I like this stove. Got mine from ali express. I use it with my 9 cup percolator pot all the time and never had a problem. I guess I have mastered the learning curve on it. Now my 8r clone scares the hell out of me. Never a dull moment with that one. Sir, great video and very informative. Thank you for sharing.

@Rick-SPLATman Glad you liked the video. Is your 8r Russian made? Back in the late 80's early 90's just before I went in the army I remember the 8r Russian clones for sale in magazines. Allways wanted to get one but back then I was a broke kid saving every dime I earned to get a car. Thanks for the comment and views.

@@charlesartificer2158 yes sir it's one of those Russians stoves. I got it from eBay from a seller from Ukraine. It's a cool compact lunch box stove and I love the design but priming it will get your heart pumping every single. Hey, thank for responding. It's very cool of you. Have a great week.

@Rick-SPLATman I always try and respond I'm still a small channel and can do that for now. I will have to look around Ebay see if I can find one for a reasonable price. You have a great week brother.

@@Rick-SPLATmanMy genuine 8R is no less scary. If you spill a little gas into the bottom of the cube, you get a good fireball and fucks up your paint job pretty quickly. Oh well, it's reliable and simple as hell and a great little backup or ultra compact. I think the svea may be the better of the two for traveling light with a lifetime quality stove. I love my old Canadian Coleman 505 for the instant lighting, but it's a little bit heavier. Silent burner as well. Overall most of these stoves are great little things.

@@mikafoxx2717 Sir, you sound like a camp stove guy like myself. I can honestly say I'm a hoarder... oops I meant a collector of camp stoves. I also have the svea but not the Sweden one and I like it. Damn thing was expensive though so it's never made it on a hiking trip thus far. Car camping I usually take 3 different types of stoves out just for the conversation piece. I get comments on the svea but most people trip on the cheap wick stove that uses kerosene. My hiking trips I'm limited because of the fire bands here in CA. Hey, thanks for sharing and have a fantastic day.

I have the same stove 2years now ,I did not like the no pressure release valve cap ,so I tried a colmans 442 cap it fits ,Colmans caps have channels cut in the threads for pressure release much safer than none at all.

Most folks I've seen using this style of stove, never put more then about half a tank full or so of fuel. You want it below the "Fill line" by 5/8 or 3/4 of an inch. This helps with the spitting out of liquid fuel when you light the burner. Others; DO NOT prime with the white gas. They fill the priming trough about 2/3 or 3/4 full of denatured alcohol. From that included little plastic bottle. Then just WAIT untill ALL the priming fuel has fully burned and went OUT. Only then do they try to light the main burner. Please try that, and let me know if it helps! THANKS.

I'll give it a try with 5/8 or 3/4 below the fill line. As for priming it's just more expedient to use the fuel that's in it. But to each their own. If you look at the old instructions for the seva they use the fuel that's in the tank to prime it. Not another fuel. Been using the stove for a while now I've really got the hang of it I've got it down to where just before that priming fuel goes out I'm lighting it every time. I like it. Thanks for the info
