I own the Dyson Zone and I can attest that it is a great product. I used it non-stop when I visited Gotham not as a conqueror, but as a liberator to return control of the city to the people.
I love the Dyson Zone and think they’re onto something with this product. To push back just a little, it does seem like the batteries are very serviceable (given their placement) and wouldn’t the positive airflow pressure obviate the need for the full mask (hence the “Zone” moniker)? I think time will show that these are well designed and very functional
you are not wearing the visor right in your video. you should be able to extend the visor so it does not touch your face. this is in the operator manual as well. this headset it not for everyone, but i use it daily in LA and i love it.
From an engineering standpoint its fascinating to see inside. Concept as a whole is very questionable though, perhaps it will see more of an uptake in Asia?
i live in LA and wear it everyday because i can. it sounds great and the dyson app allows you to see how clean/dirty the air is around you and allows you to make adjustments. i see this site is for a teardown so i would not take this person's viewpoint with any weight.
I can say after talking to the Dyson people, it has sold much better in India and China. And that's a shame, because at $399 now... It's actually a great product.
They even designed it against that being a problem, since it vents out the top, and has fire resistant fabric. You can tell they built it asking what if things go wrong.

About the mask accessories... Common misconception about how the Zone works. Those are largely for areas where mask mandates are required. The Community Mask (cloth) is well built, and great for Bane cosplay... But you immediately notice the purified air bouncing off it. The cloth mask basically lets you keep using the Zone, without a mask gripping your jaw, or having to stash the visor in your pocket... to put on a less effective surgical mask handed to you. The paper FFP2 mask allows more airflow, but that's best for a wildfire, or a room with someone I know is sick. Most of the time, you just want Zone doing its about-95-percent filtration thing solo. One feedback on the video, from a happy Zoner... More up close shots. Things like the battery labels are unreadable. Would be useful as there's no imagery of it online elsewhere.
Happy owner here. They need the Dyson 3.5 mm adapter. But they can charge with it at the same time, and the US spec adapter also supports airline jacks. (Some regions sell it separately). I think Dyson felt Bluetooth would work in most scenarios, but I wouldn't mind a USB DAC in a future version.
Ignoring the uselessness of the filter, this a $1000 item that will be dead in 5-7 years max, when the battery no longer holds its charge.this kind of landfill should be banned. I’m sticking with my wired earphones

Dyson has agreed to offer battery replacements for at least seven years after they stop selling it. Hence if you get a battery swap at the end of servicing, that's 14 years total. Not bad for something this bleeding edge.

sold out on the second day of launch in the US. european people are waiting in line to get this. ive had mine for a month. use it as much as i can. that said, its surely not for evreryone.

This probably wouldn't have seemed completely stupid 2 years ago, but now with the pandemic fog lifted it looks like the dumbest thing ever. Why do need fans to push air through the filter? Your lungs do a fine job at that on their own when you're wearing a regular mask. All that extra weight on your head can't be very comfortable after even a few minutes either, and something tells me the audio quality with the fans running can't be that good. I don't get it 🤷
this is not designed to filter out germs and carona. this was 7 years in the making. its designed for people who want to breathe clean air and isolate themselves from noise pollution while enjoying a relaxing experience out in the wild. these are not for everyone for sure, but there is a huge following of these headsets.
Not too surprising reliability is low because of Dyson's reputation as a premium brand with expensive vacuum cleaners and fans. This feels more like a COVID fad to me. As mentioned, if this had the planned filter it might have a use case. But as of now, it's too much of a gimmick (either that or you REALLY want to look like Kiwi from Cyberpunk Edgerunners)
It's great to see this as a new device before it turns into the next Dyson product failure like the washing machine. It's going to be a terrible failure. Half a kilogram in weight. Publicly embarrasing to wear. Two noise & EMF producing fans right next to the speakers. Can't believe they went through with this over the electric car project.
If it was the original design, with the mask that would fit your face (the look of which is more normalised now, since the pandemic) this had a slight chance of selling a few. As it is, it’s laughably bad.
meanwhile the headset sold out in the US almost immediately. there are many many people who are waiting in line to get this. i have had mine for over a month and love what it does. the op in this video is wearing the visor wrong and clearly did not test out any of its features.
