Dying My Hair Purple + Splat Review 

I have dyed my hair with splat for the past two years. One thing I will say is sleeping with something to protect your pillow is smart, but after about three days it won't really run so there's no need to protect your pillow or be afraid to sweat!!

I LOVE IT! You are rockin it! I've been using splat for about a year and I really like it. Not a fan of the manic panic or anything else honestly. It seems to last longer and give me the color I want. My hair is naturally black so it took me several bleach attempts, but blow drying your hair while the bleach is on helps. Always rinse with cold water. I usually leave the color on for at least 4 or 5 hours or sometimes overnight. I hate that I cant go to bed with wet hair, but I love my purple hurrrrr. Dry shampoo is your new best friend. I use a lot of leave in conditioners and oils on my hair too.

I use the purple toner shampoo after the final bleaching process. When I used blue envy to do a blue to white ombre, I went from dark drown to whitish blonde. It took A long process. Three bleaching treatments, I used deep conditioner and let it soak after the second bleaching, and after the third, I toned it wth the shampoo SEVERAL TIMES. I did this over a two day process in order to not kill my hair. It just takes patience to obtain that platinum blonde, brassy-free hair. You can get the toner at a beauty supply for like $4 I believe. Try that. It worked for me :3

For the bleach you have to use foil. I actually put some bleach on half my head, work it threw, then I comb it to try and get every strand. when I comb it some bleach comes off and I save that bleach to put back on my hair. after I comb I put more bleach on that side and then separate into pieces and put the foil on. then I do the back and then the other side. works much better. then leave it in for an hour. I always hop in the shower to wash my hair. the color I only leave in for 30 minutes. only leave it in for an hour if you have really thick hair. I switch between red and purple a lot and it works for me. 😁 oh yeah. like I said I hop in the shower to wash my hair out. I always use shampoo and conditioner. I let most of the color run out. it NEVER will run clear. EVER. ivr taken a shower for an hour and it still comes out. but I use shampoo about four times and then conditioner. I also have a red towel and purple towel for when I dye my hair and I dry it with the towel as much as possible. it still bleeds when I wash it but not on my clothes. idc about my pillow. no one should be in my room to see it so idc. I've been told to put the left over dye in your conditioner and it'll make it last longer and brighter but I chang colors to often to do that.

I dyed my hair an eggplant color from a more common brand (for lack of better word) hair dye brand and it turned out great! I think it was revlon or something like that, so if splat doesn't work, which I have heard it may not, that is always a good option. There's more color choices that way anyway, like reds, blues, purples, even the more natural colors like browns, blondes, etc. Splat is more of the funky colors and it usually does not last as long.

Watching ur video has given me some confidence in dying my hair purple the same as yours. Not gonna lie was very hesitant about doing it but I feel more confident in doing so. This video really did help me

the great thing about going purple is that if your hair turns yellow after bleaching , the purple cancels out the yellow tones and makes it go white-blonde. I used purple dye mixed with conditioner to tone my hair because a lot of other toners didn't work for me. then I just went full out purple. try manic panic. I use one from another brand that I can't think of off the top of my head but the color is deep purple and I dilute it with conditioner to get a lavender color.

You could also get purple pillowcases, or cover your pillowcase with a tee shirt. Or make easy tee shirt pillowcases. This is really, really, REALLY making me want to dye my hair a bright color again. Red, or emerald green... those two are calling me right now.

I LOVE IT!! And I totally think you would have so much fun experimenting. My favourite brand for bold colour is n'rage- it doesn't bleed at all! That's my only tip really- you've already got the Vaseline a and nail polish remover hacks down which took me years to figure out.

I have dyed my hair with splat twice now, and it has yet to bleed on my clothes from sweat or rain. If you wash your hair completely, it won't run. I usually don't have it washed completely till the second day, so if you take 2 showers, it will stop bleeding on clothes/furniture

I've dyed my hair a lot and my advice would be to not get it wet bc the color will fade quickly, and during the first week or so, the color will drain when wet. Also, if you want to keep the color for longer, take a shower every other day, as the water and shampoo remove the color more and more each time.

Your hair looks great. I've used Splat a few times, and in my experience, it stains horribly and the color doesn't last very long. But you hair looks awesome! (Also, I have that exact owl shower curtain and let out a strange squeaking noise upon seeing that you had it too, so yeah that happened.)

I've dyed my hair different colors for many years but this is the first time I will use Splat. In my country some hair stylists use cigarrete ashes with a damp cottonball to remove the stains on skin and it works perfectly! You might wanna try it next time (it smells HORRIBLE, but it's worth it)

We use splat A LOT, a baby wipe will get a great bit of the color off with scrubbing lol.

Your hair looks really awesome though! If you wash it with conditioner and in cold water, it shouldn't bleed. Cold water helps to lock in the hair colour. But again, I've only used manic panic, so I can't really say if it works the same for Splat.

I have used cigarette ashes to remove color from my skin for years now, I called one of the color companies and this was something they said would/should work.

Use Aphogee 2 step moisturizing kit from Sally' s beauty supply afterwards. It cost $ 4 but it heals your hair so there is no breakage.

I just used this color for the first time also and I haven't had any problems with it running when I sweat.

It does smell like grapes. I have it on now!

I used the splat dark red color and it's three weeks later and my scalp is STILL stained

That's why he's manic panic because it doesn't tend to bleed other than when you first put it on him once it's set in your hair for about a week it generally at least for my hair did I say then without any issues for me

When I use splat, I've always left it on for at least six hours. I switched it to overnight though (not being judgey or telling you what to do, just saying what I do).

Baking soda toothpaste worked for me, Nail polish a nd everything else didnt help a bit!

you didnt put it in right nor did you wash it all our correctly. i have the blue and pink in now and i didnt stain and i got full coverage.

Lotta info gonna be coming your way I hope I don't bother you with it. Your hair is not light enough for a toner. Not most anyway. Once your hair is light enough a toner/purple shampoo should work just fine also. Most personal favorite is Matrix brand but that's kinda pricey (my hair dresser gets it for me and I just pay her the cost it cost her to get it so for me it's not so bad but to buy it out right it's not that cheap) there's Shimmer Lights (that worked really well for me till my hair got used to it :() Generic Shampoo, both can be bought at Sally's Beauty. Panten also has a brand but it's hard to find in stores at my area. The darker the purple the better the shampoo.

Urgh. People always get good results with Splat, where as I have freaking black hair, which makes it hard to find a colour that will show up. And I can't really bleach it because I have Asian hair that gets damaged easily. Dangit

Your first mistake was boxed bleach The second was buying splat cuz that stuff is crap and hard as hell to get out of your hair. Try Sally’s color or try finding a salon willing to color your hair. It’s weird that a professional stylist would recommend splat

splat is a really bad dye. it's keeps running until the colour is almost gone. unless you use a hair mask almost every night...
