I can attest to the "patience" he is talking about. When i got my tune from him, we went through about 6 different logs (3 of them were one specific thing tailored to how i requested) I'm extremely happy with my tune. Can't rush good product
Ingot S550 alex is the shit bro! The only guy that i will allow to tune my shit! I told him i'll be contacting him around the end of the year. He knows his shit
I can back up these claims about Alex as well, he was the one that done the tuning on my '15 coyote as well. He was easy to deal with, willing to try different shit and not just say he "can't" fix something I wasn't satisfied with, super freakin' fast email responses, and had my revisions back to me in no time! As long as you get him the datalogs he asks for, and let him know exactly how the car reacts to the changes in the revision, whatever car he's tuning for you is gonna be a bad bitch. You can promise all your ls-fag friends that they don't have a chance once your car has been blessed by the touch of the almighty "Yolo"!
Tom Forde ..... The tuners pick from the same "pool" of people so you could get anyone that works there as a tuner. You don't have anything to worry about though, VMP is as good as it gets and you'll be satisfied even if you don't get Alex as a tuner.
One thing to also point out is customer service from the tuner. I have dealt with cocky tuners in the past where they feel like it's a privilege to be tuned by them. I would rather go with the number 2 tuner and get 3-5% lesser power than go with that type of attitude.
Hector Renteria can you elaborate on what was so wrong about their service? I’m good with dealing with difficult people and I don’t mind them that much
I'm a die hard chevy guy for life, but I do think fords are pretty badass as well as other manufacturers. Love the channel and knowledge you share. Keep it up man!
I ordered a tune from VMP and Alex is my tuner. Since I'm stationed in Italy this seemed to be the best option for me. I daily drive my Roushcharged S550 and it runs like a champ. I made sure I followed the data logging instructions the best I could to get the tuner the best information on what my car was doing. I have to say that I am a happy customer.
i remember watching this video 2 years ago to get advice about a dyno or email tune. And honestly this is the best advice and most accurate. I’m running on stock headers and stock manifold and walk GT350s pretty easily which says a lot from an email E85 tune. The most important thing you said though. Was “datalog” and “dial in.” Because no one does that lol.
Here's a real world scenario mail order vs. dyno tune. I have a 2015 Mustang GT that I purchased a JLT CAI for and it required a tune. A well known tuner sent me a "get by for now" tune and I meticulously data logged on the street since I have a lot of wide open highways around where I live. I gave them exactly what they wanted and they sent me a new custom tune. Then the random CELs started happening, always right after I started up the car. The CEL # was for a "misfire condition on cylinder 8". I wrote to the tuner and they wanted me to swap injectors and spark plugs and coil packs around ... complete nonsense like that. When the only thing that had changed was the CAI and the tune, it had to be something in the tune. They disagreed... leaving me no other choice. I took my car to a well known tuner - Pro Dyno in Fort Mill, SC - and Dan Desio did a pull and the car put down 396hp at the wheels. Certainly better than stock, but not that good, right? He took a look at what was going on with the CELs and determined that the car was running something like 19% lean at start up. Oops! He then loaded up his custom S550 tune and tweaked it for my car and then it pulled 416hp at the wheels! That's a 20hp difference! Plus no more CELs! I can only assume that a different mail order tuner like Alejandro would do a better job, but if you have access to a seasoned custom tuner like I have, you should always go with them because they can use their equipment to monitor exactly what is going on with your car and really dial in your application in a safer environment than going WOT down a highway with a laptop sitting in the passenger seat ;-)
OMG the cold start you described at 6:15 in the video is exactly what I am getting. It is an email tune, however. Runs great when warmed up all the way, but revs high when cold, and sort of surges for a while. Once warm it's great.
Good stuff, thanks for the info, I’m having some issues with my box tune but I’m pretty sure it’s air, we are generally 3500-4000da and it is all over the place when it’s cold. Fortunately we have a shop a few hundred kilometres away and I’m going to see if they can set it up for a couple different fuels,c12 and E85 and clean up the 93 tune.
So true aha, I went with a Dyno tune for my FRS and the Cold start did exactly what you did, I had to drop the car at the tuner so he could plug in and see the logs himself during an actual cold start to fix it, explained to me exactly what you said.
Hayden L depends what youre doing. most likely all include a PMAS, LTs, o/r X/H-pipe and your choice of mufflers, E85 (if you can get it) along with supporting fuel system and for a street driven car, stock intake, drag car CJ intake, road raced car GT350 intake.
This guy seems pretty knowledgable but I tried to speak with their tech support about issues with my car and my set up and to see if their tune might help, and they weren't very helpful or knowledgable. If you've got a cookie cutter set up maybe VMP is ok, but not very helpful in my situation compared to other tuners I've spoken with, that I will now be narrowing down to after doing my research.
From my experience tuning, every single instance of a vehicle is different. I've seen cases where the same mod would make most cars run rich, yet it would make my car run lean.
I have 4 email tunes from 4 different companies and they all claim to offer “free updates/revisions” yet none of them want to datalog or address issues my vehicle has with their blanket tunes they offer every car that’s the same as mine 😅
Heard so much about you with the tunes 💯💪🏾 Hello, I'm a new 2018 Mustang GT owner, I was wondering what tune and cold air filter should I get? Need some assistance. Note that my car has no mods fully stocked... I would like this to be my first mods "Tune & cold air intake.... Looking forward to hearing back from you ASAP..... 🙏🏾
I'm running an email tune in my 05 GT. Did have some issues with the throttle control after the x pipe installation. Got it straightened out and its running great. Did notice that the torque doesn't come in til about 3 grand. But eventually I will have a custom dyno tune done after cams are swapped.
I've been watching you on RU-vid and I have grown to love your channel and your humor and your sarcasm how the hell do I get a hold of you to get an email tune from you on my Mustang?
Homicide Snipez It was the tuning for a supercharger. Was all done with data logs from street driving and a Dyno session. They would review the logs and adjust the tune until they were happy with the logs.
James H ohh nice that’s the way I’ve been during to do it as well ! I don’t wanna risk it do like a lito and not like it , ima have to hit them up do to the same !
if a shop does only a dynotune and no street driveabilty dont go to that shop.(or if there just about the number) especially if its a dynojet. a load dyno like the mustang is a great tool but still need driveability on the street . mail order for boltons is ok. power adders or heads/cams ect to many variables to risk. get it done in person
You can't go wrong working with Alex and VMP. He's got a lot of patience and tons of knowledge. I have a shady single turbo kit and after literally a few months he has it running perfect. If you have a so so dyno tuner near you, just get a VMP tune that'll be better!
I had to data log after my email tune made my car run shit. After many back and forth calls and emails we figured out it was my fuel quality. 93 Octane is not the same quality at all gas stations. Bottom line don't buy gas at Cosco!
Greetings. Your video blog about Dyno Tune vs. E-mail Tune was very interesting. I own a 2015 GT with the track pack and it seriously needs a tune. Evidently, I am the only one that feels what I do in the seat of the pants. I can't find a dyno in the greater Tulsa, OK area so I am very interested in the e-mail tune method. I drive my GT almost daily and some "nagging" things become down right annoying! There is what seems to be lean spot between 2700 to 3300 rpm. Bad when cold, annoying when warm. It runs like my '72 HO without a choke. The memory was "flashed" at the dealer. Slight improvement but not much. I took it in to the dealer a few weeks ago (warranty) complaining of poor running, Runs like it's lean. They came back with a dead spark plug and weak spark on another. I came home with a new set of spark plugs, diagnostic fees and a hefty bill. They said that the use of an octane booster (NOS to be exact) had caused the problems so it wasn't covered under warranty. I am loath to go back for fear they will always rag my ass over it, but, it still runs the same crappy way. And no, I am not using any fuel additives anymore. If I do use the e-mail service, will it be removable? The car has recently developed a Bog on take off. It bogs then goes and bogs then goes. WTF? Can I replace the old program if I do have to take it back to the dealer? What would the cost be, ballpark? Love your video comments. Thanks for the advice! Sam
Alex, I just got a 15' 5.0 and I can't till I get one of your VMP tune's so I can rep a #YDBT sticker with no shame lol. Love your video's man! They're super informative and you helped me decided between a s197 5.0 or a S550 with your other video.
Hey man, Im really thinking bout getting a tune from them soon. I do a little street racing but mainly my daily. 2020 Coyote 10 speed with a cold airs intake . Do you really recommend them?
Every morning I start my car and it's soooo loud. I've been trying to work with my tuner but they say " your tune is fine don't worry about it" ..... I'm no expert so I don't know how to describe it or words to use. I think it's time for a new tuner.
If it's not obvious, I'm binging on your videos right now. Originally I was going to go with a Lund tune, but I've seen some VMP cars in action and after seeing your stuff I'm actually really interested in a VMP tune, you know what you're doing. I'm wondering though if you're able to work a remote tuning session with the nGuage device, which comes with the kit I am ordering, or if you require another device like the X4 to do a remote tuning session.
Most of what you said went right over my head was going to get a tune but if they all have attitude like this I don't even want to ask them about it that's why we go to you in the first place cuz you know how to do it,I am sure people have talents you don't know body want's to be spoken down to
I’m new to tunning. I just got my first mustang v6 2016. And I want to tune it. It’s completely stock only put a muffler delete and a K&N engine filter. Should I tune it or should I install mod first? Like headers, Cai, X pipes and stuff like that?
Hey Alex, if there is one dyno within 1000 mi of you, you think it would be a decent idea to invest (eventually) in one//setup shop? Presumably after I'm not a meatball. Lol... cheers. Thinking Dynapack tbh as I don't plan on doing 1-2k HP cars (off the bat), but there is a significant population of 4WD/AWD vehicles, trucks/subies/etc. alike... Also like the compact setup, maybe I can do some traveling service stops to people way off the beaten trail (my province is big, and wide-spread... lol). Hope everyone's week has been solid!
I have tried many bama email tunes and I am not impressed in any kind of way. Actually the only good thing about them is they respond extremely fast. I been to many car shows and have talked to people using their email tunes and they all say the same thing. Might just be a bama thing.
Awesome video as usual bro. I'm running A different tuning company now but going to be going nitrous plate system on. Cobra jet. I'd love to have you dyno tune my car but I don't really know if any good tuners in my area. Your old stomping grounds New England , RI to be exact. Any recommendations? Or should I just hook up with you and some email tunes
Not saying email tunes don't work but just went through two remote tuners (well known) and then found a good coyote tuner local and its night and day, the dyno tune is 100% better. Made more power and drivabilty is better. When done with the dyno drove it on the street and did some actual street logs and dialed it in a little more. Again just my experience.
Alejandro Flores understand that and not sure if its Colorado but just had issues with two different remote tuners either having idle issues, surging during low rpms etc. One tuner (very well known) did a friend's car as well as mine he has a totally different set up and had similar issues. I wasn't really enjoying the cars drivabilty until yesterday when having it tuned locally to get those issues fixed plus the car made more power across the board. Again just my experience.
Hey bud I've been a subscriber for awhile of your channel and was wondering if you deal with tuning 2v motors at all? I recently put cms stage 2 cams, 30lb injectors, edelbrock intake, 90mm accufab throttle body and a 340 lph aeromotive fuel pump in my car and I need a tune. I bought the SCT BDX programmer, I haven't had a chance to tune the car yet cause I work in the oilfields and am hardly home. If I can get you the info you need can you help me out? Or point me in the right direction? Thanks, I'm going coyote soon as I can afford to get a motor and trans for my car. Btw I have a 2002 mustang gt. Thanks, Dave
If you could do a video on running e85 NA, I'd appreciate it. discussing things like if injectors are necessary, power gains, cold start issues, and if you think it's worth it would be helpful. Also, do your average high flow cats reduce the smell? I ran catless on my last setup and hated the stank.
I wont lie my first tune was shit and it was from bama. Went to local dyno near me called KPracing my car stock made 360 with bama made 380 and with the dyno tune I made 397 thats with just cai. Bought headers used free bama tune to make it to my local dyno with no check engine lights lol and got it re tune with them now I am making 430whp with just cai, headers, exhaust on an auto since I cant shift for shit. But I'm happy oh yeah it was a mustang dyno also on dyno jet i made 460 but we all know dynojets read to dam high.
Hey brother. Great information. I was wondering if I could talk to you about an SCT X4 tuner and legitimate sellers to go through. I wouldn't want you to put any specific place on blast publically. Wondering if I could email you and ask you a few questions about some. Thanks in advance if you reach back out to me. If not, totally understand. People are busy. Hope to talk to you soon.
Would you recommend a dyno tune or email tune for a 2014 coyote 5.0 with port and polished heads, Holley efi intake manifold, 90mm throttle body, bigger fuel rails and 52lb injectors and stage 3 cams, FULL exhaust and an intake.
Hey man so when I bought my 16 GT it was tuned previously for the intake and consequently I don’t have the tuner to restore it back to stock. Basically what Im asking is will I be able to buy a handheld tuner and be able to re-tune my car with a new tune since I just put Stainless Works headers on and not have any issues re-tuning now or in the future switching between tunes? Thanks in advance!
So I'm bone stock at the moment, the only place I can get a tune done locally is a dyno shop (I'm in the middle of nowhere New Mexico). I'm planning to get a PMAS CAI & an exhaust done (eventually, I just got the car about a month ago), and I used that shop before for an '08 GT I had which they did a good job on. For that kind of setup on a 2016 GT, should I just get an email tune from someone like you, or still get it dyno tuned? It's a pretty basic setup, I'm not looking to make mad power, just wanting better sound and some easy gains which the tune + CAI will provide.
Alejandro Flores LMAO! You don't want a creepy stalker going to the game with you?!? 🤣 Don't worry I wasn't planning on being a class A clinger. Game time is your time.
DIRTY LITTLE SECRET all tunes raise the required octane level and optimize tunes for the more expensive gas, costing you about 5% more per tank for life of the car which is likely gonna triple the cost of the tuner every 100k
Hey Alex I'm working on a 2008 Mustang GT me and my son it just has a few bolt-ons and a Bama tune wondering if I should continue to beef it up or should I just go for a newer coyote car... just don't want to waste my money if this motor can't handle it
Good evening, I was wondering if you guys could help me. I recently swapped a 1996 Caprice 4.3L L99 with a 1992 Corvette 5.7L Lt1...and I need a computer. PLEEEAASE tell me somebody can point me to the right people!!
So here is my concern. I would like your honest opinion. this is what i thought and was planning, had everything listed out neatly on a google doc file 1. boundary opg/sprocket 2. vmp Bap 3. 13-14 gt500 injectors w/ spacers by PBH 4. JPC Single turbo kit My car is stock engine and stock 6r80 transmission am i missing anything. i would hate to spend all my money and find out im fucked and blew my motor. This is gonna be a daily driver that is why i only want 600 rwhp possibly 5.5 to 6 psi on 91 octane. American muscle is telling me i have to only do a dyno tune. so does the tuner control what tunes i get from you guys or he just does his own thing.
Love the videos! I've been really interested in getting an email tune from you guys for my GT350... I think I'm sold. Do you guys have it dialed in? Not trying to put you on the spot I may just call tomorrow or when I can and talk about it
I have a 2009 Chevy Tahoe with tsp stage 2 cam 212/218 .550"/.550" 112 LSA and a cold air intake. How do I get/pay for you to email tune it for me? I have hp tuners
Need email tune for 15 coyote Roush 90mm cold air xpipe and Roush exhaust (stock cats).. what ya got for me Yolo? Love the vids, wish I could put a VMP super charger, but lack money..send me your finest email tune homes! lol
