Last May, I went to the Schleissheim Flying Museum in Germany. The opening image shows a Dornier Do-24 seaplane behind me. Next to it was a film that showed the life of Dutch seaplanes in Asia in WW2. Here are some details.

The Do 24 was the most beautiful flying boat ever (IMHO). It was not fast enough and it was not well-armed, but it saw a lot of front line action. The majority were built in Aviolanda, Papendrecht in the Netherlands as the design requirements were drawn up by the Dutch Naval Flying Service for tasks in the then Dutch East Indies.
