I have always been a huge fan of Dwight, never thought he got a fair shake!! so talented, yet so understated, A talented singer, song writer, and actor!
Dwight Yoakam is the best. Been a fan of his for a long time! Eugene is a tremendous guitarist in his own right! He's been with Dwight for a long time and Dwight doesn't feel threatened by Eugene's style, he has a style of his own . They make a great musical team!!
The very first country singer I fell in love with and bought CD's from back in the early 90's. And after all these years he's still the best and my favorite. I love those high tones he has after a lot of words, don't know how you could call those, but it is so his style, love it!
So wonderful to see my #1 music man is STILL GOING (like the Energizer Battery/Bunny) and still letting his Light shine!! And of course his band is just awesome--what talent! It was such a blessing to be able to enjoy this performance--we are truly blessed to have DDY in our world. He still has those legs a-movin' like I remember back in his younger years. He never leaves us where he finds us.
Thank for posting this. I especially liked how you got some close up footage on the lead guitarist, he's so fun to watch. Love Dwight, been a fan since he first came on the scene.
What a performance of musical craftsmanship blending a variety of styles, for a spectacular out come! A big shout out to the musicians and net-workers That made this all possible, including a heavy shout out to Dwight Yoakam, for his DEEP, DEEP, Deep, Generosity to have brought this show to RU-vid, not very many will allow this. Thank you Dwight. Drinks for the band, where ever you should have a chance to meet and greet him. Best Wishes to all in the band and heap of thanks again. Cam
I saw him May 11th in Conroe Texas, video there too! Enjoyed this video, ty for sharing, big fan here! Wondering how does he remember all the words to the songs, omg, he is still doing great shows!
I love Eugene Edward's loyalty, talent and exuberance. He enhances rather than competes with Dwight's performances. Pete Anderson was inarguably an excellent musician but he did not seem to put any excitement into his efforts--he was always excellent & precise but he wasn't a showman and never seemed to attempt to complement or coordinate with his fellow band members in supporting Dwight's performances. / accomplish- ments. Also communicating with his fellow performers -- he was just "there"--a lone wolf. Sorry-I'm no professional -- this is just my personal opinion as a fan. (Also, I will always admire Edwards' loyalty to Dwight during the time he needed support-not criticism or the airing of private "dirty laundry". (Edwards could have launched his own career years ago had he chosen to)❤
Damn he´s good! I saw him live in Stockholm, Sweden, in 2016 and it was brilliant! Can´t believe it´s almost 40 years since the release of Guitars and Cadillacs etc. Dwight still sounds the same.
Absolutely ❤ Dwight right from his earliest days, can never go past watching me some tight jeans with him in ‘m. And guitarist is great to watch also, he’s really feeling it too Thanks for this video
Great recording brother. October of 1993 I got introduced to this legend. Pete Anderson a great lead guitar and producer but Eugene Edwards really filled that void.
@@shapro88 Aug19 - just three days earlier :) Steve was the youngest member of the Grand Ole Opry, toured with Don Williams for many years, and still tours with Johnny Mathis. He's a bonafide prodigy, and a great human being. I have a short clip of us playing our original music on my youtube page.
I had tickets Dwight but I couldn't make it great concert I listen to it on RU-vid this is Earl mcnish been a fan of yours since the very beginning of your career thank you
@@als1023 It makes me think of that interview “Working for Dwight” or something like that. It’s the guy that played the upright bass on the almost alone, and then some tour… part of it i guess, and then blame the vain tour. He talks about the difference from Johnny Cash were they gradually fall in, and Dwight it is on point RIGHT NOW. 😂 I guess Pete Anderson has talked about the style too… I can’t remember who developed that for the band in the beginning…. Come to the mic, and crank out 4 to 5 songs, and THEN say a thing or two. Funny though Dwight talks more in concert than he used to, and he will joke about it too. lol
@@shapro88, I suppose someone could guess he is a perfectionist on a high level. I was told he has a photographic memory, and if he leaves the room somebody will move something minor out of place, and when he comes back they will laugh because the piece has to be placed back. lol (I don’t KNOW that to be true, when I was a driver for Aldean that is what one of the roadies said…. If nothing else I guess it’s a good story.) 😎
First time I saw him live was at the Melody Tent in Hyannis MA opening for Ricky Skaggs in 1987? 88?. I turned to my husband and said, "this boy is going to be a star". About 30 years later we went to his show in Portland Maine and i gave him a heart shaped stone. Pretty cool. He's a national treasure.
As a guitar player, I really admire Dwight’s lead guitar player’s skills and flashy style, he’s so fun to listen to and watch (as is Dwight, of course!) Thank you for sharing this video so kindly. 🙏😊 Liked & Subscribed! 👍👍👍
Who’s the new keys/fiddle/steel player? I know/ recognize all the others guys, just not him. Btw Dwight is one of my musical influences, I have a southern gospel music group and I put a lot of Dwight in my singing style.
Jimmy Webb wrote "Wichita Lineman" in response to an urgent request from Glen Campbell for a "place" or "geographical" song to succeed "By the Time I Get to Phoenix." His lyrical inspiration emerged while driving through the expansive plains of the Oklahoma Panhandle, where he observed a long row of telephone poles, one of which held a lineman engaged in a phone conversation. Webb imagined himself atop that pole, phone in hand, as he envisioned the lineman conversing with his girlfriend. Despite its actual origins elsewhere, Webb situated his song in Wichita, Kansas. I'm sorry for correcting you on the public square but you're better off hearing the truth.
23:38 Lyrics She said, baby things change I said, but I feel the same She said, well let me explain Baby, how things can change I said, but that doesn't show How a love that could grow Would become so strange She said, well baby, things change She said, Na, na, na, na, na Now, now, now baby, don't try To figure this out Or ask questions 'bout why Forever's a promise No love can survive And trust with hearts Just don't apply She said, 'Cause baby, things change Na, na, na, na, na, now, now So baby I quit tryin' To figure things out About all your hearts lyin' Forever's a promise We couldn't survive Hey, I may be slow But I ain't blind She said, I still love you so I said, I don't care to know She said, you once cried my name I said, well baby, things change And let's don't go placing no blame 'Cause you know things can change Na, na, na, na, na, na Na, na, na, na, na, na She said, you once cried my name I said, well, baby, things change Na, na, na, na, na, na Na, na, na, na, na, na Let's don't go placing no blame, yeah 'Cause you know things can change Na, na, na, na, na, na Na, na, na, na, na, na
I completely respect your opinion my friend as I believe our nation is best when we respect each other’s opinions. With this said, may I offer my opinion that Eugene respects Dwight so much and merely performs with his own personal style and flair as most of the greatest lead guitar players do never meaning to upstage anybody. Just my feeling as I’ve listened to Eugene Edwards speak with so much admiration and respect for Dwight and the band including the former amazing guitar player whom he replaced. 😊
@JS45678 Man, usually Dwight has his guitar SO LOUD! It wasn't bad here, but at other times we've seen him, his guitar was a little much. Like the time before this one, in Topeka, KS.
@@shapro88Guitars can’t ever be too loud for me (a guitar player!) 😂 Love the recording, the mix, and the great guy who took his time to film and post this for us; Thank You My Friend! 🙏😊
Eugene: You're NOT Pete Anderson nor will you ever be. Stop over doing it. Between you and Eddie Perez of The Mavericks you both need to cool the stage antics and head bobs.
Die guitarist is een heel goede guitarist, hij speelt na al die jaren nog met veel plezier. Die man is niet geïnterseerd, is niet bezig met jouw denken. Aandachttrekker. Alleen,... waar ben jij goed in?
May I respectfully offer my opinion that I feel blessed to now live in an era where RU-vid exists and we can enjoy concerts we’d otherwise never see regardless quality. Being in my 50s, I grew up before internet and this, to me, is a dream seeing Dwight live as I will likely never see him in concert. Just my opinion my friend as I tend to appreciate the things I have in life versus the things I’d want in life as age has change my perspective in many ways.😊
Normally it's the Bass guy that tries to steal the show. This time it's some dude with a Tele. Ha Ha ha. People do and will remember D.Y.....and the other guy as a wanna be. all the best to all.
