I used a vice with a screwdriver drill bit to push in the tabs while hammering it out from the inside. Thanks...satisfying to actually repair something instead of buying a new one.

Having repaired a few of these myself a few years back, when I used to refurb DC07's to sell on, you really do need to use some superglue or araldite to secure the hose onto the stub, as these dont swivel when in use, they tend to unscrew the hose from the stub if its not stuck on with glue. If you are thinking of selling it on again, I'd glue the hose well, so the hose does not detach from the stub when people are using it.

I agree with you Steve. I think it’ll be in another video. I am not a repairman or a salesman so most of these treasures and projects never leave. I am pretty cautious about selling anything electrical as working.

as dyson no longer sell this hose, only amazon knock offs. I found this video well done and thank you

Think Crucial makes some pretty decent hose replacements for these. Don't buy the cheap chinese knockoffs on Amazon.

Thanks, saved me from buying a new hose just for a few broken loops. EDIT: after multiple attempts and getting my hands red from the pressure ... I think I'll cave into buying a replacement. 😮‍💨😩

If you take a bit of the plastic and reveel the wire loop it goes back on to the plastic a whole lot easier

Thanks for this video. I bought a new hose complete from e spares a couple of months ago for my old DC07 and today the end fitting just came off. Hardly had any use out of it really, its for my garage/workshop so doesn't get used daily. The new pipe recoil is so strong its ridiculous. I just pulled the vacuum end fitting over to where I was working and it just came out. Pretty annoyed about it really. This video has shown me how to go about sorting it out and I will be using gorilla glue when I assemble it back together. Thanks very much, its appreciated.

I was hoping for an easier way to release the tabs. 😉 I just spent a few minutes trying to get them to release. Now that I know that’s the route that I need to take, I’ll work on them a little more. Thank you for the video!

I used a small flathead screwdriver and insert it inside of the gray tube and press down on the tabs and black piece popped out! Hope this helped someone

This is typical of a “do not try this at home”job Those black lugs are almost impossible to move I attempted to do this and put my screwdriver through my thumb, after clearing up the blood and dressing the wound In my anger I rang Dyson to get a new part They put me on to espares who had the complete assembly in stock £10.59p Wish I had rand Dyson first!!!

Worth knowing, but I'm all for a repair if it can be done. At least there are options. 😀

Surprised you didn’t damage your hands with the screwdriver & box cutter! Also it’s a great opportunity to wash the hose completely of the icky build-up (though a bit tricky to manage). The build-up in the hose is partly responsible for the breakdown of the hose material.

I have hurt myself before, but if you don't try you get nothing done. I have started putting vacuum hoses in the washing machine. and it cleans them, I am not sure how it would deal with the self contraction types used in these Dysons however!

@@bootsowen I was thinking of soaking in a tub of warm water with mild degreaser and then (with an extra pair of hands) extending the hose while pulling a cloth through a few times. Then rinse & allow drying time. Those hoses are something to wrestle with!

An easier way to remove that black piece is to tap it out from the backside with a mallet and a round bar or dowel. Go ahead and take out the accordian style hose first, since it is already broken and pull all of the wire out of the hose end. Then hit it a couple of times on the back side with your dowel and mallet. It should pop right out. Also watch out that you don't disturb the retainer on the yellow button. It is spring loaded, and if it pops out, those springs will shoot everywhere. Put a towel or some other retaining method over the top as you tap it with the mallet, just in case.

There a spring in the hose fitting? How can it be repaired?

You must be made of money! There is a satisfaction that comes with reaping something, even if it is replacing a part, but once you can use things you already have to make a repair without cost, without travelling to shops and without waiting for deliveries then the satisfaction rises. Maybe me making the video has helped you to make the decision that you will buy a new part rather than repair? Thanks for the message.
