Bleeeechh! Pitiful! Just Pitiful! Awful machines. No airlift. That’s the reason it left so much on the ground in both carpet and bare floor tests.

IMO one of the best Dysons made. If someone is absolutely set on getting a Dyson, this is the one I always recommend to people.

Definitely one of the better ones made but with no genuine Dyson parts availability at this point. It's definitely end of life and I would not recommend it to anybody outside having in a vacuum collection.

My parents bought that a few years after buying a DC07 and I remember the carpet cleaning performance was night and day. Personally, I think this was the last great model. I've used countless ball Dysons since then and I'd go back to a new DC17 in a heartbeat.

Why it's definitely an improvement over the 07, the SEBO Felix has had this machine beat for years.

We have an older version of this that I "stole" from my mom. It's heavy as heck with extremely strong suction. This unfortunately doesn't work for our current house with flat woven rugs on hardwood floors. We used to live in an apartment with wall to wall carpeting that this worked AMAZINGLY on. We were shocked how well this worked the first time we used this one.

Still using mine today. Just took her apart to change roller and clear belt area of debris. I have replaced the roller, dry filter and bought a spare washable filter. I have once took apart the top to clear the cyclones. But everything we buy requires some care and maintenance. I've thought about replacing it but honestly, I'll keep using this one until I can't maintenance it any longer. 15 years and still doing its job.

I basically call these machines the lawn mowers of vacuum cleaners. Despite it's many flaws, I've grown to have more respect for these over the years every time I'd see a new model come out. This Animal version might be my most favorite Dyson ever, can't believe I'm saying it cause I really dislike Dyson. Anyways since you're a Lindhaus dealer, any chance you'd do a unboxing and review video of the Healthcare Pro Eco Force? That's my favorite upright of all time.

Just brought back a free DC17 last night. Sounds like cost more to service the motor or something. I just checked and doesn't power on. Plug in and nothing when switching the power button and brush roller button. I'll try to document on RU-vid what I find, though any ideas? Looks like you have another video regarding and I'll watch that next. Thanks for sharing!

I got mine for free from someone who, I assume, used it to clean up drywall aftermath. I think I got it around 2012. Used it mostly for car mat, garage and carpeted basement duty for years and currently just use it to clean car mats and vehicle carpet, nooks and crannies. My biggest gripe is that I have to remove the wand to use the crevice and upholstery attachments. So for free plus about $18 for attachments, it's treated me remarkably well.

The DC15 is far better, mine was used constantly from new (2005) and the only new part i fitted was the the exhaust filter and the side air channel cover as the seller i got it off just wrapped plastic around it for posting! So it smashed, Im surprised nothing elese was damaged just shows how tough dysons are especially my DC15

one of the better dysons agitates decently . and i got 2 one was free one was $10. the gasket is atleast easy to identify the cyclones, ugh works until it doesn't , probably has too many. hepa filter , hidden at least not had to remove. the non ball isnt a big deal for me at least it is square and easy to rotate and maneuver . and the base stays up better than the ball models that flop down while rolling from one room to another.

To this day I can’t get the initial image out of my mind from the first time that I saw the first Dyson on display in Macy’s which was that I thought that Macy’s was selling Robbie the Robot from Lost in Space and I couldn’t understand why they were selling it from the vacuum cleaner display and not in the toy or electronics departments.

I am in the market for a good performing carpet cleaner and can clean furniture. I bought the Miele c3 brilliant from watching your videos. now what carpet cleaner do you recommend? thanks. all the videos I have watched say the Hoover SmartWash+ Automatic Carpet Cleaner teal color and the SmartWash PET Complete Automatic Carpet Cleaner purple color rated high, what are your thoughts on these machines. the brilliant vacuum is a great high end machine, now I am looking for a nice cleaner with attachments for furniture as well

I had to clean with a DC17 every weekend when I was a teenager. My parents bought one brand new in 06'. The handle and accessories were just the worst. That curved crevice tool might as well have been just deleted instead of included because it was so useless. Definitely missed the Hoover Windtunnel we used to have when I was younger. My parents bought into the marketing of Dyson and went through a DC07, a DC14, and a DC17. All of which were terrible.

I have a dc17 and I hate the lower design. It’s a pain to take apart and fix. Plus parts are getting harder to find. I prefer the dc33.

I have a dc 17 as well. I'm not really a fan of it but I love it anyway. The reason why I am not really a fan of it because it's a carpet shredder and it's not easy to service.

I found this vacuum to be very loud, heavy, and it damaged flooring. Both filters were also difficult to reinstall, the aftermarket stock just never fit well. Forget dismantling it for a deep cleaning lol Dyson seems overrated.

Dont get me wrong, we still have one we use, and it works beautifully, but my wife hates how I bring out my grandmother fantom lightning because I think it does a better job.😂

Really don't think that because it is Made In Malaysia will make it poor quality!! Its really down to poorly engineered product, thin plastics and using the least material to make a complex machine is what makes Dyson unreliable. Dyson has infact improved the quality of how products are made over when they were Made in UK as the earlier Dysons Made here in the UK were really badly built and broke a lot more than the Malaysian made ones.

What about the factory using child labor versus adults? That has a part in a Malaysia factory. I definitely agree with you the engineering is pretty bad as well.
