I was surprised they'd let Dwight go. It's just a minimum contract. It's not like they can't afford to have him on the team and Dwight still brings a pretty decent amount of value.
@@HectorConCarne23 lol what? You’re saying they don’t need l a good backup defensive big man in the paint who can get rebounds and provide good defense and isn’t brittle like AD??
To add, I wouldve grabbed John Wall before Westbrook, even if he had to sit a year out. Now look at John Wall👀😂 We missed that guy in Chicago too. SMDH
Honestly bro they should just try to trade AD to the Bulls for Caruso, Derozen, and a shooter, bring back Dwight and Mcgee, and try to trade Westbrook and the 2nd rnd picks for Turner/Hield.
as a Lakers fan since the 80s... yeah, true facts. hurts but it's facts. didn't bring back Caruso either, because of luxury tax? give me a fking break!
They overreacted to losing against the Suns despite being injured. They were historical bad on offense when LeBron was out which is why they added Russ and all those other scorers like Monk and Melo. It made sense at first but obviously it's one of the worst fall offs from a champions team ever
Smh 🤦♂️ don’t know why they broke up that bubble squad..they had vets, size, championship experience lol they tried to fix something that wasn’t broke
@@t99155 D. Howard was still a monster basketball player during the bubble. I’m sure he would be an amazing addition to a team like Dallas, and even Minnesota or Detroit.
This Lakers team is clearly missing Dwight Howard’s rim protection, also let’s not forget Javale McGee. 2 years ago the Lakers had a good defense and they were grabbing rebounds now they can’t even rebound the ball, Rondo was also a good point guard presence because of his experience.
They had JaVale and Howard that helped AD anchor the defense. They asked Javale to opt into his control so they could trade him to the CAVS all that to go get Marc Gasol. Now AD is playing defense but can't really produce the way they need him too. Same thing with Bron. You're asking a 38 year old to play defense and still score a bunch of points just to almost win.
Man when the clippers role players basically fell on their lap they had the most depth. And they traded so much for Westbrook when no one would want to trade him for that much lakers front office are a different breed of stupid and nepotism
@@7770robi lmao I see it I see him NOT trying to make up for that this fool still jacking shots and now even added second half disappearing acts great …Dwight and McGee were big blessings to AD minutes wise it helped AD out with those nagging injuries
I just realized, in 2020 Dwight along with AD and Lebron, that was the only team I knew in the NBA who had all 1st round picks overall who played together and won a chip. Any other team ups that had 3 players play together who were all 1st round 1st overall picks?
Dwight was a great fit for the lakers. Anytime he got into the game it only elevated the game for the lakers. Him not being on the team is just ridiculous. He’s one of my favorite big guys and I can’t believe he’s not playing this season.
Love you Shannon. You speak that real truth. I feel like Dwight is definitely needed on the Lakers roster. And if we can get some shooters, that'll definitely help us out. Even though AD outplayed KD the other night, we still need some shooters. I know Jeanie Buss don't want to give up first round picks of 2027 to 2028 or 9 or whatever, you don't want to waste LeBron's last year's being mediocre.
When I see Dwight not on the Lakers roster, I say someone’s not doing their job. Dwight and McGee was a big part of the Bubble Chip, wtf did they got rid of them, is beyond me especially Dwight. They need a new GM! They should have kept that whole team. Best/ talented group of guys Lakers have had since Since winning years.
Alongside all there 15 3 and d players. That was literally lebrons best team that fitted him perfectly and they decided nope let’s mess it up he’ll even the year after that when they lost in the first round that team was still good just injuries happened
Lakers keep doin that Smh. They won a Chip so the next move is to improve next season and some pieces but Lakers dont do that Smh.. I remember when Kobe and em won the chip with Lamar and they try to trade him the next season thats why the man got all depressed going to Mavs 🤦🏻♂️
What do you mean? He told you why he thinks he’s not on the team. He said they wasn’t giving anyone over 30 a multi year contract and the Lakers didn’t bring him back because he left them before.
The reason is because he not trying to air out dirty laundry if he dont need to. I understood completely what he was saying. You just let it go over your head. Your Loss.
Ngl, it's gotta be something he either said or did. He can still be an asset in some factor. It's gotta be something on his jacket or how he moves around the locker room
U can hear the disappointment in his voice towards the end of the video. Dude was so happy to be back in LA, but they never brought him back for consecutive years. I know he didn’t really look that good last year, but idk why they didn’t resign him after the championship year. If this is the end of his career, I’ll be looking forward to him giving his HOF speech in 2026
Howard really only had one good half against Jokic in that series. But the Nuggets margin of error is either Jokic plays perfectly for 36-40 minutes a game or we lose. KCP on the other hand, destroyed us in that series. So thank you Lakers for letting him go so he could eventually find his way to Denver.
I think them not getting that parade played a role in management oversights. The faces that won the chip weren’t properly celebrated and the Lakers undervalued that chemistry
Caruso was the Jrue Holiday to AD. AD, like Giannis needs a ball stopper lock down perimeter point of attack guard to be a more effective shot blocker. They should have kept him!
are you people serious, getting rid of Dwight Howard was definitely a plus for the Lakers. They need younger and more productive players... his defense was not a force in any way... stats that are worth mentioning, pts. 6.2, rebounds 5, blocked shots .08... These are not the numbers you need from a 7-foot center. Good move in not resigning him!
He knows why he’s not playing posting up in the paint because he’s been rumored posting up guys behind closed doors but he was a key piece tho or McGee one of those 2
