Hello everyone. If there is one questions or suggestion that I get asked more than anything else, it's "can you make a "how to" video that covers everything from start to finish?". Well, that is exactly what I have done.
This series is going to show you exactly what to do to setup your DX6i, set all your swash, pitch, throttle curves, gyro settings, end point's, and everything else in the radio. Then, I'm going to show you exactly how to bind the Tx to the Rx. Then, setup all fo the servos on the cyclic, adjust all the links to get the proper swash height so you get the same pitch up as you do down, set the blade tracking, setup the gyro outside while hovering and getting the swash correct for FF or forward flight.
So, sit back and enjoy this series. I will also try to get the WHOLE series on my website so that you can download it, adn watch it anywhere you have a computer. No internet required after the download.

In this video, I cover setting up the gyro and the tail servo. Doesn't sound like much, but it does take time. This is also one of the shortest videos in the series. All of the final settings for the gyro and tail will be done outside when we put it up in the air.
In the next video, I will cover how to setup your blade pitch.

Awesome Tony, i am from South Africa and just bought my first 450 v2 heli, RTF out of the box. i am pretty sure i can use all your videos to set up my heli before test flying. Its no wonder why I wrecked my Blade 400 the other day, I was going off of another tutorial which I thought was getting me to where I needed to be as far as getting my TX, servos, and gyro set up correctly to where she was going by be flying smoothly, NOT ! This tutorial has got to be one of the BEST ! , IF NOT THE BEST ! BAR NONE ! I am just amazed at how simple, yet very, very comprehensive this tutorial is, I feel so much more comfortable, and at ease knowing that when the replacement parts,( EFLH 1447 Main shafts ), new servos ( ameribox MG90S' ),and Spartan Quark GYRO arrives I can install them, BIND AND FLY WITH CONFIDENCE ! I just reverse engineer everything. Tony's stuffed up by installing the rudder servo on the wrong side of the helicopter.

Great videos, thank you for your very helpful videos. One suggestion I have is maybe have everything on the heli out on the mechanical parts like your tail servo 90° show it out of adjustment and how to mechanically adjust it right or maybe I'm just watching the wrong video. Just a thought

RcHelpDotCom: Sir, first of all, thanks for your willing to help us (the newbies ) in this hobby, I wonder What is the Heading Hold mode for? and What is the rate mode for?, of course talking about the gyro and which swithc is used on the DX6i to change between the 2 modes? Thanks for the video. I got a question. How come, when I turn gyro sens to 70% (for instance), and move the rudder stick, for example, to the left and then back to the center, the tail blades stay in left position (do not return to the center). Same goes for right direction. But when I decrease gyro sens to 30%, the blades return to the center with the rudder stick. Is it normal?

That is normal. In Heading Hold (HH) mode, you are telling the gyro to turn the helicopter to a specific heading in space. In HH mode, it will keep pitch on the tail blades until it reaches this heading and then straighten them out. www.Rc-Help.com

Hello. Regarding Lipo setup, I found out that 2 sells are kinda damaged, so I removed them both and stuck one sell, which is working fine to 3S and now I have 4s 3300, working great. My question is, I want to have 6s pack, so if I buy 2s and connect 4s + 2s in Y harness I should get 6s. What happens if I get 2s with different parameters, for instance it would be 2200 instead of 3300 (like my 4s), how is it goin to work? (considering that both 4s and 2s will have similar discharge rate) Is it theoretically 3300 + 2200 with 22 volts? Could you explain and recomend?

IMO, I would just order a 6s pack instead of piecing one together. If you don't get the circuit correct it can end up in a catastrophic failure. No one wants a LiPo to go nuclear.

@@RcHelpDotCom I originaly bought two 3s 3300 packs. Now I am happy with 4s 3300 and when I tested it, believe me, it wants to go up) (I had to hold it with my leg). So for now I am fine. I plan to get 6s 3300 maybe, as the extra pack. When I stuck 2 sells from another 3s pack (I threw one sell in the garbage) which was damaged, I ended up with 5s and I couldnt put it to storage, because one of the sells was going to 2.9 volts, while the other 4 sells were showing 4.1 - 4.2. So I had to remove that 2.9 sell and I ended up with 4s, which work normal.

@@RcHelpDotCom Well, I got the circuit correctly, so i will fly with 4s for now. Regarding winter flying, how would you suggest to protect electronics from occasional snow particles or I should not worry about it? Should I wrap gyro and other stuff in perhaps, plastic covering?

Thank you for your response about the tail gyro. Maybe it is out of your topic, but I got a question about Lipo battery. I was launching my heli yesterday and it got discharged pretty quick. I have a combination of 3S and 2S 3300 batteries, connected by V cable to the heli. What happened was I had 2S completely discharged while 3S was 1100 aMh discharged (I saw it because I charge them separately). I was thinking all sells discharge the same. What do you think is wrong? I had to resurrect 2S with NiMh mode to get it back to a voltage, where I can charge them with LiPo mode. Any sugestions?

If you plugged them in parallel, you are lucky you were able to get them to take a charge. It could have done some severe damage to the 2s pack. If you had them wired in series, then yes, it will draw from them at the same time, but you would also have a 5s pack which is an odd cell count. Can you be more specific on how this was setup and what exactly happened? If you could post some pictures on the forum, that would help most. www.Rc-Help.com

Thank you for the response. I just decided to take both 2S and 3S apart and connect them as one 5S, considering that both have similar brand and specs. So I dont have to charge them separately and hopefully, this way they will discharge normally, plus I will get rid of that V cable I made to connect them to ESC.

Okay, so they were in series rather than parallel. That should be just fine and it should pull from both batteries at the same time. MAH doesn't have much of an effect here but it does some. As long as the packs are not getting hot and puffing, it should be fine. www.Rc-Help.com

I noticed, when I discharged for storage, that one of the sells showed 2.9 volts, while others were 4 - 3.8. So I stopped and decided to leave the pack as is, with mah whatever is there.

Yea, 2.9 is low enough to damage cells. Make sure when you are charging that you are balance charging. That way all cells are the same. Even after discharging (with a discharger or just running them), run them down to about 3.5 or 3.6 and then do a storage charge on them to even them out. You can do the storage charge with them higher per cell, but it takes a little longer. www.Rc-Help.com

hi tony, i am using a hk401b gyro on my new hk450 gt heli ,im just learning ccpm setup ,i got the head right ,but the gyro is giving me the tail-wag from hell! im using a hs-82mg as my tail servo ,i lost as whats wrong to give me this tail-wag ,and i already did the glue fix for this gyro ,im stuck, please ay advice on this tony??

Very cheap, like $10USD, or it was. But! DO NOT get this gyro. This is a piezoelectric gyro and they are horrible compared to what you can get now days. The oldest technology you want to get now is a MEMS gyro, which is not affected by temperature and does not use a vibrating crystal. www.Rc-Help.com

@@RcHelpDotCom tell me one thing is it important, that I used the gyro in my rc helicopter can I make a without gyro helicopter,, I will set the thrust at the balancing mode when the joystick will be on the center?

@@Ritik_raj_arts You can, but it is incredibly hard to fly. You will need to set some idle up modes so that you keep a constant RPM, and I would highly suggest using a governor for the main motor. But in all honestly, as cheap as HH tail gyros are, I would put a gyro on it. www.Rc-Help.com

You've mounted the rudder servo the wrong way. No engineer would build it to look like that. Its mounted on the opposite side of the helicopter at a 90 degree angle. That way it doesn't impart a rotation effect to the frame. I've reverse engineered an electric RC helicopter without a manual. You look at every piece and ask yourself would the designer / engineer have installed it this way?
