This is a basic video guide showing how to remove a motor and fit a new one into a DC04 Vacuum Cleaner. I had to split it into 2 parts as it went a bit longer than 15 minutes so this is the repair up to the boring reassembly part. This repair should only be done by suitable skilled or qualified persons. The motor used in this video is part number MO44

We do also have the cheaper Chinese made motors part number MO49 but where ever possible I would rather install the better quality motor.

Alec, thanks for this video. I didn't want to give up my Dyson so I bought a motor and followed your video. It was a great help as the other alternative was to buy a new vacuum cleaner. Cheers - Andrew.

Thank you for this video. I replaced the motor and the internal tube in my Nanas Dyson no problem following your videos. Its like new, better than my Dyson now! This was my first time doing anything like this. x

I think perhaps the quality of the components could be better considering their buy price, however I really like how easy most models are to repair.

Thanks for the video. Any idea what the resistance across the motor terminals should be? Mine is reading 7 ohms. It seems to be completely dead - I've checked the continuity from the plug through the switch and all seems ok. Motor stopped suddenly, then worked again after I'd disassembled, then stopped after I'd re-assembled :\ Now after disassembling again it seems dead once more.
