When a 76 year old woman can replace the changeover hose on her Dyson by watching a RU-vid video...well, that's an excellent, concise video. Thank you for this easy to follow instruction. I was successful on my first attempt.
I was told I wouldn’t be able to replace my changeover hose .But this video and the gentleman’s clear instructions made it easy for me to complete the task .So many thanks for your help.
Richard, Thank you for this concise and valuable video on how to replace an important wear item on Dyson vacuums. You saved us getting a new one. Works great. Keep up the good work; we all love being part of RU-vid University.
Finally a good dyson repair video. You are very descriptive and all of your work is right in the picture and in focus. Your descriptions and commentary are spot on. This is a very good video!
Just wanted to show my appreciation for a really useful video. Simple but thorough. Just the right amount of information and no messing around or time wasted! Thanks
Thank you! I picked up a used UP13 for $50 because it had no suction. Changed filters, still no dice, so I googled and after replacing the change over hose w/ this tutorial, it works like brand new!
Thank-you so much! I found a dental scraper/pick poking out of the changeover hose. It was plugging the hole so the attachments could work, but not allowing the base to suction and possibly not allowing the hose to changeover. I took it apart before I checked. My daughter didn't see that she had vacuumed it up when using the attachment under the sink cabinet. I'm so glad to have found your channel. You're a lifesaver!
Very clear and concise explanation for this. Just got a Dyson Animal 2 second hand after a shark burnt up on me and watched a handful of the videos you have that cover servicing it, I feel like I’m an expert now, thanks for making these.
Purchased the hose, then thought I'd just search on RU-vid to see if anyone had uploaded a tutorial. Sir, this is outstanding! Done and dusted... I appreciate you 🙏🏼
The DC 43 is the splitting image of the UP. Filters are the same. The only difference is the canister. One can even put a cinetic canister, an animal canister or even the Extra canister. The slight difference also comes in the canister tube which is interchangeable. The changeover is almost like a slinky. Great video
Cheers saved me $200 and a trip to my only service centre in my state! 133km each way. Dyson's lack of after sale service in Australia is sadly prohibitive.
Thank you for the great tutorial! These models must be notorious for this issue, as the changeover hose on mine looked exactly the same as yours -maybe worse. Wondering why it's the case with the degradation of this particular section of hose and not the others? Anyway, thanks so much for the walk-through -you saved us all a lot of money!
I replaced the hose, but when changing positions, the hose wants to spring back upwards so no suction. Seems to get half way then stops could it be due to a weakened spring in the pivot arm? ??? Seems strong enough, but….????
Does the rubber part of the hose that sucks up against the dirt collection unit normally have a gap when not vacuuming? Yours in the video seems folded over and mine doesn’t connect fully with vacuum off
I’m attempting to explain the little details that would make it tricky for a person who has never repaired a vacuum. If you actually wish to critique my video please provide specific instances otherwise keep this sort of pointless condescending comment to yourself a move on.
This was a great help Thank you. I watched hundreds of repair videos on youtube and this is the best by far. When people make a repair video this should be the template of how to do it!
Great video. Used this to switch my change over and the plastic linkage. Work as it should almost. When I go from hose to floor the change over moves but not quite all the way. I have to reach down push it the rest of the way to get suction. Any ideas?
Hi. I've followed along the video and changed the hose but when I tested it, as shown at 9:17 on the video, the end of the hose starts to move into the second position but then clicks back to the original position. The suction stays on the wand and the vacuum head doesn't get any. Could anyone offer any advice please?
I would recommend removing it and re installing paying close attention to where each post installs into the hose (if you get them wrong it could effect the movement like what you're experiencing).
I did that but the new hose just doesn't work. I put the the old hose back in and it operates as it should - although its full of holes. I think that the spares company sent me a part that isn't suitable for my DC41. It's slightly longer and much stiffer than the original. Thanks for the great video.
Thank you Sir. Had I not seen this video, I never would have attempted taking the ball apart. Both internal hoses were ripped on mine, and the red clip broke off years ago. I had the old one hanging on to the intersection with a screw. I'm in for $60 with the parts and the snap ring pliers and a couple of torque drivers. My sister told me to throw it away and get a new one. All fixed for $60, as good as new.
Yes but watch my video on the DC40 (up19 is a dc40 base with a newer version of the cleaner head). I’m actually going to be making a new one because that was one of my very first recordings and it wasn’t the greatest 😩
I was told today Dyson Sydney Australia my Dc41 Animal is retired and they wont fix the hose parts not available . Fingers crossed i can source a hose and with your video fix it. Many Thanks (probably not from hubby) a grateful Aussie Nanna
Many thanks for sharing your knowledge on this particularly in going through the entire process ie. putting back together. The ANIMAL is back! Also a big shout out to Dyson, it's both unusual and very pleasing in this 'throw away world' we live in that end users can purchase genuine parts both inexpensively and perform these maintenance tasks relatively easy. I've been an engineer for a long time (45+ years) and like to pay for quality but have to say when I purchased the DC41 and removed it from the packaging I thought whilst it was aesthetically awesome the wife would smash it to pieces in no time. Well I've been proved wrong the old girl is almost 9 years old and now back on her best form
Thank you for showing how to do this with your clear, concise video. My wife's brand new Dyson Ball Animal 3 (UP30) had it's change over hose split within 6 or 7 uses, rendering it useless. Dyson customer service could not even help us for some reason. I was able to purchase another change over hose from Amazon and fix the problem myself thanks to your video. The UP30 appears to have the exact same components as the model in your video so the process was straightforward.
There is a 2nd internal hose on the DC41. Trying to find a video of that and the part #. I'll be changing this one out too, especially if I have to dig this deep into the machine. Amazon has the hose in this video for $15 now.
Thank you thank you thank you! For under $20 I fixed my vacuum! In today's economy, I can't afford another Dyson, so being able to fix it has been a godsend! Thank you!
Great vid , worked for me , easy job. only issue I had was I thought I lost a small screw but going by your vid the new hose holder only has one screw holding it in on one side. despite a small screw actually able to screw it in on the incorrect side. Was cheaper to buy the part from Britain and delivered than in Australia , Dyson Australia don't stock the part and tried to sell me a new discounted dyson vacuum cleaner because they said it was a safety issue buying replacement part not from Dyson or franchise.
Thank you so much. Someone actually threw out their dyson and I recovered it. The top suction worked but the bottom did not. You video that explained about the change over hose was my solution to fixing it! Everything was fine but there was a tooth floss stick stuck inside where the hose changes over that was preventing the change over from top to bottom. I removed it and twala! I now have a $300 dollar vacuum for free! Once again, thank you!
Excellent clip, this was just what I was looking for. Clear, step by step instructions, with excellent level of detail, telling me everything I need to know and thoughtful information including what size tool to use, what size screws making it easy to put it back together.
Excellent video! No fuss and straight to the point. It really helped me change the COV. Working fine now because of your step=by-step tutorial with tips.
Great video, as someone who does all my own repairs this was the best for a Dyson hose change . I watch a number of video but this was the most helpful.
Really helpful and well done! No small talk with unrelated topics! Nice! No one is interested in all the personality chatter when they click on a video to get the info for what they need! Thank you!
Hi, just replaced the same hose. But I have another problem, may be you know... There is a top valve on the container (like a little circle) and in the vertical mode it opens up, and obviously no suction in the hose. UPD, fixed! the main hose was clogged.
