I never liked Kelly again and never felt the same about the show. Dylan and Brenda's relationship was one of the main reasons I feel in love with BH90210 in the first place
You know I think this is where we see Brenda as the bigger person for this....She doesn't slap her, she moves on...I think if it had been the opposite Kelly would have slapped Brenda.
Kelly Taylor was practically throwing herself at Dylan since S1, and she always got ignored. He did not even notice Kelly whenever Brenda was in the same room, suddenly they're soulmates. Stupid writers for letting their personal feelings for Shannen to destroy the character of Brenda Walsh. Dylan and Brenda were clearly each other's greatest love. Team Brenda all the way!
Dean814 Actually it was Luke's stupid ass who wanted Dylan to get with Kelly just because he had the hots for Jennie. I lost respect for him when I found out, you should never let your personal life affect your work. So unprofessional!!
I must say I really admire Brenda's last statement to them which was, "Never talk to me again!" That was exactly the right response. Tell them to leave you alone and you move forward without them. Nobody needs that in their life.
@@jessicacampbell3994 Exactly. The show lost me after that. Now with social media, today’s generation has a voice. That’s why the second season of HBO’s Euphoria got so much attention. Today’s audience said “no way” to dating a friend’s ex. In Brenda’s case, Dylan wasn’t even an ex!
I remember feeling her pain. It was their senior year, and she was supposed have the best year with her friends, and then this happens.. It really puts a wrench in things. Makes you want to stay away from everyone.
kittycatangel99 some ppl say Brandon isn't tough but he never got beaten up. He just tries to avoid causing trouble but I think he can whoop Dylan's ass...he looks more muscular than Dylan tbh
kittycatangel99 agreed...she was always gna do that to Brenda...always...she was just waitn to slither in...that fuckn snake. glad Dylan always left her hanging...and she only had that "sammi" to always have a hook in Dylan to make him stay in her life...ugh can't stand kelly...
Kelly and Dylan were really in love - it was hard for them to control their feelings for each other. I do think kelly should have waited until they broke up - that way she wouldn't have the insecurities she had when they got together.
@@cathyl.......David Brenda and Donna were my favorite Brandon was my least favorite honestly idk he had this good guy vibe but he was worse act like he couldn’t keep it in his pants😂
Seeing this clip, with Luke being gone and Shannen with stage 4 cancer now, it makes me super sad and thinking where does the time go. Watching these episodes every week was one of the highlights of my youth. Such a long time ago...
Yeah, that always kind of bothered me too. The whole gang as a whole, including the Walsh parents, kind of white-washed the whole incident. I mean, Brandon got more heated on behalf of his sister in s1 when Dylan stood her up for their first date, but yet this is a much bigger betrayal and he acts so laid back about it. It made no sense at all.
To be fair, Dylan had saved Brandon's life in the meantime, when Brandon was dangling from that rock on their camping trip. That shit goes a long way - you wouldn't give up that type of friend, even if he ends a high school romance with your twin. That said, he should still have yelled at him :-). And I hate how half-bored, half-hostile Dylan seems in the scene where they tell Brenda, like it's some tedious chore.
uclmu2008 yeah I guess since he saves his life you cant hold a grudge forever lol. Also it pissed me off that both Kelly and Dylan decided to have this talk with Brenda. It should have just been Dylan and he acted like ths was no big deam at all jerk
***** I agree. Dylan should have confessed to Brenda and apologized properly, and Kelly should have talked to her separately. But this way it seemed like they teamed up against her.
uclmu2008 I do understand the point you are making about the life saving incident. I am sure that is not something to be forgotten. However, I think it matters HOW the high school relationship ended and with who. It was not some random break-up, followed by a hook-up with a random somebody, that could eventually be shrugged off in time. We are talking about two core members of the group who had very close relationships for a length of time with Brandon's twin. That, I feel, makes a huge difference when we talk of maintaining a friendship and where your loyalties should lie. Brandon may be eternally grateful for Dylan's heroic act but that one act is not a free pass for Dylan to walk all over Brandon or his twin. Nor is Brandon obligated to stand by Dylan if he has done something wrong. So, for me, I still find it odd that Brandon never would have at least confronted Dylan on Brenda's behalf after such a betrayal, even if he eventually forgave him or they became cool later on.
@@janderson9477 but right here they give it up to her to her face what's been going on over summer..lol...the reality is, that it did not matter 1% how and when Brenda was told what was what and how it was, she was not gonna like coming last in a two-horse race..being the one with no chair when the music suddenly shut down..she was gonna get Glen Close about it no matter what..
It's ridiculous how Dylan claimed in this episode that he'd "always wanted Kelly", yet in the Season 1 episode Higher Education, Kelly flirts with Dylan in school, but all he does is look at Brenda. The show fazed Shannen Doherty out around Season 3, because of her personal problems. It's disgraceful, really.
@@halffamillyon9562 Yes, I remember the whole "playground soulmates" retcon in season 3. The summer where DK betrayed Brenda and the writers made Brenda go after Rick in Paris so that she wouldn't be portrayed as a total victim. Very disappointed that Luke basically begged for it. The whole DK thing was shallow, it was lust, and it annoys me that Luke was okay with his character hurting his true love by fooling around with her best friend. Definitely character assassination for him. I didn't like Dylan again until he fell in love with Toni in season 6.
@@lianavanschalkwyk2006 'Senior Poll' episode in season 3. Dylan to Kelly: "we're two kids who had to walk home from school ourselves because our parents forgot to pick us up. We're soulmates. If you hadn't called me that day, I would have died in that car, not Jack"
@@halffamillyon9562 Yes, i read this too. Luke wanted more drama. He got more drama too, but at what price? Kelly and Dylan's characters had a bad reputation for the entire duration of the series.
Brenda (Shannen Doherty) left the show bc she didn't get along with anyone & was problematic. Never showed up to work on time & thought she was better than everyone.
“Brenda please try to understand how much you mean to us alright.” That’s got to be one of the oldest tricks in the book. When a person knows that they’re about to be in deep shit with another person they have a tendency to try the old “sweet talk” tactic.
I still remember this episode like it was yesterday. I was 14 and so mad at Kelly and Dylan. Didn't stop me from having a crush on him, though, lol. I was always Team Brenda. The show just wasn't the same without Shannen.
@@fifthchild8265All shut - up about Brenda Walsh got what sh deserved!!!!!!/, she told Dylan Mc Cay about Rick in or after she got back from Paris / etc ...
Tyrone Morgan yes she sure was. Still can't stand that character till this day! First she goes after her bestfriend man and then she boinks that same dudes bestfriend. She is just trife! Ugh!
I could never get over this lol It literally ruined the character of Kelly for me. I'm still not even sure what the writers were thinking. The fact that Brenda even remained friends with her after this stunt was insane.
I'm surprised that the series still generates such reactions after so many years. Probably because there never was the ending that all the fans wished for.
@@glittery_cucumber When you think that Dylan and Kelly only existed to get more ratings and entertainment, the development is very sad. I'll never see what DK fans see in this pair. And worst of all, Dylan and Kelly were never meant to end up as a couple. They were just a forced solution because Jason didn't come back. The original writers always wanted a BK-Ending.
@@korihagerud4624 There R no words to express my devastation, he was the James Dean of my generation, I adored him, even when he got older, he was still sexy and a great actor.
What I never liked about this scene was Kelly and Dylan acting like they were doing her some big favor by telling her about the summer. And then when Brenda asked if they slept together, they got all OFFENDED because they expected to be rewarded for being so "honest" and "mature" about everything. Dylan going, "Because we owe it to you"! What he owed Brenda was respect - this happened after Brenda spent the summer at war with her parents over him, and then at the first test of loyalty, he goes and fools around with her best friend. Wasn't right.
Perfect summary. I guess that's all cheaters think. Like coming cleaning is some sort of favour to their victims. But all this is is a fake honesty to ease their guilty conscious and pressure forgiveness with "honesty"
Seriously. Two people who just admitted that they've been lying to her for months have the audacity to get angry when she doesn't believe them when they say they didn't sleep together. 😡🙄
@@marjol3inSame. This happened to me when I was in my 20s. My roommate and "friend" did something similar. She ended up cheating on him with many men after the two moved in together. It was so bad that my exes father wanted me to break him up with my ex friend.
materialgirl8707 I hated Kelly during high school years, but when they were in college and she was dating Brandon. She soften, and wasn't the shallow snow queen.
This storyline was so cruel :( it's like sociopathic how heartless and cold Dylan and Kelly were to Brenda. Just can't understand how they could still be friends with her after
It was totally cruel. The writers were punishing Shannen through the character of Brenda. They had her boyfriend, ex-best friend, and other friends totally turn their backs on her, and she was supposed to take it and move on. Yeah right. Fans would have pushed back today through Social Media. Horrible.
Probably the reason why Shannen only kept close contact with Brian Austin Green and Luke Perry years later before Luke died. Even Luke said he never wanted the writers to change Brenda and Dylan's characters. Notice the 10 year real life reunion how he sits between Shannen and Jennie and his close connection with Shannen off screen.
What irks me about the whole Brenda Dylan Kelly triangle is up until then the writers made Dylan ignore kelly. They had no chemistry. Dylan practically pretends he didn't know kelly that well and then all of a sudden kelly is his love and he's always wanted her. Not true. That's what irks me the most. I think Brenda and him were soul mates. I just think Shannon pissed a lot of people off when she was on the show so they fd with her character becuz of it
I watched this the other day. I thought it was ridiculous when Dylan said he always wanted Kelly. I don't remember Kelly and Dylan barely interacting until Brenda went to Paris
I watched this show for the first time in the early 2010's on SoapNet. I remember getting to this moment and being completely mesmerized and feeling like I was watching this big moment. Only to find out later it's considered one of the greatest moments of the entire series. Incredible how some 20 years after this episode aired that it still managed to carry the same emotional weight and make an impact on little ol me watching in secret in my bedroom.
I loved 90210, but I absolutely hated this episode. This marked the beginning of the end for 90210. Kelly and Dylan just didn't have the chemistry that ❤Brend&Dylan❤ had.
Omg. The odacity of Kelly going behind Brenda's back and having an affair and then taking Dylan from her is absolutely despicable. Kelly was an enemy more than a friend
This was some garbage! And neither of them ever apologized to Brenda! And Dylan was just a straight up coward about the whole thing. He could barely look Brenda in the eye. Just kept looking down. In this moment here, Dylan acted like Brenda never meant anything to him. Shame. I was never a fan of the Dylan and Kelly pairing!
Imo Donna said it best when Valerie first met Dylan at this party, where he was throwing a huge tantrum. Valerie was like "That is Brendas Dylan?" and Donna points out: "No, Kellys Dylan". Exactly - Brenda made him a better Person, Kelly made him miserable. Team Brenda all the way!
I'm so emotional rn. The absolute audacity of Dylan and Kelly to stand there with this martyr complex. They literally rammed a knife through Brenda's heart and then acted like they themselves were victims too. Ugh. Brenda Walsh is my Roman Empire.
Listen. This was a soap opera. I know the show like the back of my hand. Yes. Brenda had a fling in France which is normal for a teenager. Kelly was her best friend and started dating him a minute after Brenda ended it. It's wrong. Kelly was to good for brandon. She deserves to be second rate to Brenda and ending up with dylan.
neither slept with anyone.Brenda was good for Dylan,Brenda's dad treated him like dirt,he saved Brandon's life,he saved Brandon & Steve from a con job with the drag racers.he told Brandon not to drink, gamble amd stay away from Emily[?] Valentine.."she's trouble you don't want."..the show fell off for me in sea 4 when Brenda leaves...did u watch Melrose place?...billy & Alison...lol
Dylan could only choose Kelly in Brenda's absence. Kelly was just too insecure and codependent to realize she could do better for herself. Dylan was no real prize imo, Brenda was above him.
Dylan was no prize at all, so Brenda should have been angry with herself for choosing him. Also, Brenda cheated with her best friend's boyfriend in Minnesota.
Your spamming is annoying. You have the nerve to criticize people being invested after decades yet you replied to almost every comment on the video. You're the one who is overly invested and blessed. BRAT.
That's what bothered me the most too. The fact that noone else seemed bothered by Kelly and Dylan hooking up, and leaving Brenda to suffer. In fact Iris is like the only one who actually shows concern or disapproval. Why didn't Brandon react? The writers really did handle it badly.
Brandon is the one of "the gang" whose reaction is the worst. David--who'd barely been Kelly's stepbrother--had more of a concept of brotherly loyalty than Brenda's twin did.
That's what bothered me too but now that I think about it Kelly and Dylan were never ever called out. Even if Matt mentions one time how like always Dylan doesn't pay for his mistakes, even if I wasn't a huge fan of Matt but he did have a point. Kelly cheated on both Brandon and Dylan but was never called out on it, but when Brandon cheated on Kelly, he got a lot of shit on it. Looking back, I love Brandon but he wasn't really much of a good brother.
the fact that this is like the original version of the Lucas, Peyton and Brooke fiasco makes it even harder to watch because of the pain that Brenda and Brooke endure from being betrayed by the two people they love the most.
@NessaBear90 Julian was no prince. And Brooke was even still whining about her high school boyfriend cheating on her years later the night before her wedding TO HER FUTURE MOTHER IN LAW! 😆
Personally my favorite love triangle ever was Justin Julia and Griffin from Party of Five. Everything seemed so realistic and nothing forced. And Julia wasn't acting like Lucas or Dylan unable to make up her mind. She actually had a deep connection to both of them and it wasn't just about making out. And the fact that they hated each other made it even better. She wasn't coming between best friends. You could sympathize with her and both guys. Made for a much better story than just random cheating and falling in and out of love at the drop of a hat.
I can't believe he had the audacity to get angry with her when she didn't believe that they hadn't slept together over the summer. Yeah, Brenda. Shame on you for not believing two people who just admitted that they've been lying to you for months. 😡🙄
I still watch this show EVERY DAY,EVERY DAY, AND WHEN I SEE THEM ,I SEE THEM LIKE THEY WERE BACK THEN,THIS SHOW WAS SUCH A ROLE IN MY CHILDHOOD, HOW I DRESSED,ACTED,HAIR,EVERYTHING, NEVER WILL I FORGET!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@tammyboykin5285 Eating disorder, set on fire, became a coke head, psycho friend tried to kill her, shot, cheated on AND raped. Kelly NEVER got a moment's peace after this actually.
Some people are saying that Dylan never cheated on Kelly..Well let's see..Kelly had a boyfriend like Dylan who 1) almost hooked up with his ex Brenda before graduation 2) throwed himself into Brenda while fishing asking her for a second chance while he was with Kelly 3) tried to kiss Brenda while she was thanking him for his gift and his support.. 4) He slept with Brenda the moment he broke up with Kelly..5)He jeopardized all the time his relationship with Kelly by supporting brenda all the time..6)and he threatened Stuart by telling him how important Brenda was for him and that if he ever hurt her he would have yo deal with him..From my point on view you can not cheat someone only by having sex..and Dylan never cheated on Brenda by having sex..only kisses with Kelly..but he did it with Kelly too..His strong feelings for Brenda based on the upon examples showed that Dylan was never over Brenda..and that is a cheeting too..
This show is the epitome of letting an actress’s personal life dictate which way they take their character’s. There’s no way Dylan would’ve chosen Kelly. It was all because Shannen Doherty was having issues on the set 😭😭 This scene was so brutal to a 10 year old me lol. I still don’t even think I’m over it
That went pretty well.....Brenda was pretty calm about it.....if that had happened to the actress Shannen Doherty....it would have been a beat down going down in the park on that sunny afternoon. What horrible acting from Dylan and Kelly...but that show was so awesome in the 90's
I realize this triangle made for an interesting storyline, but personally I never believed Dylan would’ve wanted Kelly for anything more than a fling. He and Brenda were so much more compatible.
Dylan and Kelly had a horrible relationship, she was always moody and fought with Dylan and it was only sex that kept their relationship alive therefore it was only lust not love. Brenda and Dylan had true love cause they truly love each other and are friends and make each other laugh which means they make each other happy and their love was sweet and so beautiful.
That's how season 4 ended, Brendan sleeping with Dylan. I think they would have stayed together since Kelly went for Brandon (another topic for another video)
Kelly actually did try getting with Dylan before Brenda moved to Beverly Hills. In season 1 episode 13 "Slumber Party" Kelly admits that when Brenda first started going out with Dylan that she tried getting a date with him and that Dylan was flirting with her the year before Brenda came into the picture.
There isn’t a tv scene that pissed me off more than this one in my entire life. It still hurt to watch. I was 12 years old when I first watched it and I remember crying in my mom’s arm, I was so upset!! Lol what kind of best friend is Kelly? I wish Brenda would have punched her Still hate Kelly to this day 😂
OMG I know! It still pisses me off the way the writers made the characters feel NO guilt for the way they treated Brenda. I think they had to do it though for the show. They had to keep a balance so the Brenda could be a part of the gang. In reality Brenda would have NEVER spoke to Kelly or Dylan again!
It also an episode which was terrible for the character of Brenda like in season 4, Steve tells brenda that he is his brother's friend but that he is not his friend and and steve and his girlfriend laura starts a rumor about brenda to tarnish her reputation and kelly and brandon will believe this rumor, it was a very sad episode for brenda because her brother believed this rumor
"You didn't care at all how I felt" "That's not true!... We just continued to do it knowing how it would make you feel." People be having the audacity since the Cenozoic ages! 😂
When this episode first aired (I didn’t start watching it until my senior year of HS, 2000) my friends were PISSED at Kelly and thought she was a major hypocrite for how she treated Valerie. After seeing this episode and the episodes that lead to this one, it made perfect sense. Kelly was a horrible friend. She turned 2 best friends against each other (Dylan & Brandon) and she lost a best friend for running around with her ex boyfriend. Kelly was also a Narcissist. Afterwards, she whined a lot and wanted pity after taking those pills passing out. I could go on, but……
