It's very nice that Dyson Turbine Heads are more quiet than others. We've got one(round about 20€ plus postage) for the old Siemens Big Bag 3L(Which will get replaced with the used Dyson DC11 because of my dust allergy which I've bought when we have no bags for the Siemens) and it's louder than the vacuum cleaner and the Siemens is really noisy

The tangle free turbine tool is awesome at getting Cat hair from upholstery and curtains. I have a Black Cat and cream curtains and tried various methods of keeping them fur free as my Cat likes to sit in my bedroom window. I tried it today and it worked like a dream. Quick and very effective. One very happy Cat Mama!

I totally agree about the noise level. For me every Dyson I have tested is far too noisy for me and for example the regular ball canisters aren't so maneuverable as I would like. But after saying all that cyclone technology is the best on the market and (for turbine head) this also cleans very well.

I just got mine today and did not think it was too loud. I had an old Dirt Devil Vision that was much louder. Also, we likely did not have the bend closed tight enough because when we picked it up to empty it the dirt spilled out. I'm in a wheelchair and the vacuum was easy to operate and had great suction-much better than my old vacuum. We vacuumed one of the bedrooms. My only complaint is that the flexible hose needs to be longer.

Excellent review (as always) Roger! I agree with all your points on this Dyson, but like you I agree improvements are needed. I wish I owned a sound/decibels meter just to do some checking myself but even without one, all my Dyson vacuums are by far the loudest. Thanks for sharing, I was glad you showed the emptying of the new "hygienic" dust bin. Thanks and Happy Day Before Your Birthday!! 🎂🎁🎈
@ibaisaic

There's nothing hygienic about emptying this Dyson Patrick, but then I could say that for any bagless. I have a pair of ear defenders that I wear when using this model, but my latest Shark Rocket stick is very loud too. Don't forget to watch the special birthday video tomorrow. I don't know when it will be on my channel, it depends when the vacuum is delivered and how long it takes me to edit the video. I'll email you later.

+ibaisaic thanks Roger! Yes I agree.. I mentioned "hygienic" because Dyson claims its so easy and clean to empty. Lol although I do have to admit my Sharks are easier to empty as there's not much for the filth to get stuck on. ;-) I can't wait for your Birthday! :-)

My wife and I have this but we had several problems with it. First of all it sometimes made a strange 'whistling' noise where the wand connects to the hose. The brushes on the floor turbo head wore down quickly and eventually the brushbar simply jammed and didn't spin at all. The switch on the standard floor head that changes the carpet/hard floor mode snapped. The suction control on the standard floor head was fiddly to adjust and it either superglued itself to the carpet or didn't suck at all. The bin release didn't always open/close properly. However it did have a small saving grace. The anti-tangle mini turbo tool was excellent on stairs and upholstery. It really dug down well into the carpet on the stairs. WHY couldn't Dyson make a larger version of the said tool for floors? For this reason we have kept the machine but only use it to clean the car, as my wife doesn't want me taking her brand new Miele outside.
@WeSRT4
@WeSRT4 5 лет назад
The reason they don't want you picking up small particles like ash and flour is because there IS a permanent filter. The finer debris will clog the filter over time.
@KischteBier

Great review, as always. What is your impression of the deep cleaning ability of this cleaner? The tangle free upholstery nozzle and the turbo tool seem to do a very good job on the surface, but I can hardly hear or make out any agitation whatsoever. What do you think? What about the combined dusting/crevice tool - does the dusting head always stay in place? The Shark Powered Liftaway has a similar tool and the dusting head unlocks very easily, which makes it a bit tricky to use.
@ibaisaic
@ibaisaic 8 лет назад
In my experience, I would say that this is not a deep cleaner and has little or no agitation. The dusting crevice tool seems OK and the brush stays out of the way until it's needed, but it may loosen up after a lot of use. I've had no trouble with my Shark 2 in 1 tool but it is still fairly new.

Great review Roger, as always. Im still on the fence re Dyson over Miele, !! currently got the newer Miele Eco-boost, very good machine, quiet etc but has to be on the very lowest suction setting to be able to get the main head to glide over the carpet !! its like a gym work out on max suction !!! :-)

Well, fascinated by the its design and because I have 3 dogs and two cats I bought this vacuum cleaner one year ago. I only use it to vacuum the pet hairs from the sofas and pillows. I like very much its little rotative power brush for that purpose. Otherwise I don´t like it at all, it's too noisy, too bulky, the hose is too short, the cord is also not long enough and doesn't retract well. The pneumatic floor tool is very hard to maneuver and the carpeat rotative brush although it has a shape and a wheel that makes you believe that is very effective it really isn't, it jams when pulling and looses rotativity very soon. I have a Henry by Numatic and prefer from very far to use it instead of dyson pro animal. It was much cheaper, it has a bigger and stronger power brush, it is very silent, it has a very big hose and cord, a large dust bin and it is very silent.

In one of the videos for the Dyson Cinetic canister cleaner, either the unboxing or the review, you mentioned that there isn't a canister vacuum with a powered head. I thought that for a while and I live in the US and they don't even have a powered head here. Turns out they have a canister vacuum in Japan, Dyson Fluffy canister, that has a powered head similar to the Dyson v8. Which I wish they would release her in the U.S.and the U.K.

It would be nice if they could design the machine so that the dirt canister could be perfectly upright and vertical. This way the bin could fill more evenly and not allow the fluff and grit to overfill the line in the back part of the canister that leans back

Thank you!

Susan Czark I think dyson has best bagless vacuums. I know Miele has a bagless canister. However I really hate the plume of dust that comes out every time I empty the canister, Plus the constant cleaning the filters. For that reason I am a huge fan of bagged vacuums, Healthier air quality overall and no maintenance involved. Sebo, Numatic, and Zero G are my top choices.

Nothing to do with "efficiency". Your DC25 has a 1200W motor inside and your Miele most likely something around ~700W. More energy draw = more suction

@ibaisaic
@ibaisaic 8 лет назад
Long hairs get wrapped round the brushroll on any vacuum with a revolving brush, you just need to make sure you keep them clean. Personally I would have thought that the carbon fibre brushes on this Dyson would soon become damaged if long hairs are allowed to build up on the brush roll.
@inlovewithgoats1092

So is there any point in using the muscle head? Also, maybe you should have tested the Tangle free with the bag of filth. It is an excellent attachement and it would have been interseting to see how it does when it needs to clean up large amounts of dirt. But still, the best dyson you have tested yet.
@ibaisaic
@ibaisaic 8 лет назад
I think Dyson supply a regular carpet/floor tool for people with carpets that shouldn't be cleaned with a revolving brush. If I were to use this Cinetic as my daily vacuum, I would probably never use the regular floor tool.

I'm still of the opinion that it is not the best idea to use the same brushroll on bare floors as on carpets. Bare floors can have all sorts of residue from liquid floor cleaners, soaps, beverages waxes and dried food such as berries that would be picked up by a rapidly spinning brush roll. This dirt could easily be transferred to carpeting if the brush roll was not washed and rinsed beforehand. This seems to be a new trend with vacuum cleaners - very popular in Japan believe it or not. For over a decade, Japanese vacuums have featured nozzles that have spinning mini brushrolls meant for use in bare floors which can buff floors and even remove heel marks. I much prefer to use a clean "carpet only" brush roll on my rugs. But that's just crazy me! 😊
@ibaisaic
@ibaisaic 8 лет назад
I prefer to use a straight suction nozzle with soft brushes on hard floors like my Miele parquet twister. I also like the Shark nozzle with the removeable microfibre pad as it gets the large debris and the fine dust.

Hi there! I have been watching your reviews on both Shark and Dyson pet vacuum cleaners. I have 3 DSHs (but thick fur) and 1 medium lengthed fur cat. They shed, quite a lot, on upholstery, carpets, furniture.. practically everywhere. And I occasionally find their litter crystals on the tiles as well. Between Shark and Dyson - which brand and model would you highly recommend? Many thanks for your feedback!
@ibaisaic
@ibaisaic 7 лет назад
They both have their pros and cons. The Dysons are much better at filtering out the dust and keep the filters cleaner for longer, apart from the model in this video that doesn't have a pre motor filter. If going for a Dyson I would get one with a filter personally. The Shark Powered Lift Away is a good machine and more versatile than a Dyson upright, but the new Dyson Light Ball is also worth looking at.

Can the dust bin detach from the main body so I can clean the dust bin completely with a cloth. My DC50 upright bin can be detached completely from the main body. Otherwise, dust will remain in the bin and it become loaded with dirt with each passing year. Dyson products are great in that every part is designed to detach for cleaning. No, it's not worth the current price of £450, but I expect there will be another Dyson promotion to reduce that. I would never have spent that sort of money on this cleaner, so it's only thanks to AO that I got one to review. Dyson do a very similar machine with a filter that is considerably cheaper, so I would go for that one if I had to have a Dyson.

I haven't used this since the demo and plan to sell it, so I can't comment on how this will stand up to regular use, though I personally would get the cheaper version with the filters. I have read complaints about the uprght Cinetic letting dust through to the motor and I wouldn't be surprised if the cylinder does the same thing.

This Dyson is not what I would call a deep cleaner, but I think most people wouod be happy with its performance. You mention picking up large amounts of flour is not recommended. Is this because aerated flour or other fine dust can explode? I don't think it's because it'll clog or otherwise damage the machine.

I assume it's because the so called self cleaning cyclones can't cope with it. I personally would go for the version that still has filters as there is no warning about picking up fine dust.

Hellow :) Im looking to buy a Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animalpro canister vacuum just like you have here. I saw from some videos that the cinetic UPRIGHT does NOT catch all the dust with the cinetic tips (result: dirty post-motor HEPA filter). Does the same thing happen to the Cinetic canister after weeks/months/years of use? with the canister, where the cinetic tips do not catch everything and dirt goes to the post-motor filter? Did you see any dust where the motor is? Is it better to get just a Big Ball canister with a pre-motor filter? :) love your videos! :D

When I use the turbin brush I feel as if its too powerful and lifts my carpets is there a button to lower the power? I know there is one on the other tool.
@ibaisaic
@ibaisaic 7 лет назад
There is no button on the turbine to lower the power as far as I remember. The only thing you can do is reduce the suction using the control on the handle.

A lot of people don't understand but the bagless technology is not superior to the traditional vacuums that everybody hates because they are too heavy and ugly. The problem with Dyson is that they are over-engineered. What does that mean? It means that they try so hard to create something that does EXACTLY what they want it to do and they don't stop to think about what is actually the most logical thing and the best for the consumer. Many "commercial" vacuums utilize a direct air system which means that the fan directly contacts the air flow and the motor is in the same space that the dirt passes. Designing it this way helps the motor last a long time because it is being cooled by the air that is passing by. The dirt then travels directly into a bag that is made out of HEPA material so it is just as hygienic as any other vacuum. Dyson doesn't sell their vacuums, they sell their lifestyle...which is a problem because many people will shell out the money because they think they are buying the best when in fact they are buying something far inferior to what is available. Dysons are the top-shelf vacuum in stores so people buy them because they are marketed this way. The same think goes for ALL of their other products, except maybe their hand-dryers Another thing that many people don't realize is that vacuums were originally designed to be bagless but they started to add bags because of the terrible mess that you end up with when you try to empty the dirt. You still have to deal with this dirt mess if you ever want to clean out your Dyson dirt bin or else you will lose suction and your vacuum will start to retain bad odors and get clogged with dirt, pet hair, human hair etc., so you still have to deal with the disgusting mess. With a direct air system you don't have to worry about this because there is no where for the clog to occur and the bag that apparently is such a chore to replace is completely sealed and you can just throw it away when its full. As far as I am concerned, Dyson vacuums and products are a scam.

Completely agree! I have a bagged Miele cannister and a Dyson cannister and V6 cordless. However shiny and space-age esque the design and marketing is. I constantly spend time maintaining the Dyson's by cleaning, poking, brushing and vacuuming out the parts and cones only to return to a hassle free and sanitary Miele. Sure the bags may cost a small fortune in Australia but for a house of asthmatics and selectively lazy? Priceless. Plus the miele is German made but I'm not even going to start on that!

I think I saw you testing the Animal Pro 2 without the Cinectic. Are there any differences between the Cinetic and non-Cinetic one? I just got my Cinetic today and it's absolutely powerless. I am so disappointed. There is not enough power to keep the brush rotating on a carpet. It is quite silent though. I was thinking that has the Cinetic been ruined by EU's noise and power regulations as you mentioned at some point. Is the non-Cinetic model perhaps louder and therefore more powerful?

Does the Cinetic Big Ball (Cylinder) have any issue on the HEPA filter being clogged up? I came across with some youtube channel that they do have filter inside the machine and it will eventually clogged up.

Thanks for an excellent and honest assessment. How do you like the hose and wand setup? It looks like an improvement, but is it comfortable to use? The short inflexible hose, and heavy bulky wands, have been the downfall of every Dyson canister I've used.
@ibaisaic
@ibaisaic 8 лет назад
The hose is a little short but seems flexible enough and the wand is a thinner and easier to handle. I have never found any Dyson cylinder to be particularly convenient or easy to use, though this is the best so far but I prefer a bagged cylinder personally.

It's not like I wasn't warned. My Dad (a wise 87 year old) said "that's engineered in England, don't touch it. Go German". But no, I wouldn't listen and bought one of the most infuriating products ever "designed". Two big no nos. One, a huge amount of effort has to be put in to get the bottom flap to close after emptying. The plastic catch just won't let go off the teeth unless prized off. Two, suck up anything like a tissue and the tiny aperture inside the cylinder gets blocked. You have to open it to clear it. I'm not talking a big tissue, I mean a piece 4 sq inch tissue will block the opening. Oh yeah, one of the external disc domes on the outside fell off on third use and just refuses to reattach. Now the vacuum strips paint off my door frames. I JUST HATE THIS THING!!!! IT WAS EXPENSIVE!!! Sorry Dad.

Simon Robinson don’t get a shark mine broke after a year such waste of money the plastic crack and snap really easy and you CONSTANTLY have to clean the filters or it won’t work. After that I bought a dyson cinetic and it works great for all the different floors in my house however for my future needs it won’t work well I will be trading it for a riccar prima canister with the tandem air nozzle So for bagless dyson hands down over any other bagless machine

i want to get this cleaner but i'm not crazy about the fact that you can't pull the filter and wash it your self. how big of an issue is it for you? does this machine need to be serviced by dyson to clean the filter? i'll stick with my DC28 for now i guess... :^(

Not being able to clean the filter has not been an issue for me as this cleaner has been in its box since the demo.

I am wondering how my wooden floors would look after dragging this heavy machine over it - especially with the sides of it. And what about the machine itself? Don't yo think it might look entirely beat up after two years?
@ibaisaic
@ibaisaic 8 лет назад
I wouldn't want to use this cleaner on any floors that are subject to scratching as the wheels underneath are hard plastic with no rubber tyres to protect the floor. Mine won't look beat up after two years because I look after my things and if I keep it, it won't be used on a regular basis. The one thing that I can't stop is the bin going cloudy which happens in a very short time with every Dyson and other bagless cleaner I've owned.

Roger, did you get a new kitchen floor? Looks very nice!
@ibaisaic
@ibaisaic 8 лет назад
No, it's two spare bits of laminate floor I got from my mum's house. It's easier to film the hard floor demos in the same room as the carpet cleaning ones as I don't have to move all my equipment. I have just ordered one pack of gloss black laminate tiles to use in my demos as I needed a slighly larger area of floor to film with.

Very good video as always Roger, I have applied for a vacuum to test from AO.com as well, hope I get offered something I like. I am quite impressed with that turbine head, think it works really well. PS you look like Rusty in this video! Maybe you could be twins separated at birth lol.
@ibaisaic
@ibaisaic 8 лет назад
There's a good chance you will be offered a vacuum to test as many people have commented that they have also had a free vac from AO.com. I had the choice of three Dysons, two Zanussi vacs or an AEG handheld. I chose the most expensive Dyson naturally. I can apply to review another product for them, but I have to wait six months apparently. Rusty is years older than me and common as muck, so there's no way we could have both come out of my mum's noo noo. 😜

Lucky :) I just sent them a link to my DC33 review (newest video of mine) and am awaiting for their response. I am surprised you got offered that many vacuums! I thought it was a choice of 4. I was told I would have to wait 6 months to apply again too. I am looking forwards to what Rusty will have in response as well haha :P
