If I had just seen the retail video, I would've loved it, it still looks great but when we put it next to e3 version it looks bad.
@@alchemist932 those are amazing, this is definitely not. God of War and Uncharted look extremely good and realistic, it's like watching an interactive CGI movie.

@@gabriel897100 I really hope it is, its an aspect I've constantly thought about. If its not its still gonna be a fantastic game that I know I'm gonna enjoy!
I strongly believe that the game was entirely rewritten. Waltz was not even mentioned in the demo, the whole thing was about survival and a fight between two factions to get water, now it feels like its all about aiden finding waltz in order to find his sister, the radio guy who talked with the driver steve sounded normal, in the final product he sounded like a Psycho from the borderlands games, the colonel sounded calm and charismatic, now he sounds more like a typical thug, its not because the voice actors are bad or anything but its probably because they had something entirely different in mind for the renegades, i may not know if the game was in development hell but firing chris avellone who was one of the main narrative designers really shows its impact on the game.
The game was in development hell for sure, there was a report they have some crazy CEO who might be responsible for all the massive changes after E3 presentations.
It's absolutely ridiculous. I was hoping for the same thing and we got what? Fighting some super natural Waltz guy? Finding our "sister" in a ultra super secret government Noah's Ark type of facility called X13? They threw out that super big choice of deciding what to do with the water dam at the Butcher's, they reduced the Butchers importance to a brief interaction and then off you go being a super hero stopping literal missiles like you're some kind of a Superman. What a letdown truly
I know your comment is over 2 years old but yes the game was entirely rewritten. In E3 2018-2019 Aiden was coming to the city to look for a cure because he was infected. Also they fired Chris Avellone due to false SA charges ( Thanks Karissa Barrows & Kelly Bristol for your lies!!! ) Chris was responsible for around 5 major storylines and over 100 sidequests which all got scrapped once he got fired.......... So yeah Techland basically fired Chris for nothing as he was proven innocent in court, but i understand why they had to fire him.
not going to lie... the Voices from 2019 were so much nicer and felt realer if that makes any sense, these new ones dont really fit or suit whereas the others did. And its honestly like two comepletely different Vibes with everything caparisoned... shits weird!
Imo some of the new actors and voice lines kinda suck when compared, the colonel sounds like he was kicked in the nuts. The lighting is worse and overall the 2019 demo set expectations that were not met with this mission. A part of me is glad they reduced the amount of scripted events, but the mission feels like it went from something memorable to a generic mission. Also another thing that I noticed was the fact that Aiden's purpose to meet with the colonel has changed. Seems like they changed the whole story majorly after chris left. Which is probably why certain parts of the story feel... weak to most critics.
@@janirobe chris avellon, the guy who is responsible for all the games having the best written stories in rpg games. he got cancelled during the metoo movement. all allegations were bullshit and no one backed him up and got blacklisted from the industry. the guy is probably the only talented writer in the video game industry
@Samson aka Rozukee in 2019 demo the whole mission was about the water pumps, but now it’s about funding waltz, and I haven’t seen anything about the water.
They're still wearing their fanboy goggles, give it a week and everyone can see the game for themselves; only the diehards will then claim everything is still good.
@@GalaxyStandard77 It's not someone stepping in and ruining something, this is an incredibly common practice. They put the trailers on extremely high-end PCs that can take the dynamic lighting and higher-end graphics, then realize that 90% of people won't be able tor run it like that, so they tune it down. It's extremely shitty but it happens.
@@BullofCrete yeah ur right but there is an actual case of someone leaving and someone stepping in their place, esp that of a critical position, the game's writer. I think that makes a lot of difference on where the missions lead and content might get cut out.
I want they game they showed...with world building they said you could control with decisions. They said player choice would shape your world and there were hundreds of choices and each player would have a different experience. Why is everyone letting Techland off so easy when it is obvious they cut so much content from the released game? F**** Techland. The talking chicken is just perfect analogy to show what type of game we got...
I see people commenting on lighting and rtx .. well I run this on pc with the rtx on and the issue for me is the overall feel of the game.. it feels different to play they what you seeing in e3.. the atmosphere seems so different from the voice acting to the way the game technically interacts with you.. it isn't just raytracing that makes this game feel different
Though I do enjoy the game, there are definitely things that they looked better in the E3 (at least in my opinion): -The visuals, more specifically the Art style. The graphics are fine, but the greyish tone fits better with the game's theme. The bright, colorful atmosphere from the final version is is a hit-or-miss, mostly because it's incongruent with the "modern dark ages" theme. -The factions overall. Peacekeepers and Renegades are the same thing, but in different colors, and the Peacekeepers doesn't have a medieval aesthetic anymore. Now it's just the New California Republic without firearms. Plus, "The Colonel" was more intimidating in the demo. [Spoilers]: The colonel only appears for like 3 minutes. Even my dad who went to buy cigarettes has more screntime than him. -The story, or at least that's what i want to believe, since Chris Avellone was the lead writer. I know they fired him due to supposed sexual harassment, and they had to use scripts from other writers. -Choice-related gameplay. Your choices only matter in a few things, and the world doesn't change that much aside of some faction-related buildings. Of course it has redeeming qualities, but the game we got is a complete letdown.Since they're going to support the game for 5 years, I hope that they do something.
@@firuzmajid4780 All of this is because two women decided to falsely accuse Chris Avellone ( who was responsible for 5 major storylines and over 100+ sidequests ) The reason is cuz Avellone rejected a woman called Karissa Barrows, so she and a friend decided to accuse Avellone to get revenge... Well in the end, Avellone was proven innocent and the two women now owe him a 7 figure sum so atleast there is justice.... sort of. Just too bad that we took the blow aswell
retail looks pretty great tbh. Yeah there is tweaked or missing stuff, but the retail game is not a fake demo. There are also some jacked up things in the demo, like the water effects look terrible. I also can tell the guy playing the retail is deliberately trying to make it look worse by simply sucking a$$ at the game, like falling into the water, and spamming the slide over and over.

2019’s City feels a little less apocalyptic since the fisheye is kinda in an actual building while the 2022 version the fisheye is clearly built by hand but the lighting and original voice were better tbh
Although the new one looks more like a game, the old version just had a better feel. Also we don’t know if the sunken city was removed bc you didn’t choose that choice. I’ve also just found out that you can use the grappling hook to open the vent, I think it might just be because your grappling hook wasn’t upgraded enough
Plays like mediocre tripe all the way through. Just finished it with about 40 hours on the save file. I couldn't care less about most of the 100 characters you're forced to endure, the combat and animations are a downgrade from the first game, nighttime is a joke.. I can go on and on. The graphics, despite looking cartoonish can look pretty nice, and using the new grappling hook and paraglider is fun. But the other 80% of the game is totally forgettable. The original Dying Light is the better game by far.

One thing I've noticed is how bad the UI and lighting is. What happened to the dark nights of Dying Light??? That was a core feature. It's why I bought the game. Now look at it. Night is as bright as day, and the awful UI is intrusive as all hell.

I just realized that now a days no devs deserves pre orders. They keep promising deliver the good stuff but they were all lies. Never preorder any game.
I think it’s possible that they are intentionally trying to make this retail version look worse. Denying the existence of the sunken city, choosing to make the parkour not look smooth, and potentially not playing on best settings.
