I love the fact that this kid isn't afraid to express himself. Glad i've shared the stage w/Dewayne. He's a humble cat & God ha truly blessed him. Keep creating & inspiring us... Anne K. Taylor
I love that Victor influence. You made it your own. I'm glad your not a dude who wants to be like him. Its great that you're being yourself man. It brings joy to my heart !
Ha , and the real funny part is , if my bass is in tune , he kicks it in the key of G ,,,,,,,,,,,, And then the most coolest part of all this he , when you think he runs out of ideas or chops , he has another one for these Guys ! its a joy watching MonoNeon being so musical and humble and showing everybody 'Look dudes i listened to Jamerson , Verdine, Rainey , Clarke , Jaco , Berlin , Marcus , Victor and probably every other R&B and jazz musician under the Firmament . The future looks bright .....You'll be a witness DF
@gunryobassist man, im totally with you. Im 26, and started to play bass at 21, but im not even intimidating with this amazin bass player. I dont think that dywane intention here is show himself, intimidate, etc. I just almost cry in see how much joy we can have in a special moment like this on this video. See that greatness of music through a kid of 17 or 18, just pump me up to study MORE AND MORE!!! and at the end, theres only music, and not whos best or worst. DO THE BEST YOU CAN, DYWANE!!!
6:09 THIS is where I hear a really unique pocket groove that is Dwaynes own signature vibe. Like Dilla got his immortal 'Dilla Beat', Dwayne's groove will be played as the 'Mononeon Groove'. Thing is, Dwayne is writing more chapters in the Laws oofn Groove!!
dannnng bruh... i knew i had seen you before... saw you sittin in at Gouche's sheds in LA one year after NAMM. Don't let nobody get you down MONO, the dudes who say you ain't GREAT... they just mad cuz they can't do what you do. Much love man, and thank you for tappin into that gift!
Nah this is what's known as a "gospel shed" session. Most of the other guys are also musicians and switch out and take turns playing and swapping gnarly licks. It's apart of the culture.
Them 5 thumbs down must be 5 Bass Players, Who's names Are ; 1 Hung it Up Wilson 2, I Quit Smith, 3 Nada Moore, 4 Mr FINISHED DONE COOK , AND 5 I'm Drunk and "Don't Give a Dog's Ass I ain't never gonna be that DANG THAT SWEET ON A BANJO" ADDAMS , on my way home to Mama
LOOOOOOOOOOOL whats funny is Mononeon can groove hence why guys like Andrew Gouche,Tye Tribbett,Chris Coleman,Jack DeJohnette to name a few work with him. Also why are you hating on him when he's not at a gig playing music yet at a shed.... If he allowed to solo he solos....that is that If you want to hear him play music watch clips of him covering music not shedding. In fact theres a clip of him jamming with a guitarist named "Zayn" look for that and "judge".
At 8 MINUTES !!!! and 38 seconds ...... Oh lets see what else could i add .... ehmm ok ,,,,Keyboarder is out ,,,,,, so lets play some chords along with the bottom end .....
Where did the "Anti-virtuoso" movement come from? In the 70's we loved Stanley, Larry, Jaco and others b/c they sounded good AND they did blew our minds w/ skill. I'm tired of people saying that complicated technique disqualifies you from being musical. Choppy hype? The NBA would be very boring if everyone shot layups and mid range jumpers. But we celebrate those that can win AND blow our minds w/ skill. Mono is simply dunk'n 2 handed on the bass clef. He could've layed it up... but why?
This is actually quite a bit more than just flash. after a certain point 'more' becomes something different than what it came from. basketball is still just basketball, even with dunking.
@TheBebopdance If music is all that you have you are in trouble. Most of the poeple who responded are into your chops and based on their post have no life experience. Music is a TALENT that is given by God, it is not who you are. I suggest you read the bios of Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Oscar Petterson and so many others. Greatness is a matter of ones opinion. I laughed when I read the word "Intimidates" Music isn't about competiton.
Since Marcus Miller and dozens of other "greats" have called him a pioneer and gamechanging talent,I'm gonna go with their opinions over yours. 🙂Dywane is never about competition,he's about expressing himself...they gave him the opportunity here, and he nailed it.If you don't like it,that's totally fine, but to attempt to dismiss this as something regular, you're way off base. Btw,he's doing just fine these days. 🙂You're probably still commenting 12 years later on other players' posts about how they're not so great. SMH 🙂
@4strings4me why not throw some encouragement in with your 'advice'? sounds like you have an axe to grind with anyone whose chops alone are strong enough to inspire awe/joy in the audience. Do you know the young man? You have higher expectations? (You have zero uploads). OK, you are entitled to your opinion, But you sound bitter and harsh. Immature. Include some love too if you want to guide him away from what you judge musically superficial. Dywane- your musical spirit is real and felt. peace
they throwing money I have a question do y'all go crazy for the Lord like that who cool to have a gift but come on y'all be acting like. the musician is God
maybe they're acting like they know the musician is gifted and inspired by God. relax, brother. it's probably less than they'd pay 4 a concert outside of God's House. let them show their appreciation.
