Would love to hear more Bartok. Concerto for orchestra is mindblowing and his 2nd violin concerto is epic as well

Yes, yes, please! Gidi, didn't even react to him before (so the "more" doesn't make sense)

Have you looked up the Story before listening to this piece? After Dvorak had finished his 9th Symphony he focused his attention on writing 4 symphonic poems, on storys by Karel Erben. Die Waldtaube is a story about a woman who has murdered her husband. The music starts with a funeral procession, depicting the funeral of the husband. You can hear the fake crying of the widow at 4:05. She has poisoned him and is not really mourning him. She then meets another young man and marries him. These are the next 2 sections in the music. In the fourth section she is haunted by the cooing of a wood dove 13:58 or 14:30 at her first husbands grave. In her remorse she drowns herself in a lake.

Dvořák is an amazing composer, and there is still so much more to discover for me. I've never even heard of his "Waldtaube". I only know his "The Water Goblin", which is amazing too.

I'd love to see a reaction to La Orestiada, another symphonic poem by an unfairly unknown Manuel Manrique de Lara. Think our fellow classical lovers would love to listen that piece too for the first time!!

So this piece is what's called a 'tone poem', also called a symphonic poem. A tone poem essential tells a story through music. Normally it's used more abstractly, however in the Dvorak's case, it's quite literal.

It really depends. Liszt, who coined the term, composed more abstractly, Strauss could be very literal, like in "Till Eulenspiegel's Lustige Streiche" or "Don Quijote" or more abstract like in "Also sprach Zarathustra" or both at the same time like in his "Alpensinfonie" which is on the surface a very clear musical description of a hike through the mountains, but below the surface another abstract tone poem based on Nietzsche's "Der Antichrist". Dvorak wrote 4 very literal tone poems and a 5th one that has no clear story.

You are correct, in all aspects I guess

Could you do a reaction on Verdi's Requiem? Its a single most epic piece to ever exist and imo way better than Mozart's.
