Sable, Dominique, and Alexis...the holy trinity of shade. If they put all three of them together in one season, the shade level would've blocked the sun and we'd still be in the ice age left by them almost 35 years later.
@@kachi9293 ... Yes, Alexis, Sable and Caress should have had some scenes together during Season 6 (or even phantom Season 10 that never happened -- Joan said she was quitting, but also said she'd do some episodes for them were the show to be renewed for a tenth year). Everybody liked when Krystle got snarky, but they never did that enough.
@@EphemeralProductions It was the subtleness of Beacham's acting... you could tell when she was on top and when Alexis was... and I assume when Dex was on top, behind, or whatever they were into.
Same here! I love Sable and wish the producers would've brought her in early, like Season 8 which was so boring. Stephanie is reason why I can sit down and watch a marathon of Season 9. Ms. Beacham knows how to deliver "good camp"
I Agree season 9 made up for a lackluster season 7, 8. This season was truly dynasty comeback IT'S A TRAGEDY THAT DYNASTY DIDN'T GET A SEASON 10. You can tell they way the season was written that RICHARD AND ESTHER SHAPIRO AND AARON SPELLING NATURALLY ASSUMED THAT ABC NETWORK WOULD RENEW FOR ANOTHER SEASON BUT DIDN'T. This series had the potential to make it to its 11th season. But at least they created the mini series after the show got cancelled
@@ericwatkins9554 loved the light hearted joking atmosphere here in season 9. When The Reunion came to haunt us two years later it was dark dreary and serious with no Sable or even a mention of her.
@@ericwatkins9554yes, yes, yes! Ur absolutely right! After the LaMirage fire and the departure of several key characters, Season 7& 8 were 🤮. It was only when writer David Paulsen decided to move the character of Sable from Los Angeles to Denver. Her presence in season 9 was EPIC! Had the writers introduced Sable midway through Season 8, we the fans could've gotten a Season 10 out of it. Stephanie Beacham was AWESOME in this role!
Stephanie Beacham’s addition to the Dynasty cast was absolutely brilliant. Her presence gave the show the spark it really, really needed at that time. Also, I always thought Stephanie was far, far more beautiful than Joan Collins. Joan was/is a very good looking woman, but Stephanie was/is mesmerizing! Her face and her figure are incredible!! Good Lord, just look at her🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yes, she was awesome and the reason why Season 9 is so much fun to watch. After the fire at La Mirage and the departure of Catherine Oxenberg, Diahann Carroll and Pamela Bellwood, the show wasn't fun to watch anymore. However, when Sable fly in on her broom to make the resident witch, Alexis life a living hell....I was all for it. Yes, thank you David Paulsen for bringing in Stephanie Beacham. This show needed a new diva to get under Alexis' skin.
That's a totally Shakespearean line! The writers of Dynasty crafted that script as if it were an Elizabethan drama. The way Alexis calls Stephanie "cousin", is a totally Shakespearean conceit. Cousins are often seen in Elizabethan plays trying to outwit and outdo each other. Cousins have a rivalry which is often played out to epic proportions. More than kin and less than kind! Dynasty has all the quality of Shakespeare: the dynastic plots and twists and sub plots, the scheming wives, the ungrateful, spoiled children, the mansions and the licentiousness. Soap opera is wonderful because it uses all the qualities of high art but for mainstream audiences, which is kind of what Shakespeare himself did. All his dramas and tragedies were played out for the common people. There is nothing new in this world.
eric simpson The use/technique of her vocal delivery is how everyone is supposed to use their voice. Makes the vocal chords last longer and not so much in the throat.
I know reading from comments that Stephanie Beacham was popular with viewers and she certainly has the attributes on paper, but compared to Joan she's hard to listen to and not half the accomplished actress.
What beauties they are! Fine actors too; there is a lot of energy in all the performances and the play of expressions is perfect for melodrama. The accents are something else. Talk about voices of command!
Barbara Stanwyck was the master of this back in 1944's best noir film, "Double Indemnity". Never blinked once, which gave her a very serpentish aura....
It's so rude to compare these two fabulos ladies, they had their own unique sparkle, and the Freckles The Clown bit got Sable good, you can tell by her reaction LOL. I love how when one knew the other had the better insult they just accepted it, tried their best not to lose their cool as grown ups should and moved on to the next very classy, potentially lethal sentence LOL, they're both a shady delight to watch.
She should have came on with Jeff and Fallon the previous year. I believe if she had the show may have gone even further then this season. As far as any other Colbys characters i cant really think of any other besides MAYBE Zach Powers. Montolban was still a great commodity in Hollywood and he and Sable could have joined forces in things. Although SAble couldnt have befriended Blake as she did since he couldnt stand Zach.
There will never be another soap opera with the music behind it the beautiful clothes in Gorgeous Hair and the perfect beautiful people there just is not a soap opera out there with Gorgeous people anymore where you really want to watch it they need to get these writers back to the 2019 era
Freckles the clown (...) you're still alive. omg lol Alexis' tongue is as sharp as her mind. Very few people had that talent to be able to quickly pull something witty and insulting out of their mind.
Have you noticed how great the clarity of their diction is? Not a syllable lost to poor sound engineering, mumbling actors or overly loud music as per half of Hollywood’s output these days.
This entire scene is hilarious. It has aged incredibly well hasn’t it? So many, many details and appliqué of technique, dictions, timing, flow glaring through eyeliner and HAIR. It’s pure drag and yet not. The line about “freckles the clown” always makes me laugh. 🤡
Yes, this is a superb entertainment, very carefully crafted, and lesser actors would be lost among what must be some of the most outrageous fashions and hair since the court of Maria Antoinette. Instead, it all carries complete conviction. Every dial is set at "eleven" and yet somehow they still manage not to play it for camp. Brilliant.
I just discovered an amazing coincidence: the mansion in this scene is the same set that was used for the movie Clue, and the actress in blue, Stephanie Beacham, played Mrs. Peacock in the Cluedo Gameshow.
Here's another fun fact. Stephanie Beacham acted on a UK Prison Drama Bad Girls while Joan acted on it's Sister Show "Footballers Wives" that focused on The Glamorous Lives of The Women Married to Men who play on The UK's most powerful Soccer Team. Some say that The "Footballers Wives" Show would be the inspiration for the "Real Life Housewives" Franchise. Also while Joan briefly played Alexandra Spaulding #3 on Guiding Light, America's Longest Running Soap Opera Stephanie acted on the UK's longest running Soap Opera Coronation Street.
Sable: You don't know when to stop do you?Alexis: Oh Yes I do, when I hear the THUMP THUMP THUMP, That tells me I have driven over somthing hard and empty - Like your head! hahaha....
Yeah the last season of dynasty was of great.... It sable owned it. Even better then the great Alex's!!! She was sceaming but hugely likable. And fans took her side. Cause she actually loved and helped Blake and d cristal...unlike Alexs
It would worked too because she is as loyal and have a big heart like Krystle BUT at the same time the ruthlessness of Alexis if her trigger was set off, which in Sable's case was always about her family and friends she cared for, mess with them and she will go after you with relentless tenacity as Alexis so deservedly found out.
I liked how many COLBYS references they put into the scripts. Los Angeles as well as many characters were mentioned giving me hope had there been a season 10 we may have seen one or two. Jason, Frankie, Miles and Zach Powers i figured would have at some point shown up in cameos. Id read Heston was offered a permenant Dynasty role but said no? Had anyone else heard that anywhere? He and Forsythe were old friends so im surprised Mr. Forsythe wasnt able to talk him into it. Bet show would have been great with Jason Vs. Blake and Alexis Vs. Sable in same show!
I too read that Heston was offered a standing role on the original show (Season 8). To paraphrase film director Dick Donner, 'I don't share lead on a show' would likely have been his rationale for not joining John James. Also think that had Beacham (Sabella) joined Dynasty in '8' (1987-88) it might have lasted to 12, 11, or assuredly 10 seasons.
I love how Sable thought she was going to end this shadefest with the upper hand and was turning to walk away and Alexis was, "not yet bitch," "I won't warn you."
Also, here's another fun fact. Maxwell Caulfield (Ex Miles) and Michael Praed (Ex Prince Michael) also acted on a UK Soap Opera Emmerdale. Michael's character is Frank Clayton who briefly dated Charity Dingle who dumped him for his own Daughter Vanessa. His "Other" Daughter Tracy is played by Amy Walsh whose Sister Kimberley was a Member of "Girls Aloud" the most successful group to come out of Reality TV in The UK. Girls Aloud Music was played many times over the years.
Lots of references to The Colbys were made once Steph came on. In this scene it was los Angeles when adam poked a jab at sable. And most The Colbys story lines were tied up through these references like we knew Franky was still alive and Monica never got to see her son Scott after her last scene with him in 1987.
Sable could never make Alexis angry. Alexis always smiled and laughed whenever she argued with Sable. If you notice in most of their scenes, Sable always ends up getting angry and bothered by Alexis' comments and threats.
FerrariCarr Actually there were several things Sable did and said that made Alexis very, VERY angry. Sometimes Alexis ended her statements to Sable with a smirk, but she DID become angry. Also, a lot of the time she griped, ranted and raved about Sable when her cousin was not in hearing distance. For example, that lawsuit Sable had against Alexis really scared her.
ChristianNYC I agree ^_^ Alexis slept with Sable's husband and harmed her children (by telling Jason how the twins might not be his and he disowned them), Sable buys the Carlton, kicks Alexis out and buys her tankers for 1/10 their worth. Alexis blows up the tankers (that woman is off her rocker for that. They don't know for SURE all the people left. The best caretakers of a ship may do late night double or triple check maintenance of it, without telling anyone. I doubt Alexis studied their habits) and Sable sleeps with Dex which hurts Alexis deeply and then Sable hits her with a lawsuit powerful enough to sink Colby co for good. (or save it and have HER own it instead). I also find Stephanie Beacham more beautiful and sexy than Joan Collins. While I admit Alexis had some very pretty clothes on Dynasty, there were times...with her wigs, makeup and clothes....she looked like an old hooker. Like the episode where Sable and her daughter arrive at Alexis' office with the lawsuit. Alexis looked really....cheap. What was wardrobe thinking? However, sable SHINED, and that little flashing of the eyes she did at the end was FANTASTIC ^_^
Oh that's right I forgot she blew up her tankers OMG yes the way Sable flashed her eyes at Alexis before walking out was priceless. Like a cat, Sable always lands on her feet firmly planted. She is a badass
ChristianNYC A total Badass ^_^ It's a shame the show didn't continue after season 9 and that fall that Dex and Alexis took. I was hoping Sable would somehow find a way to take Colby Co from Alexis. If it had happened and Jason heard, he probably would have had a heart attack then and there on top of his two-bit robotic-faced tramp, Frankie. XD Have you ever seen the show The Colbys? If you did, then you noticed they reused some of Sable's outfits. They must have decided it was too fabulous to go to waste, and deserved a second-sighting ^_^
Ok so Alexis lost Denver Carrington but look how ruthless she is that she even DID that in the first place. Sable was the most likely person to handle her except she like the others made the mistake of thinking there was ANY line Alexis wouldn't cross.
