus" has been a tremendous loss to Big Tennis.
..I’ve never seen an opening game as masterful as that. I also love how when Dustin misses a first serve he goes for the exact same spot on his second.
I’ve never seen such a magnificent player as Brown. He’s a pure diamond talent. This match could be used as a lesson book for tennis. Phenomenal! God bless 🙏🏼
It is good to see that even the Greats can be defeated with different strategies. This reminds me of Musashi vs Kojiro, in that Nadal was essentially stopped from playing his usual game and was forced to compete mostly on Brown's terms. Strategic tennis at its finest.
i’m new to watching tennis, but wow, even i am getting anxious watching brown play because ya have absolutely no idea what he’s gonna do next! love it.
He is not to be mentioned in the same breath as n. Kyrgios. Dustin is more mature and not the a-hole personality of Nick. I hope nick wins more as a single guy with more humility. It is incredible that Dustin does not win more majors with a game of this caliber.
@25:25 Why was it necessary to mention Nadal’s whatever having more money on his wrist than Dustin has made his whole career? 🤬🤬 I really hate all the tennis commentators.
Well I watched the entire match. Awesome, Dustin was in the zone the whole match. Rafa just couldn't figure out what to do with him. Well done, Mr. Baun/Brown.
Dustin played great, but I think during the beginning of the match he needed to realize that he’s gonna play people who can get to those drop shots and do something with them
16th. January 2023, By now, I have watched this video, at least ten times. All of the game, almost in one breath... Nadal and Dustin, Bless them both. 💙🙏
I’ve always loved watching Nadal play, exciting and entertaining… and so this match with Dustin Brown playing even more exciting and entertaining and then winning was a sight to behold. Much respect. P E A C E L O V E U N I T Y
OMG! I've just discovered Dustin Brown! This match was amazing. I love Rafa, but he looked he had no clue. It's a pity Brown had not managed to become "more famous" with his talent.. By no means, he did great, but he is/was so special. I wish him all the best!
Reflecting on this exciting match one cannot seize refraining from despair that Dustin's unfortunate "exodus" has been a tremendous loss to Big Tennis.
No me canso de ver este partidazo. Brown......un tenis fresco, alegre, elegante y rápido, alguien que disfruta de jugar tenis. Nadal.....músculo, ticks y mucho orgullo.
I need to see more of Brown in the years to come. I discovered him only last year and he is 35 already, and maybe has 4-5 years as pro. I wish he would return to senior circuit one day like Bahrami. Champions like Federer. Nadal, Djokovich would all retire in the next 8 years and entertainers like Brown as well.
Dustin played a brilliant match with a very good game plan which he stuck to. He needed to chop and shorten balls. On grass this was a match winner but on clay i still think Rafa would have come through.
Dustin's game was a testament to, "What a difference a day makes !" His techniques should be emulated. They were unconventional and unpredictable. A pity, he did not expand on them. If he had, he would have been more successful in the game. His entertainment would be a factor as well. A likely major champion! He is surely missed from the tennis courts/ world.
It's hard to watch one of the most loved players out there and one of the Greatest Of All Time in Tennis to be running around in circles at the court by a player who is so detached... Nadal got schooled in this match lol
7:18 some of the most outstanding commentary you'd ever hear from these two greats with John McEnroe and the other fine gentleman! For ME Ivanisevic vs Rafter was the greatest match in history.... but that's just Me.
