Duvalay mattress review 2019 [CC]
Well here it is the long awaited problem to my mattress dip. At the October NEC show 2018 we visited a Yorkshire based company Duvalay.
After hearing so many good reviews of this company and the problem that we had with the foam mattress that was supplied with our Adria when we bought it, we had to go and see what this was all about.

We like to bring options to the table. I am sure that most people will be happy with the provided mattress that comes with their chosen van but it is always good to see what else is available and these come highly recommended. Don't forget that there are show deals on during the February NEC show and might be good to see what they can do. 👍👍

Good vid Guys. We bought two pillows after Dan T's review of them a while ago and also find them fantastic. We did buy a mattress topper as well but have since dispensed with it as having an island bed which has the day/night mode, found it a pain to make the bed in the morning. We find our Swift supplied mattress OK but are not large heavy people. Sorry Jules love you really !!! Nick

Great video guys our caravan came with a Duvalay mattress, I find it a bit firm but Karen likes it on the firm side(resisted the chance of being rude 😁) we have a better night sleep in the caravan but that’s not down to the mattress more to the fact that we leave the cats at home😼😁 Best wishes Jon & Karen

Hi you 2 nice video one thing I will say most high end caravans came with sprung mattress our 2008 swift conqueror 645, our 2011 conqueror645 also but unfortunately our 2017 coachman laser 650 is foam and awful!! We miss the sprung mattress..new buccaneer Commodore arriving beginning of March it felt better when we tried it at the show if not I will definitely be getting a duvalay!! Thanks again...

oh! I was expecting a tour round the factory, what a shame! Maybe you can factor this in. Maybe you get access to other 'van/Mhome related factories, would love to see you visit them

Our swift came with a Duvalay duvlite mattress as standard...after a few months, it left the indentation on my side. I spoke with Duvalay and submitted a warranty claim through swift. The factory supplied a new sprung mattress which we collected from the factory. Best mattress we’ve ever had!

I must say that it really is worlds apart from the foam that we were initially provided with. I am confident that this is going to be a game changer in our van. Hope the info helps. All the best Jules.

Certainly a superior product. It's also nice that you can choose the shape, design and firmness. We have a duvalay but I am sure Swift would go for the standard lowest cost option like most of the other third party components that make up a caravan or motorhome. The race to the bottom unfortunately doesn't improve the quality at the point of delivery, hence you having to shell out for a new mattress in the first year. Love the quality and production of your videos guys. Have been a fan of HWT from the start. Keep em coming. ☺️👍 Trev

Thanks Guys our caravan came with a Duvalay mattress and we have been really happy with it. At the time they did not make one for the front bench only the full size ones. So we made Alfie one, would be interested in looking at the children's ones. Thanks P&J

Can I ask how you get on with getting to the underbed storage when the mattress you got is one piece, I know you said it was available in two pieces. We have an Adora and our chairs, recliners and aquaroll live under the bed so do need to relatively easily be able to get them out.

We were still able to lift the sides of the bed as there was some give in the sprung mattress. We mainly used the storage locker door on the outside for our chairs and table. 😊 Karina

Thanks you two, I did wonder why you went for the one piece rather than the split one, now I know. We use our under bed space as most do, so question for Jules... is it easy to lift to get access, and does the bed frame stay up or do you need to hold/prop it up? We use a Tempur mattress at home as we both suffer with our backs, and I'm interested that you mentioned that the Duvalay mem foam mattresses are a little lighter than what comes as standard with the Isonzo, did you notice the difference when you were at the show? Sorry for the questions, but we can't get to the show.

Hi Bob, thanks for commenting, I have just gone over to it now and tried it as we dont really use the under bed storage much as we have a locker that I mainly use. I can quite easily lift it to pull the sides up and I would say that it nearly stays on its own but it does push the slats back down so to have both hands free you would have to prop this up with something but as the mattress is quite flexible this is not a problem at all. If there is anything else that I can help with please don't hesitate to ask as we are away in the van so can look at this for you. Hope that helps all the best Jules. Thanks for checking it out Jules, I appreciate that, we use our under bed when we travel, mainly kitchen stuff and some electrical, stops it sliding about while we're towing, then we stow things like awning bags, windbreak bags etc after we've setup. It is a shame we can't get there, too many family commitments early in the year, and we're away for the October show too, maybe next year ;). Enjoy you're time away, we'll try to get away sometime March/April time, if not, we're definitely off in May for a couple of months.

Great vlog You answered my questions before I even thought of it. What are the guarantees being offered by Duvalay? They would have seen Jules when visiting So the question is important ( im not disrespecting Jules) Do they also offer fitted bed linen at both ends of the quality market? Perhaps Manufacturers should offer Duvalay Mattress as an upgrade? Again thank you for a great vlog Gevin & Liz

Glad you enjoyed that one. We agree this would be fantastic as an optional upgrade when you first get your leisure vehicle and I think that this would be a great opportunity for the manufacturers as I’m sure Duvalay would be keen to explore this if they haven’t already. There is bed linen for the products and they are also bespoke and very competitively priced. Hope that helps. All the best J. 👍👍

An interesting vid that reports your findings. I know that you have been suffering with your old mattress for a while, and took some time to do your research as to the alternatives out there before making your choice. We have the Duvalay sleeping bags and have been impressed by their customer service and the quality of the product. I hope your new mattress gives you a good night's sleep for many years. Can we have an update in six months?

Hi guys, we have a sprite 4sb dealer special with that mattress, I’m 6ft5 and make Jules look like twiggy and like you say it’s a better sleep than at home. I also have back problems with 30 years plus competing so perfect excuse for more trips out in caravan.

I am all for memory foam comfort-wise, it's only problem is I sweat like a grand national race horse on one, even when I throw all the bed clothes (and other clothes) off. . When I have asked other people, it seems to be (and I am cross about this) only has this effect on large or fat people. Blooming cheek, a matress with sizeist issues.

I don’t see what your size has got to do with this mattress? “If your a big chap” you mention this more that once in your video. Surely these are made for comfort purposes not based on the size of the person sleeping on it. The mattress provided in most caravans is simply not adequate and we have had Bailey and Lunar fixed beds and they are both awful to sleep on.

Thanks for commenting, my issue, being heavy is that I sunk in the foam where as Karina had no issues. Caravan mattresses are on the whole very poor. The Duvalay sprung mattress has been excellent.

If you want an excellent caravan or motorhome mattress I wouldn’t buy anything else. You can take or leave the impartiality but that’s my opinion on the product. Thanks for watching, Karina

We find with memory Jules sinks into it and the foam doesn’t recover. I know that’s a feature of memory foam but not good if you don’t like that. Duvalay is the best in my experience but you might find all the caravan foam mattresses don’t suit you. I know some people use toppers to improve their nights sleep.
