I don’t blame Dustin one bit for not wanting to fight down rank. Fighting someone not even in the top 10 does nothing for him and he will have everything to lose.
Sure that’s his choice but it’s up to the UFC to gradually bump him lower and lower down the rankings if he’s sitting out and turning down legitimate matchups. Then we’ll see what he chooses to do in response. Otherwise every guy refuses anything but fighting up the rankings, and that’s mathematically impossible. Only 50% of the roster can be fighting up at any one time.
In 20 years, I have seen a couple bargaining techniques work on Dana. What Francis did for example. Or maybe like GSP, wtaying gone but relevant and healthy. Two things that have NEVER worked in my memory : Challenging him in Public/social media about a fight not happening, like saying it's fake news...
