Brian. Great video [as always]. I’ve always enjoyed flying wood birds and this one is a classic. Beef up those servos and you’ll have more authority in turns. And I agree - put those ailerons on this baby and you will feel more in control.

When you checked your CG, was the balance point in the center of the wing spar? Could you give us a little more detail on the modification on the horizontal stabilizer (elevator)?

I'm sorry, been a long time since I did this work, so I can't remember everything. If you can ask what you're after, I'll try to help you out, but I can't honestly remember all the details. As for the CG, I think it was marked, per a manual I found online, if my memory serves me.

Well, I finally started rc flying. I made a 79” Gentle Lady glider, screwed a motor on the nose, and off I went. Managed a couple of 10-minute flights last week, then bust the wing! The repair will be finished in time for good weather on Saturday. I have just collected the plans for an enlarged BoT: 144” span. I’m gonna put ailerons on it, and maybe air brakes, too. This video will be so helpful. Atb.

Holy crap! 144" ?!?!? That's CRAZY. I've had a lot of RC purists complaining about my spoilerons, but for me, it worked GREAT! I want the added control from the ailerons, but if I were building this plane again, I'd either build the wing FLAT, or with only a very small polyhedral. The polyhedral was a function of THREE channel setup. You won't need that ;) I bet you could get that HUGE bird to fly great with a flat, or near flat wing!

I don't know that there was "less play"....but I DID have to cut to create an access hatch at the control lever near the sliding part of the elevator. It wasn't easy, but worst part was knowing exactly how it went together, since I didn't build it....my late grandpa did.

This one is available at Tower Hobbies, as an ARF or a Kit...my grandpa built this one years ago, and I've been working it back to life (it had never glided or flown under power). This would be a GREAT early plane, but since it can fly itself, without any complex stabilizer. If you're still learning, just get loads of room for landing, as landing in a smaller field, especially a tree lined field, makes for a turning decent that's a bit more challenging... ...remind me, C Dub, have you actually flown much of your fleet, or are you still just collecting??? Sorry that I can't remember.

I TOTALLY get it, but keep in mind that there is a LOT of roll effect from the combination of polyhedral wing and HUGE rudder The roll rate is slower and slightly delayed, compared to if you add spoilerons like I did HERE - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-A_O_Um49U00.html ...might want to see the whole playlist! I've been flying the props. the edf ones not yet. i got my a380 finally. but it doesn't have retracts. i sent you a message on hangouts about it. i am doing well with the cessna 182 and the grand cruiser. those are my 2 favorite props right now. the a330, c-17, a380, and the private jet are not unboxed yet

actually found a site to try to get the windrider 737 but they were out of stock. so I'm on a waiting list. and no problem my man. i think I'll grab another of the a380 for crash insurance

I have a Radian 2 meter and I'm adding ailerons. Need more control. Elevator and rudder only are find but went its windy I need more control. But your plane is real nice looking.

Bob Smith Thanks, I might be adding ailerons too. I just don't like the feeling of being out of control. About the first time I send a full right rudder, and the plane goes left, I have to decide to add ailerons...
