one of my favorite things to see that he does is that hes not just using the slave pedal to play the aux bass, but its ALSO playing his main kick at the same time.... pretty sweet idea!
You can't get more cowbell than this. I thought he was a new orleans style jazz and funk drummer, but just look at all that exotic percussion he's got going on there!
Thanks for liking the mounts. These are DWSM2141's(claw hook clamp). We do not sell our gear out of the Namm booth but if you local dealer does not have these in stock they can special order them for you!
The Claw Hook clamp works great for bells and percussion accessories but we are sure mounting a ride cymbal would be stressful on your hoops and claw hook.
The claw hook bell mount is an amazing piece of gear, that I use with a puppy biscuit and a bell at the same time, mounting a splash. And as Stanton says, that does not budge. I play gigs in different bars where most have their own kits and I generally do not have the time to do a full recon of the gear they have at the place, these pieces of hardware give me quick creative options that I can throw on in fairly quick time.. Which is even more important considering I am a south paw and sound guys get pissed that you have to rearrange the drums and mics and all that crap.
I also noticed the sliding rod is pretty short and too close to mount a ride on the batter side hoop, and it looks like it may be too far to mount on the front hoop..Any suggestions to get around this ?..
I have a question..I really dig the bass drum hoop clamp mounted cymbal on his right bass drum and i was wondering something..Can a mounted ride cymbal do the same job as having the L- Arm cymbal mount drilled in the bass drum ?..I have a vintage Ludwig (sorry DW ;))) and want to mount my ride cymbal without having to drill a hole into the bass drum shell. cont..
Hey there! Thanks for the video. I'm having a problem finding the hardware Stanton mentions at 3:30. What I'm after is just a straight arm with the textured mounting surface found on your L-Arms. Wanting to use it in conjunction with one of your Mega Clamp MG-3's to mount two Engelhart pieces on my bass drum with your Hook Claw Clamp. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.
We have our doobie bars, but they are not textured. You could also get a cymbal are and remove the cymbal holder. www.dwdrums.com/factoryaccessories/cymbalholders.asp
Few years ago here in Asheville Stanton's band came thru. I enjoyed the show, fantastic. But afterwards, he was meeting "fans" and proceeded to literally grope a young woman. He was off to the side of things and maybe thought he was out of site. I was waiting to meet him. He was pulling her in close and his hands were all aggressive on her ass and it was just totally cringe & creepy! She pulled away. It was obvious what he was trying to do. Dude was even wearing his wedding ring. I don't listen to his stuff anymore. I only bring it up because, he was VERY obviously out of line. But hey, Life On The Road !
