when i had my 1999 mustang GT, i ran a 70mm th body, mac long tube headers with 3 in collectors, 3 in mac power chamber no cats, ported upper intake plen, FRPP underdrive pulleys, 24 lb injectors, 4.10 gears, Ported stock 80mm mass air, K&N open element filter, Super Chips tune for 100 oct fuel.. 310 hp with a Auto and a 3000 stall and a transgo shiftkit. Key is the plugs, copper 1 step hotter. custom gap.

If you're going to leave it NA go with 4.10. If you plan on FI in the future go with 3.73.

Still love the old trusty 2v. Honestly, I had more fun in my car before it was built. 300 whp is so much fun and it’s manageable. Tires are less important, transmission and clutch is less important. It’s just fun without problems. Granted I don’t have problems now but it’s auto now so it’s just way way less fun

For 280 at the wheels he should have just bought a Mach 1 or a '01 cobra. Probably would have been cheaper and had some money left over for light mods and a tune.

What cams did you go with? I was thinking about camming my 4six but the more and more i think about it i think i just would rather put the extra money towards a coyote swap

Cost wise I think forged internals n boost would be best, man, $10-15k for 400whp is not the best bang for buck, better off swapping a built big block imo, peace..

​@P71ScrewHead a big block is gonna weigh a ton. A coyote is lighter than the original engine and will drive better than a stock 2v at over 400 hp prob get similar mpg too. I'm all for building the engine you have too many people think you gotta swap to be quick that isn't true at all. Not like a coyote is just little bit more than forged internals it's quite a bit more. And a cammed mod motor is gonna sound way better. You will have torque per hp a coyote can't dream of. I like coyotes but they aren't the be all end all on the Ford side when it cones to power per dollar spent honestly ls isn't either cheaper than both to forge your original engine and throw boost at it.

Gears will make it quicker but dyno wise it'll show less power with steeper gear.

Get some 4.10s pretty sure you wouldn’t be disappointed. Cant you rev it it close to 7k ? You have springs and retainers no

Leaning toward 4.10 but still considering 3.73 as well. And yes I do have springs and retainers but don’t know if I wanna take it that high🤣
