Dyson dc17 Belt change/ Instructional video 

THANK YOU! Worked like a charm. Called Dyson for help, and watched your video while I was on hold......finished the whole replacement before Dyson ever picked up the call!!! Great video!

Thanks for your reply...I figured it out eventually (a couple of locks on top holding the sides in place which retain the two rollers which engage a direct drive in the middle). Happy to share any info regarding the dc-18 which, in my opinion, is a superb machine.

By some chance do you know other things on the Dyson? About loud screeching noise or hiss? I actually found your video on a vacuum site. It hisses loudly when I pull the handle down to vacuum. Scary loud. I just fixed my clunking noise my daughter vacuumed up a pair of nail clippers and it got caught in the round tube. Now I have this issue.

You and RU-vid are awesome. My belt broke and I got the replacement. When I got around to changing the belt, Dyson was closed and I really wanted to vacuum the floors. So I did a RU-vid search and found your video on changing a belt for the dyson animal. It couldn't have been any easier. Thanks, Now I subscribed to your channel. Hey vacboy...how do I change the roller brush(es) on a dc-18? Looked all over the net and users manual to no avail.

Vacuumboy, how do I know if I need to replace the belt?

This is the incorrect way to replace the belt. the inner cover must be removed using a torx wrench. this way you can clean debris off motor housing and around belt cog. this way if the belt has broken, you can remove broken pieces as well as dog hair build up etc,

Slip it in and hook it? There's another roller under that the notched roller I can't get get the belt to go between the notched roller and the smooth roller. Help!
